I had a total crash of my laptop last Tuesday. Lost everything (well, so I thought) but rather than curling up in a ball and crying, I knew that I had everything backed up via online/cloud backup.
The good part is I actually was able to recover just about everything from my hard drive this morning when I found it all hiding in a newly created folder. The bummer is I did lose all of my email for my company since I started my biz. That hurts.
I reinstalled windows 7 and after downloading all 101 updates, I am back in business.
Being totally paranoid now, I also bought an external hard drive with cloud capabilities for a secondary backup. I can access any files on there via my iPhone app as well. Very handy.
My laptop is still acting a bit funky and I'm not sure that it will survive in the long-term and I might go ahead and buy a new one from my biz acct. I can still use the old one to access the internet and also use it to stream stuff to my tv. DD can use it for homework stuff and then just save everything elsewhere. She uses google docs for a lot anyway so that is totally cloud based.
