Monthly Organizing Checklist March 2017 Ahhhhhh, spring…the season of renewal. It’s the perfect time to get organized. Check out our NEW March 2017 Organizing Checklist! For a PRINTABLE VERSION, click here ____ Mar 1 National Women’s History Month. Learn about some of the women who have changed history by Googling names like Susan B. Anthony and Sojourner Truth, or read one of the several books about Harriet Tubman. ____ Mar 2 Today is National Read Across America Day, which just happens to fall on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Read one of Dr. Seuss’s classics, like “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” or “If I Ran the Circus.” ____ Mar 3 Start organizing your tax information. If it seems overwhelming, break it down into baby steps, like starting a file with a copy of last year’s return and your latest W-2 forms. ____ Mar 4 Streamline your coffee mug collection. Keep the ones you reach for daily and donate the rest. ____ Mar 5 Clean up your reading lists, bookmarks and favorites on your phone or tablet. Read the articles now or delete.  ____ Mar 6 Look for sales on cleaning products in anticipation of spring cleaning. Consider “going green” with environmentally friendly products. ____ Mar 7 National Pancake Day. Surprise your family with a pancake breakfast…for dinner! ____ Mar 8 Go through your jewelry box and keep only those items you actually wear. Take anything that you love, but needs repair, to your local jeweler. ____ Mar 9 Brighten your dining table with a bunch of daffodils. ____ Mar 10 Replace old, worn luggage. Many retailers mark down their luggage at this time of year when fewer people are taking vacations. ____ Mar 11 Set your clock FORWARD one hour for Daylight Savings Time BEFORE YOU GO TO BED if this is applicable to where you live. ____ Mar 12   Weed out excess blankets. Donate them. ____ Mar 13 Switch things up. Take a different route to work. Try a new coffee concoction. Wear an item that you’ve never worn before or a color that you seldom wear. ____ Mar 14 Vacuum thoroughly under your bed. Send those old dust bunnies packing. ____ Mar 15 Clean out 5 file folders. ____ Mar 16 Your pets have spring fever too. Schedule a grooming session for your best friend…dog or cat, or both. Post pictures on Facebook. ____ Mar 17 St. Patrick’s Day. Wear something green. Eat something green. Do some green for the environment. ____ Mar 18 Wash your make-up brushes, eyelash curlers, sharpeners and other tools. Buy a new cosmetics bag in your favorite spring color or fabric. ____ Mar 19 Keep an eye out for robins. In many areas of the country, a robin is the first sign of spring. ____ Mar 20 Today marks the Vernal Equinox, the first day of spring…the day when sun shines directly on the equator and day and night are of approximately equal length. The Equinox symbolizes new beginnings, so it’s a good time to break an old habit or learn a new skill. ____ Mar 21 Freshen your laundry room. Wipe down your washer and dryer. Replenish your laundry supplies and clean your dryer’s lint filter. ____ Mar 22 National Goof Off Day. It may not be possible to stay home from work, but you can bring home take-out for dinner and watch a movie with your family…the goofier, the better . ____ Mar 23 Clean off the surface of your refrigerator door. ____ Mar 24 Launder your curtains and/or send your drapes to the cleaners. ____ Mar 25 Take your family to the movies. Find a movie everyone can agree on. ____ Mar 26 Get rid of one kitchen appliance you never use. ____ Mar 27 Sweep out your fireplace and wood stove. Dust your mantel and surrounding areas where dust and ash have accumulated. ____ Mar 28 It’s still cold in many areas of the country, but a good time to incorporate some of your spring clothes into your wardrobe. Try a favorite tank top or floral print dress with a cardigan for an instant mood boost. ____ Mar 29 Weed out your email inbox…dedicate a half hour to deleting anything you don’t need. ____ Mar 30 Send a written note or card to a friend or a relative you have lost touch with. ____ Mar 31 Plan a creative (silly and sweet; not mean) April Fool’s joke for your spouse or best friend. And don’t forget to be prepared for one to be pulled on you!.
