Hi I live in the UK, Norfolk (east coast). I am in desperate need of organisation as time is paramount being a full time worker.

Married for 30 years, I breed persians and work in ICT as a trainer.

I am currently drowing under boxes of papers which need organising, and having recently moved house, I am still finding the best places for things, and trying to improve my storage of things.

I also need to reduce my food bill which again, organisation is paramount. Looking forward to getting lots of good ideas off everyone on here!

Hello and welcome to the forum and GON, Emerald.

First off enlist some help from your husband, a friend, etc.

Start by making a master list. List every project you need to complete (break big projects into smaller more manageable pieces).
I than divide the projects into pieces based on time. So I reorganize the list that all 10 minute projects are together, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour etc. and I use colour to show different rooms of the house for ex.

Emerald - welcome. My dad is from Newcastle. I loved it over there when I visited.

May I suggest binders for your paperwork. Do you really need to keep all of it - can some be tossed?

Work in Baby steps - one box at a time. Sort first by keepers and tossers, then categories.

The other ladies have given you good suggestions. Hang on to those possessions and knick knacks that you truly LOVE and bring you happiness. Otherwise take a picture and either sell or donate.

Hi Emerald, glad you found us. Check out the thread here about papers and you'll find lots of info on how to control that paper. It is a good place to start. I don't suggest writing down every single thing you have to do.

start with the one thing most urgent, if it is paper than pick a central place to manage that paper and gather up papers from every room in the house and put it there.

The threads in the paper area here have many, many ways to get that paper organized so pop in there and have a read. smile Let us know how you get on.
