Organizing Challenge Easy Challenges…1-2-3…go! One thing I don’t want you to get when you’re trying to get organized is overwhelmed. That’s why I thought up these easy-to- accomplish mini challenges for you this week. 1-2-3…go! 1. Decide on 7 recipes. At dinner tonight, with the assistance of each family member, decide on 7 meals you all like to eat. This will result in your food menu for the next week. 2. Do something “on the wall.” Choose one empty wall in your home...a closet, the laundry room, by the back door...you pick. Next, decide what you could hang on that wall to help you get organized. Here are some ideas: o Create a Mail/Homework center using vertical storage files. o Hang a bulletin board for checklists and important reminders. o Place some hooks to hang purses, scarves, jackets, hats, or even pots and pans. o Hang a shelf for most loved recipe books, glasses, coffee mugs, children’s toys and so on. o Install a wire rack for towels, dishes, or laundry supplies. 3. Disinfect electronics. Some of the “germiest” objects in your home are hand-held electronic devices like computer keyboards, tables, tablet covers, phones, game controls, and remotes. This week, wash your hand-held electronics with a well-wrung out, moistened, disinfectant wipe. 4. Clean out your sock drawer. Remove everything from your sock drawer and wipe it out. Next, decide which socks get to stay and place them back into the drawer. What not to keep? Don’t keep any socks you haven’t worn in the last year, don’t have a mate, or that have holes. 5. Find a window of opportunity, or two. Take the opportunity to clean two of your most frequently looked through windows, like those in your kitchen or family room. Enjoy a smudge free view of your surroundings.
