Organizing Challenges Mini Challenges: A Batch for the Season of Thanksgiving Why not make this season of Thanksgiving super special? Here are your mini challenges for the week. They may be small, but they can make a huge impact in your life and the lives of others. 1. Make a concerted donation effort: Why not make a concerted donation effort this month? You’ll be giving your house a lighter feel, and helping others in the process. Try boxing up 10 items a day…and donating the haul to your favorite charity a few days before Thanksgiving. 2. Volunteer a few hours of your time: There’s no better way to make a difference than to help someone in need…whether it’s volunteering at a food kitchen, sharing one of your talents at a nursing home, or helping kids at your school or church. 3. Do something nice for someone…that is unexpected: Life is full of surprises…some good and some bad. Surprise someone this week with something good…like a visit, a phone call, a small gift, an invitation to dinner, or a letter. 4. Make a new dish: This time of year is a great time to try out a recipe, especially if it’s one you may want on your Thanksgiving table. Make it for your family ahead of time to determine if it’s “holiday worthy.” 5. Do something nice for your pet: Life gets busy this time of the year, but special pets still need love. Perhaps your dog needs a new collar, your cat needs a new litter box, or your fish’s aquarium can stand to be deep-cleaned. Give a little extra love wherever it’s needed. Don’t have a pet? Consider making a donation or helping out at your local Humane Society.
