PRINTABLE ORGANIZING CHECKLIST: Click here for PDF Printable Organizing Checklist Click here for Basic Text Organizing Checklist ____ Apr 1 Clean out your junk drawer. Declutter and organize any unnecessary-to-keep items that are living in your junk drawer. ____ Apr 2 Organize one pantry shelf. Take stock of what you have and rearrange items to make them more accessible. Donate any never-opened, non-perishable items you won't use. ____ Apr 3 National Walking Day. Take a refreshing stroll outdoors and embrace the benefits of movement for physical and mental well-being! ____ Apr 4 Wipe down light switches and doorknobs throughout your home. These often-overlooked areas can harbor germs. Give them a quick wipe with a disinfectant cloth. ____ Apr 5 Clean out the seat pockets of your car. Take a few minutes to remove any trash. Relocate items that don’t belong in your car back into your home. ____ Apr 6 Create a digital folder. Whether it’s an email folder or one on your computer, a well-named digital folder will allow you to organize similar files together. ____ Apr 7 Bid farewell to cosmetics that are old or that you don’t love. All cosmetics have a “shelf life;” some more than others. Liquid Foundation, concealer, and lipstick will last about a year, powder products like blush are fresh for around two years, and mascara is only good for about four months. Get rid of anything older, plus any cosmetics you never wear. Organize the remaining items neatly to maximize space. ____  Apr 8 Weed your garden. Spend some time removing weeds and tidying up your garden beds to promote healthy plant growth. ____  Apr 9 Make a list of 10 activities that help you unwind. Then do one activity on your list each day. Some possibilities are meditation, yoga, a morning run, or reading a good book. ____ Apr 10 National Siblings Day. Reach out to your siblings to let them know you appreciate them. If they can use a bit of emotional support, give them a listening ear. You might even want to send them a “positive potato” to make them smile! ____ Apr 11 Get rid of something you never use by donating it to someone who could benefit from it or recycling it responsibly. ____ Apr 12 Organize your digital photos for 15 minutes. Take some time to sort through your digital photo library. Delete duplicates and organize photos into folders by date or event. ____ Apr 13 Get rid of underwear that is old, ripped, or threadbare.  Make it a point to buy what you need to replace those items. ____ Apr 14 Bid farewell to your surplus of pens. If they’re still working, donate them to a local YMCA, church, retirement home, etc. ____ Apr 15 File your taxes (if applicable). If you haven't already done so, get them done today or ask for an extension. ____ Apr 16 Do a chore for someone else…just because. Kindness goes a long way. Handle someone else’s chore for them (throw out the trash, wash the dishes, take the car to the car wash, etc.) Gifts of time are usually very well received and appreciated! ____ Apr 17 Replenish something that’s running out, like dishwasher tabs, postage stamps, or fuel for your car. ____ Apr 18 Buy some extra greeting cards. It’s always a good idea to have some on hand for themes like birthdays, sympathy, congratulations, or thank you messages. ____ Apr 19 Dust off the top of your refrigerator. It’s amazing how much dust can settle up there! ____ Apr 20 Delete a whole batch of unnecessary email messages.  Set your timer for 30 minutes and see how many you can get rid of. 100? 200? 500? Even more?! Go, go, go! ____ Apr 21 Organize one bookshelf. Arrange your books by genre (biographies, fiction, self-help, etc.) Donate any books you no longer want to keep. ____ Apr 22 Earth Day. Take action to protect the planet by participating in a local cleanup event, reducing your energy consumption, or doing some gardening. Also, Passover begins at Sundown. ____ Apr 23 Clean out your wallet or purse. Dispose of old receipts, expired cards, and any other unnecessary items to help streamline your daily essentials. ____ Apr 24 Administrative Professionals Day. Express gratitude to your favorite administrative professional with a heartfelt note or a small token of appreciation. ____ Apr 25 Clean any splatters in your microwave. Wet a towel and wipe away any spills or splatters. If necessary, fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and a splash of vinegar. Then heat it in the microwave for a few minutes. The steam will help loosen any stuck-on food, making it easier to wipe clean. ____ Apr 26 Arbor Day. Plant a tree in your yard or participate in a local tree-planting event to help beautify your community and support environmental conservation. ____ Apr 27 Clean refrigerator coils. Use a vacuum cleaner or coil brush to remove dust and debris from the coils behind or underneath your refrigerator, helping it run more efficiently. ____ Apr 28 Update three passwords. We all tend to use the same passwords over and over. Doing so isn’t safe. All it would take is for one password to get compromised and then many of your accounts could be affected. Review and update three passwords, ensuring that your online accounts are secure. ____ Apr 29 Cancel a service that you are paying for, but rarely use…or cannot afford. This could be a gym membership, a TV or music streaming service, or a magazine subscription. ____ Apr 30 Get ready for Mother’s Day. Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Take some time today to consider how you might show a little love for your mom, grandmother, and/or any special mothers you know. Make a list of some possibilities and a plan to buy or make cards or gifts. If any of those moms have passed away, perhaps make plans to go to that resting place or pay a visit to someplace this person used to love visiting…in her honor.
