Organizing ChallengeOrganize your garage in 7 daysNow that spring is here, it’s time to get the garage organized. If you’re letting out a big sigh, don’t fret! Spread your project out among 7 days and you’ll have an organized garage in one week flat. Here goes…•Day 1: Look around, what’s here? Is there room for your car? Place all the things that belong somewhere else in separate piles. Put them where they should go. •Day 2: Organize tools. Sometimes, we we need a particular screwdriver or wrench and can’t find it. Frustrating! Today, organize your tools. If you have a tool chest, pull everything out and reorganize it. Label drawer contents. Bundle cords. •Day 3: Go through cans of sprays and solvents and organize them. Check with your local sanitation department to determine how to safely discard empty or dried up ones. Make a note if they need to be replaced soon. Check sprayers and unclog them if necessary. Put similar items together. An old bookshelf is a good place to keep these types of items.•Day 4: Garden items. Do you have rakes, leaf blowers, potting soil, and/or pots piled in a jumble? Use a shelf or plastic tote near the other gardening supplies to contain them. Consider hanging rakes and other garden tools. Potting soil in a plastic container is less likely to dry out or spill. Toss cracked and broken pots. Clean others and stack.•Day 5: What other large tools do you have stored in the garage? Create a “parking space” for the lawn mower and other large devices. Clean each off before parking.•Day 6: If you have a freezer or refrigerator in the garage clean it out. Discard foods past their expiration dates or with freezer burn. Defrost and wipe down the interior. Inventory what you have.•Day 7: Things are looking good. Today do anything left over. Put items for donation in the car. Sweep the floor, dust corners, and remove cobwebs. Clean fingerprints from light or garage door switches. Take out trash. Now stand back and admire your week's work. Good job!
