Organizing? In this heat?

As a professional organizer, August is the slowest month (for me anyway.) It is just too hot. If anyone is doing any organizng, it is to get kids ready for school. Otherwise, I agree- too hot!
However, there are some organized tasks that can help you stay cool. I thought maybe we could collect us some ideas.
Change your AC filters so the AC doesn't have to strain. Make sure your condensation line is dripping! Close blinds or drapes to block out the hot sun. Do make dinner or do your dinner prep early in the morning so that you don't have to do so when it is so hot- and you are hot. Make cold salads. Use your slow cooker- it doesn't heat the house like an oven.
Anyone else have ideas?

I agree; it is too hot! I don't have central air, just a window unit in the bedroom. - Grow shade plants on the south and west side of the house. - Fans - ceiling fans, stand fans, table fans - Keeping the drapes closed - Opening the windows and doors when it is cooler (at night, early morning) - Lots of ice cream!

We have had an extremely hot, dry summer here in Indiana.
Keep hydrated- of course nothing is better for you than water
If you have to go outside in the heat, here is a trick I learned from my niece & her husband. They are landscapers, so they spend alot of time outdoors. They soak bandana style handkerchiefs in water & freeze them. They put them in a small cooler when they leave in the morning. They tie them around their necks for instant cooling during the day.

When DS, DDIL, DGD are visiting at the weekend, they and DH all go down to the beach by the river, and I stay behind for a while because of the heat, but then I slice up watermelon and put it in two containers in a cooler with freezer packs and go and join them. The watermelon is so refreshing in the heat and I have my time in the water to cool off as well, help with a sand castle or two, then leave before the others to get supper on the go.
Lea, I used my slow cooker yesterday for a pork roast and it was an easy meal and like you say, it didn't heat up the kitchen.

Sometimes, people think that slow cooker is only for soups or stews in the winter. But, there are lots of summer dishes and oh, so organized.... like your pork roast.
You can do a pulled pork bbq sandwich, roast chicken to top salads or make chicken salad, side dishes to go with grilled items such as warm German potato salad, summer squash casserole or fresh stewed tomatoes...not to mention baked beans! Getting hungry!
