GON Organizing for Men
Organizing for Men Organize your tail-gate parties for baseball season With baseball season in full swing (and football season not far behind) being organized with tailgate parties will make it less stressful and more fun. Divide responsibilities. Be sure each person or family member is responsible for a tailgate item, like hot dogs, side dishes, disposable dinnerware/cups/silverware, condiments and so on. This takes the financial burden off of any one person. Get there early. Get to the stadium early enough so you aren’t rushed. You need to set up, cook, clean-up, and be in your seats by the start of the game. If the first pitch is thrown at 1:00 P.M., be there by 9:00 A.M. You must have ample time for a proper tailgate. Have good signage and a balloon or two. If others are meeting you there, make it easy to find you. Make a few colorful signs (”Smith Party”) and attach a balloon or two. Make a checklist. List everything you need a few days prior, and check items off as you’re loading them into your car. It’s going to be a pain if you forget the lighter fluid, for example, and have to look around and borrow from someone else. Some essentials that are always on my list: bug spray, trash bags, hand sanitizer, cleaning wipes, a first-aid kit, extra sweatshirts and a few blankets. Make a Tailgate Toolbox. If you tailgate often, keep a toolbox in your trunk that contains tailgate essentials. This way, you won’t have to pack as much each time...it will already be there. Prep your food at home. Skewer kabobs, form hamburger patties, and slice tomatoes and other toppings in advance. Label your cooler(s). Tape sheets of paper to the top of the cooler to identify beer on one side, and soda/water on the other side, for example. Bring extra tables and chairs. Always bring a folding table (or two) and chairs to keep your party area more tidy and a nice experience for your guests.
