Organizing Challenges Small Accomplishments - 5 Things You Can Start and Finish This Week Small accomplishments give us the energy we need to move on to bigger and better challenges. Here are 5 things you can start...and finish...this week! 1. Quick Clean Counters: Give your bathroom counters (and maybe your toilet as well) a quick clean. Just use a bleach wipe and surface-clean these areas. 2. Create your own, personalized air freshener: All you need is a small spray bottle, your favorite essential oil, and some water. Add about 10-25 drops (depending on how strong you want the smell) of your favorite essential oil to ½ - 1 cup of water, shake and then use as a room spray. Lavender is a common oil to use because of its calming properties, but you can also use sandalwood, orange, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, or even mix some of them together. 3. Disinfect the kitchen sink: Guess what? There are more bacteria living in your kitchen sink than in your toilet. Eeewwww, right? Take a moment to disinfect the kitchen sink, drain, drain stopper, and faucet fixtures. 4. Organize your glove compartment: Take everything out of your glove compartment. If there is loose dirt, wash it out with a damp sponge. When the compartment is clean, replace the items. Reduce clutter by replacing only the things you need or use. Mine includes a folder with my insurance and emergency/medical information, my vehicle’s manual, a local map, pen and paper, a flash light, tissues/napkins in a zipped baggie, a few small, plastic trash bags, and a couple of wrapped granola bars...just in case. 5. Weed out old towels and blankets: Do you have towels and blankets that have seen better days? Check with your local Humane Society. They’re often asking for old towel and blanket donations to help take care of the animals they’re feeding and sheltering.
