3 Ways to Get Paid Advertising for Less--Or For Free by Maria Gracia Before you go out and spend a lot of money on paid advertising for your business, first consider one of these methods of getting your paid advertising for less, or for no financial cost at all. 1. ASK FOR A FREE AD. This may sound crazy, but it's possible to get certain media outlets to run a 'test ad' for you for free. For instance, contact your local newspaper ad department. Tell them you'd like to run an ad, but you're not sure how many prospects their paper will generate for you. Tell them that if the first ad works out, you'll be willing to purchase additional ads. If they're not agreeable to this, ask them for a first-time customer discount on your ad. It doesn't hurt to ask, and very often, you'll be able to get the ad for less than the regular price, or for free. 2. BARTER YOUR TIME. Offer your organizing services to a media outlet, in exchange for a free or discounted ad. Perhaps you can offer to organize the editors office, or to help the editor's assistant get his or her files in order. 3. SWAP ADS. If you have an e-mail newsletter, find another e-mail newsletter that has a similar number of subscribers. Then ask the publisher of that newsletter, if he or she would be willing to swap an ad with you. In other words, you run an ad for them in one of your newsletters, and they run an ad for you in one of their newsletters. Also, let's say you have 10,000 subscribers and you find an e-zine that has 20,000 subscribers. Be creative. Tell them you'll run two ads for them, if they run one ad for you. They'll be more agreeable if it's an equitable swap. Click to Return to Article Index Copyright 1998 - 2008 Effective Business Systems Get Organized Now!™ 611 Arlington Way Watertown, WI 53094 |
