Springtime Organizing Challenges
Each challenge is designed to help you get organized during the spring
season. As you complete each challenge, choose something from the
reward list that you’ll find further down on this page!
1.
Clean your car, inside and out: You can do it yourself, or bring it to
the car wash. Declutter as well…the glove compartment, the trunk,
the back seat, etc.
2.
Purge fall and winter items you won’t be using later this year:
It’s a really good time to declutter and donate coats, boots, gloves,
woolen hats, etc. While you’re at it, get rid of any wire/plastic/flimsy
hangers. Replace these with a nice set of sturdy coat hangers.
3.
Sweep your walkway and your driveway: When you’re done, it
will look so much better. Hose it off as well if needed. Check your
doormat; replace it if it has seen better days. Then, add a pretty
outdoor wreath to your front door.
4.
Say goodbye to spices you never use or that have gone bad:
Replace dried spices that have lost their scent and that you actually
use. Most dried spices are good for one to four years. After that,
they should be replaced. While you’re at it, there is no sense
keeping spices that you never, ever use. Pitch those.
5.
Purge your paperwork: You likely have quite a few papers in your
home that you really don’t need to be holding onto. Your goal this
month: purge 10 papers a day…from your desk, filing cabinet, paper
piles, etc. Shred paper portions that have account numbers or social
security numbers on them.
Reward List
1.
Visit the local library or book store: Allow yourself a few hours to
browse the books, to borrow or buy them, and to just enjoy some
quiet time to yourself.
2.
Go for a spring hike: Go with a spouse, one of your kids, or a
friend. Enjoy the splendor of the season.
3.
Sign up for a class: What have you been wanting to learn? Sign up
for a pottery class, a cooking class, a gardening demo…whatever
strikes your fancy.
4.
Head to the zoo and/or a local botanical garden: Spend the
whole day there among the animals and/or the flowers. Don’t rush
through. Sit on a bench now and then and truly enjoy the day.
5.
Watch a movie or two: You can do this from the comfort of your
home…or visit your local theater and watch a flick on the big screen.
Maybe, since it’s spring, you may even find a drive-in theater!
