Organizing Challenge 5 Rooms…1 Mini Challenge each Five rooms…one mini challenge each. These are mini goals you can start and complete. Here goes! 1. Get your KITCHEN floor squeaky clean. Using a “green” cleaning solution, get down on your hands and knees and scrub. Washing your floor in this manner may not sound super exciting, but it is the best way to get your kitchen floors clean and free from dirt and grime. To create your green cleaning solution for no-wax floors, add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar to a gallon of warm water and start scrubbing away. Don’t forget to use a thick towel or kneeling pad to cushion your knees. 2. Dust LIVING ROOM lampshades. Unplug your lamp and remove the lampshade. If your lampshade fabric can handle the suction of a vacuum, use your vacuum’s brush attachment to remove dust from the shade. Dampen a rag to clean the inside, (or plastic) area of your shade. If the fabric shade is too delicate, use a painter’s brush and brush the dust away…start at the top and work your way down to the bottom. If you have glass lampshades, completely remove the glass shade away from anything electrical. Soak the glass shade in the sink with warm water and regular dish soap. Remove, rinse, and use a lint-free cloth to dry the shade. Especially with glass, you’ll be surprised what a little lampshade cleaning will do. 3. Clean under the bed in the BEDROOM. Remove anything you’re storing under the bed and return these misplaced items to their proper home. Then, get rid of the dust. If you can move the bed, great! That will make for easier cleaning. If you can’t move the bed, that’s OK. Use the skinny, long-handled vacuum attachment (for carpeting) or a microfiber floor mop (for hard wood floors) and swish it around to catch the dust. 4. Sort through a box in your BASEMENT or ATTIC. Sort through one box you haven’t opened in awhile. Determine if you still really need to keep it, or if can be passed on to another family member or donated. 5. Weed out old BATHROOM products. Weed out all products you never use…toothpaste you don’t like, old cosmetics, rusted razors, excessive hair ties, and the like.
