Organizing Challenges Sometimes Being Organized is Simply Saying NO to Habits that Cause You to be Disorganized The other day, I watched as my daughter snipped a price tag off a pair of jeans, proceeded to put the tag and thin plastic ring on her bathroom counter, and walk away. ‘STOP,’ I said. Throw those away. Sometimes being organized is simply saying NO to habits that cause you to be disorganized. Here are 5 mini habit-changing challenges for this week. 1. Say no to the snooze button: This week try not to use your snooze button. When your alarm goes off, don’t squeeze in any more shut-eye. Instead turn your alarm off, swing your legs over the edge of the bed and take 5 deep breaths before jumping into action. 2. Don’t just sit there: Lounging in front of the TV is easy, but not healthy or productive. Get up during commercials. Stretch and walk around the room, get a glass of water, or organize/clean something. 3. Don’t leave it for later: One big rule in organizing: don’t leave a mess and leave the room. Every day (right after dinner) have a 25 item family pick-up. Work together to find 25 items that need to be put back into place, like shoes, jackets, toys, dishes, clothes and so on...and put them away. 4. No homeless shoes: Count up the shoes you love. Purchase a shoe rack that fits your closet that will hold those shoes. Shoes organized on a rack, rather than piled on the floor, are then organized and easier to find. When you’re done wearing them, put them on the rack…their home. 5. Don’t allow trash in your purse and/or wallet: Toss out any garbage (gum wrappers, etc.), old and unwanted receipts, TO DO lists from a month ago, etc. from your purse and wallet. Before putting more trash in your wallet, remember that a trash can is generally nearby! Visit Our Get Organized Now! Store to See All of Our GON Products
