Organizing Challenges Mini Challenges for the Beginning of the Month There are certain tasks I always like to tackle at the beginning of each month. Here they are: 1. Send out snail mail birthday, anniversary, etc. cards for the whole month: Around the 1st of the month, I send out all snail-mail greeting cards to anyone who’s having a birthday from the 5th of the month…and up until the 5th of next month. Yes, some folks get their greeting a bit early, but by focusing on this task, and writing and mailing them out all at once, I never forgot anyone’s special day. 2. Wash comforters and blankets: I wash bed linens every single week. On the first of the month, I ALSO wash comforters and blankets. Because these items are bulky, I don’t do them in my home washer/dryer. Instead, I bring them to the local Laundromat and do them there, using several machines at the same time. The nice thing at my Laundromat is it’s right next to a coffee shop. So, while I’m waiting, I can enjoy a latte. A friend of mine always stops at Starbucks before heading to her local Laundromat…and enjoys a cup of coffee and a book while waiting for the machines to complete. 3. Find 10 items to donate: I seek out 10 items to donate at the beginning of each month. I look in my clothes closet, the coat closet, the kitchen cabinets, the basement, etc. I put everything in a box, and deliver it to my local charity by the 5th of the month at the latest. 4. I decorate for whatever holiday is coming up: The beginning of the month is a great time to rotate your current decor into storage, and display anything seasonal. 5. I zone in on my calendar: At the beginning of each month, I take a good look at my calendar for the next 30 days. If it seems overwhelming, I cancel or reschedule some events/appointments as needed. If it’s fairly open, I might do something extra, like take a craft class or schedule time with a friend I haven’t seen in awhile. Visit Our Get Organized Now! Store to See All of Our GON Products
