GON Readers Weigh In Reading is one of those pastimes that looks different for everyone—and that’s part of its charm. In our recent Get Organized Now reader poll, most of you read somewhere between one and six books per month. Some are “book bingers,” always deep into a new story. Others are article lovers, audiobook fans, or occasional page-turners. One reader amazed us by saying they read one book a day—now that’s incredible! Another tracks every book read since March 2020, which is a wonderful way to reflect on your reading journey. As for me, I’m in a book club, so I always read that month’s selection—and usually one more for fun. I also read a ton of newsletters and magazines (probably more than I realize!). By the way, if you like to keep track of the books you read and prefer a pen and paper method of doing so, a friend gave me this Book Club Journal. It’s absolutely beautiful and has plenty of space to jot down thoughts. It also makes a wonderful gift for book lovers. If reading brings you joy, it’s worth making time for—even if life is busy. That might mean reading a chapter before bed (or even just a few pages), listening to audiobooks while walking the dog, or carving out 15 minutes with a cup of tea. Reading can relax your mind, spark creativity, reduce stress, and even help you sleep better. If it matters to you, it’s worth prioritizing. Whether you’re finishing one book or 30 this year, keep reading in whatever way works for you. Here are all the results in order, followed by some favorite reader comments: 26% 2 to 3 Books: I always get in several reads 22% 4 to 6 Books: I’m well in my reading groove 20% 1 Book: I dabble now and then 15% Other 14% 7 or more Books: I’m always on a book binge! 3% No Books: Reading’s not really my thing Personal GON reader comments: I get many newsletters in my email, like yours, so I do most of my reading online. When we go on vacation, I get books from the library, about one book per week. I read all by audiobook because that way I can be accomplishing a task, like cleaning the pool or flower beds or walking the dogs. Then I am guilt free! I have been reading about 15 books per month since March 2020 (beginning of pandemic) when I began writing down the titles. I'm in a book club so I read at least one book a month. Now and then, but 4 or more magazines, journals, newsletters, etc. I usually read one a day! I read more articles and non-fiction instead of fictional books. Several books, plus I listen to some too. I read on my Kindle everyday, but rarely finish a book in a month’s time. I have a friend that has made a goal of readying 52 books this year! It depends on how busy my month is. But I do listen to 3 or more audiobooks each month because of so much drive time in my life. One book from my "book Club" and another on audio. I am trying to read my Bible in a year, every year. I’m happy to finish one in a month. It really has to be good before I get distracted to move on to something else I should be doing. I have six books at various stages of being read and four more to start. I eventually get them all read though. When I was working full time, raising kids and running a household, I was constantly reading. For some reason now that I have retired, I very seldom read for pleasure. I read all the time. It is a very relaxing pastime. I look forward to it. Depends on the season...cold and snowy 3-4; sunny may get through 1-2. I read a few books while on vacation but unfortunately in my day to day life, I only seem to find time to keep up with reading the newspaper; books and magazines seem to go by the wayside. I always read at least one for my book club! And try to fit in a few more as well. Back to Web Poll Results Index
