What’s Your 3-Point Blueprint?I took two fitness training classes in March…one for Aqua Zumba (dance fitness in the pool) and another for Strong by Zumba (high-intensity interval training). In addition to the regular Zumba classes I teach, I’ll be adding these to my roster. I’m excited about both. After those training sessions, I posted about these certifications on Facebook. Doing that resulted in hundreds of people asking how I could teach fitness classes, run my organizing business, handle the needs of my home and family, AND have any time for anything else.My response to them was: it’s all about 1) your specific goals in life and 2) organizing!I recommend you come up with your very own ‘ 3-Point Blueprint.’ You do a lot in life, I’m sure, but what are your 3 MAJOR components? Here are mine:Healthy Living: I want to stay fit and healthy because I love life and I want to do everything I can to be on this earth as long as possible, feeling as good as possible. In addition, teaching others how to do the same is gratifying for me.Organized Living: I adore everything about organizing. Why? Because it helps me be productive AND have time for my family, friends, and relaxation. Plus, I love teaching others how to get and stay organized, because I know what a difference it can make in levels of contentment, happiness, and joy. What better way to make a living, than to share this knowledge?Joyful Living: Granted, some days are more challenging than others, but for the most part, I strive to live a life of happiness and joy. This goal is achieved when I spend time with my family at the dinner table, visit with my extended family in New Jersey, chat with a friend, scrapbook, volunteer my time to a great cause, do something adventurous or outside-my-box, read a good book, eat an amazing meal, or watch a sunset…just to name a few.I then focus everything in my calendar around my 3-Point Blueprint. For instance, to achieve healthy living, I exercise for a minimum of an hour every single day. I decide what healthy foods are going to be on the table, and grocery shop every week…same day, same time…to get the ingredients I need. I take care of my skin before I go to bed at night, and when I wake up in the morning. To achieve organized living, I focus on ONE room per week in my house, being sure to organize one area of that room for about 10-15 minutes, give or take. I do a load or two of laundry per day to keep up with it. I clean as I go, so there is no big mess to handle later. When I’m working, I’m not watching TV or YouTube videos, or chatting with my friends on the phone. It’s a focused effort and I get things done. But I don’t work 7 hours straight. I work in scheduled 30-minute bursts with breaks in between to reward myself for my efforts. To achieve joyful living, my family always eats together, despite crazy school and activity schedules, I schedule in definite time for my hobbies, I read every night before I go to bed without fail, and it’s a rare day that I don’t step outside to watch the sunset. I volunteer when I can. It’s important to me to help others when possible. This, of course, all means that there are MANY things I say NO to that don’t fit in with my 3-Point Blueprint. For example, I don’t spend a whole lot of time baking sugary treats. I don’t blow dry my hair most days. I don’t watch TV on weeknights for more than an hour, and sometimes not at all. I don’t engage in gossip, negativity, or gripe sessions. Just yesterday, I turned down an invitation to a business networking group in town that I wasn’t interested in. You get the idea.Bottom line, to get things done in your life…•Come up with your own 3-Point Blueprint•Be sure you schedule specific time to handle the activities/requests that DO fit your blueprint•Say NO to activities/requests that DO NOT fit your blueprintYou’ll know you have everything worked out and refined when you can’t wait to get up in the morning and take on your day…and when you go to bed at night knowing you lived today according to your life blueprint!
