Yes Diana, it was Linda's DH. She's doing good. Getting ready to leave Alaska and move in with her son who's getting married soon. The young woman he's marrying has a 2 yr old boy, so she'll be an instant Gma! She's wanting to be closer to be a help to her new family and establish bonds with them. They'll be living in Oregon.

Picked up the two girls last night before church. Then after church, we tried to quickly get everyone settled and in bed. The girls were so excited that it took them forever to fall asleep. One hardly got any sleep, so we're letting her sleep in. They'll get used to it, I'm sure. Just the newness of everything does make it hard to adjust.

Going to do breakfast, devotions, Skype with Linda, then go to town for groceries. My fridge is bare!

Hope you all have a great day! Cya!

Waterlady - Thanks.

The ward manager phoned me back and they want to release Dad either to our home or a council run home. With the first in mind we have the OTs coming in tomorrow to measure up and see what equipment we would need to see if we could take him. If he can't stay here then he would go into a home, but this can be worse as that may mean we would have to sell the house, make the rest of us living here homeless to pay the council bill. This would also mean my dog would have to go into foster care until I found a suitable rental for us to stay together in, as rental with dogs is virtually impossible. Pretty much dumped on either way.

The ironic thing is that Dad can't walk to the end of the ward every day, nor does he know where he lives, nor where he is now, so that is going to be great fun with him here even with the supposed 3-4 carers coming in through out the day. Then who has to arranged for the council run carers and they might not turn up even then.

Anyhow this has totally messed up any agenda I've had, as I've basically got to clean the house from top to bottom before 11am tomorrow when the OTs are due. I'm a bit stressed to say the least and no doubt my brother will do EVERYTHING in his power to mess all today's work up like he usually does and I expect a DIVA strop on top. His already had one just because he may not be able to switch the TV on full volume at 4.30am in the morning and leave that and all the lights on when he goes to work, thus I have to get up and switch it all off. I daydream of a full nights sleep!

I've got a lot done today, but still a lot todo and that with a sore throat starting so I am definately coming down with something.

I've almost got Dads room ready to view (just one box to move), I've got a pile of stuff for the loft (I hope to do that tonight), I've just got to vacuum the front and sitting rooms and then upstairs. I also need to clean the kitchen, the floor and downstairs shower room (thats going to be the worse of them all).

Gawd help em if they want to see my bedroom, as usual its the one thing that gives and it looks 3 feet deep in stuff now, so my 3 weeks work has been for nothing frown

Need lots of your prayers please, as I feel totally dumped on and hopeless at the moment!

Purdy (((HUGS))), I suggest you quick straighten up and vacuum, and quick wipe the floors. Get all the dishes in the sink and soak them while you get something else done.

Your brother needs a big wake-up call as we say here in the States.

Get the big stuff out of the way first and you should see a big improvement. I'm sorry you are faced with this decision and such short notice. We are all here to help!!

Everyone else is doing great!!

I officially have gotten my new mortgage and it's quite affordable. Thank You prayers are in order here!!!

Did my one service job and then another job here at the lake that turned into a nice service job for tomorrow if I can get the material in time. Otherwise, Monday.

I used the weed whacker yesterday when I got back and then raked the back yard. By 5 pm you couldn't tell I cleaned up, grrrrer.

Laura came over and I treated her to take out, we had nice Italian hot appetizers delivered and ate on the deck. YUM.

Have to get something notarized and fed-ex it out, so need to drive to the next town to drop it off this morning. I'd better get moving in case the notary is not in this morning.

Purdy, HUGS!!! Praying for you now. Just take some breaths, and do just ONE thing, then another, then another. You'll do great!! Just babystep your way through. Hang in there girl!

Waterlady, Congrats on the new mortgage! That's wonderful!

The schedule has been tipped upside down here. Since we didn't get the girls to our home until after church, it took them quite a while to settle down. One of them hardly slept. Poor things. Hoping it goes better for them tonight.

Haven't worked out yet, they didn't care for breakfast and wasted most of it, and now I'm trying to come up with things we all can eat without too many complaints.

Well, I'd better get going! Cya!

Purdybear, I just happened to click on this thread and read two or three posts, and I read about the situation with your father. Having had experience with parents with dementia in the UK, I truly sympathise.

It is my understanding that there is no way the council can take your house to pay for your Dad's care and leave you homeless, but perhaps I am wrong, if he owns the house. I still don't see, though, how they could possibly take you out of there unless they found you an affordable alternative. I've read how difficult things are in the UK for families in your situation.

One thing I do know, the hospitals have an agenda to free up beds as fast as possible, whether that is good for the patient or not. My 97 year old stepfather was in hospital "on his last legs" and when I flew over to visit, the OT wanted to chat about his house and record of falls - and he lived alone. (He never returned home as it turned out).

Don't let the authorities push you into anything that is not good for your father or for you, if you can help it. Maybe he is not ready yet to come out of hospital. Praying for you. It's one positive thing we can all do. (((( HUGS ))))

Purdy, sorry things are so difficult, hugs and prayers definitely going your way!

Wendy, such a nice thing you are doing, caring for those girls!

Waterlady, I envy you having great friends to share food and laughs with everyday! I started running because I wanted to shatter a myth I was entertaining about myself... it is hard but I guess I'm like everybody else, my body is adapting and it's getting easier; anyway, running for 2 minutes at a time is!

Today, a little bit of everything, cooking, dishes, laundry, computer(playing and paying bills), reading and sorting papers. I will get ready for work now, must not forget to gas up the car and bring the bug spray; I'm accompanying the kids to soccer practice tonight.

Wendy, hope the girls settle down for your sake.

Bushlady, good advice for Purdy!!

BBGum, I am so lucky and blessed for having friends and food, especially since my huge family upset when mom died. As they say, you can pick your friends, not your relatives. I never thought I would see the day my friends were more important, but, such is life.

Speaking of... waiting for DGF to come down and visit and Laura just went to the store. I'm working on a small eggplant (salting it) and may fry it even though it is way hot here.

Purdy:
Hoping and praying all goes well for you, and you don't have the situations you are thinking may happen. Do your best, and say a prayer.

Wendy:
Yep, gals do that when they are excited. Bet they sleep tonight. LOL

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Had a busy morning, and came home, made some calls, and out for some errands.
WL
So nice of your neighbors and you getting together.
Purdy - Hugs honey and I agree with bushlady don't let yourself or dad be pushed into anything if you are not ready. Before DS was born I worked in adult social care, and the amount of times elderly people were discharged with no support and the relatives were expected to take on their care were not often, but did happen. That should never happen all equipment eg walkers, bath chair etc and support eg carers should be set up BEFORE a person comes out of hospital. Good luck!
I have cleaned the house top to bottom these past few days as well as spend time with DS and DH. Tomorrow I am meeting my dad, sister and nephew so I will be taking a day off from productivity. Night all!
Just had the OTs in for the assessment, which seemed to go well but you never know with these people.
I got everything done with just enough time to freshen up and change, they arrived early which is what I thought they would do.
They plan to release him on the 20th August, but we need some stuff to come in first, and have to re-arrange furniture etc for him to be cared for etc.
I'm going to take the rest of the day off and be a sofa Olympian and then tomorrow I'm getting MY bedroom done - that is if I don't crash from all the work I've done today. Even my dog is exhausted just watching me, his flaked out (he was very good at the visit, not a squeak out of him).
