In a GON Reader Poll, we asked, “When it comes to your stuff, are you
an ‘Everything In’ or ‘Everything Out’ Personality?” Here’s how our
readers responded…along with a bunch of personal comments:
45%
Everything In: I like a more minimalist look and keep whatever
I can behind closed doors or in closed drawers.
23%
ALL: I'm in Everything In, Everything Out, and Everything ALL
ABOUT personality.
16%
Other
11%
Everything Out: I like being able to see and grab what I need
without opening a door or drawer. I like most items out and on
display.
5%
Everything Out: But only because my home seriously lacks
storage space.
•
I am totally in, but my hubby is totally out.
•
All over the place. I struggle with any organization but I know where
most stuff I need is.
•
I prefer a balance of both.
•
I like everything in, but my husband is everything out. So, lots of
things are out and I am constantly putting things away. It's
exhausting!
•
Kind of both, but I WANT to be an Everything In person - I hate the
clutter - but my mind is too ADHD to have everything hidden away.
•
Everything Out because I am bad about putting things away.
•
Everything in EXCEPT things I have to remember or keep on top of.
If I can't see it, it may not exist!
•
I like some items out, or easily accessible in baskets in view
(vitamins corralled, books, tea supplies). Not enough storage in our
home space either. Been purging and streamlining to keep more
minimalistic, clutter-free approach to home. Still like cozy
surroundings versus real minimalist bare. Balance...and simplicity
are my focus!
•
I do try to put everything "away," and if that is out and in view, that's
OK. Some things, like my jewelry, I try to actually hide, but then I
forget where I put them!
•
Depends; I like having things out that I use all the time, but I try to
keep clutter at bay by having a place inside for things I don't use
often.
•
Depends on what it is. Clothing is in. Collectibles are out. As is those
things I enjoy seeing daily.
•
More everything in except for large things I use daily.
•
Things I use every day or every other day out, the rest in.
•
While I prefer everything put away, the clutter tends to accumulate
out.
•
Everything Out for what I'm doing these days; like making
sourdough, but not cookies or cakes; next month, the mixer for the
cookies and cakes and the starter jars go to the back of the fridge.
applies to everything in my home.
•
I like pretty knick-knacks out, but everything else in.
•
Everything In except for some decorative items and things that I use
regularly like the coffee maker.
•
Some things are always in, some things are always out, some just
depends on what I'm working on.
•
Mostly everything in, but the often-used items out. Some often-used
items are used as decoration so they serve a dual purpose.
•
Everything In behind closed doors and closed drawers most of the
time for a minimalist look, except for current projects that I want to
be able to see and grab.
•
I’m an Everything Out with an Everything In husband so I try to keep
my out stuff neat and to a minimum. I also put things back in as I
finish any projects that accumulated stuff out.
•
I mostly like things in, because it appears less cluttered. Sometimes
I put things out, to be sure not to forget them, such as library books
to return. Or I write myself a note and put it on a prominent place.
