I have three strategies. One, I sometimes time how long it takes to do a chore and then try to beat that time. Second, I use a pedometer. In this case my goal is not to be efficient, but to get my exercise. Third, I listen to a book from the library. I put my cassette or CD in an old shoulder bag, so that it easily goes where I go.
