WL: Very neat!
What a crazy morning I had. As I was standing in my living room this morning talking to DD a car drove very slowly by our house and then parked at the far end of my property on the side of the road (that alone is very unusual). A man got out of the passenger side. I had a feeling they were going to come to my front door and I do not open my door to strangers. So I took DD and myself down to the other end of the house.
One of them did come and ring the doorbell a couple of times. In the meantime, the other was up at my bedroom window making some kind of noise. I assumed then they were up to no good. I probably should have just called 911 but instead I went out my back door and around the other side of my house to the road. By then the passenger had gotten back into the vehicle. From a distance I asked if there was something I could help him with. His only response was to call to his friend and then close the door.
Sure enough here comes another man from around the side of my house. I don't even think he was going to say anything to me so I asked him if there was something he needed. He told me they were looking for a lost dog. I said I had not seen a dog and he got into his vehicle. After a few moments, they drove away.
I feel they were casing our house. If I had not gone outside, they may have tried to break in thinking no one was home. Since we are so far out of town response time from 911 would be a bit. Regardless, I did finally call the sheriff and report the incident and I had gotten the license number of the vehicle and they ran a check on that. They will increase patrols down our road for awhile. I will also go alert my neighbors this evening as we will be leaving for a few days and I would like them to keep an eye on my house.
Relating this to organizing I realize that I don't have my neighbors phone numbers readily accessible. Obviously I know 911 but I had to look up the phone for regular dispatch for non-emergency complaints. So I will be updating our emergency contact list and getting that posted in a good spot in the house. Also thinking about a possible block watch program and might look into how that works.
Also this evening I have groceries still to unpack, shortcake to make, laundry and packing to do, and some other prep for camping. DH will be packing the van tomorrow while I am at work.

Fleur, you brought back memories of water balloon fights, LOL!
BBGum, Prayers for your Mom! I know what you mean about the 2nd bedroom. My office is my "spare" room and always becomes the dumping ground for some reason. It is my "dirty secret" behind the closed door, ROFL!
Diana, Yes, it is a beautiful spot, I have lived on both sides of the lake, once on the lakefront and once up the mountain you can see on the right. Now I am in the boring Village, ROFL! But I can walk to that spot and there is public swimming there also.
Jodi, that is a frightening story. Someone rings the front doorbell and the other usually breaks in the back door. That's a typical break in here. I would alert the sheriff you are going out of town and ask them to watch the house. I have a list of all my neighbors phone numbers, the cops, and the gas emergency right next to my phone. Have needed it several times over the years and when I am stressed, can't rely on my memory for a phone number. I have it in a plastic sleeve so it doesn't smear.
Purdy, enjoy the Olympics! It's non-stop coverage here already.
Well I went to work, had two nice visits and got paid too. LOL. Stopped at the grocery store for a couple of items on the way home, I want to try TinyTina's recipe for chicken she just posted in the recipe forum. When I came back I cleaned my truck out and did a good vacuum in it. Got a lot of my "gear" straightened out too. Feels so good when it's nice and clean!
Put some things away that were laying in the carport into the garage then I quit for the day. I called Laura to come over and we made zucchini pancakes on the deck in the electric frying pan. Yummy they were good! She grilled some chicken and we hung out.
Would like to go to WW this morning and hit the usual stores in that town. I might have to go to the lab today, that's a trip I don't feel like making right now.

Jodi Am so relieved you and DD are okay. Smart thinking, and very scarey, for sure.
WL: You are doing so well, glad to hear that! Will have to check out the receipe.
Just ran to the store this morning for fruit to bring to a luncheon tomorrow. Hopefully the weather will be cooler. It isn't today, over 100 expected. Hard to breathe, which is why I went early.

Whoa Jodi, scary indeed!
I woke up early this morning because the cat kept jumping on the bed, turns out she was playing with an elastic! Went to the bathroom and back to bed, woke up 3 hours later, wow refreshing! Then I made breakfast, watered the plants outside, ate, cleaned up the kitchen, cleaned the litter box and took out the garbage, then branch work and it was time to eat again! Didn't go to the store yesterday, wanted to spend more time with DM, didn't train either, had good intentions of going after work but we went swimming with the kids at work and took a one hour walk later in the evening.
Thought I'd go this morning but seems with the sleeping in late and the work I did in the second bedroom I barely have enough time to get ready and a little down time before leaving for work. Workout clothes and shoes are still in the trunk, I'll go for sure tonight. I watched a show last night (biggest looser rerun of a season I hadn't seen...) and this 372 pounds man ran 5 miles. Now why do I say I can't do it??? I've got to push through the fear...

Man, that's creepy Jodi. Glad you had sharp instincts and called in the incident. Its hard when your sense of safety is messed with.
Long day at work...too much on my plate. Have a few more assignments that I have been tasked and volunteered for. Picked up the pics for cards for photo place and have to finish them off tonight, mail tmorrow. Came home to big surprise...DH in the middle of creating a wooden storage structure in the garage. Maybe this will give some inspiration to get everything organized! Going to grab a bite to eat somewhere out, back to work the next 2 days.

Jodie - You were very lucky, it does sound like they were casing the house. I'm glad it all turned out OK. Waterlady - We don't have full coverage here yet. The British women won the footie yesterday and we've got the men playing tonight. Oh footie here is soccer to you all in America. The excitement has definately started to grow in London with the Torch being at the Globe Theatre today. I'm getting into the swing of 'Spainish type living'. I get up early do the washing and get that out on the line to dry. I've even managed to get stuff dry indoors due to the temperature but it just takes a bit longer. I just have to iron it all I've got the front and sitting rooms done today and vacuumed through. I've almost finished Dads bedroom, I just need to give it a dust and vacuum. I hope to get that done later today after my tea break (now) and then start on my room. My snooze in the afternoon is working well, and I'm still sleeping at night ok. It's just too hot for me to do anything else. The dog isn't liking it much as it's way to hot to take him out. He does have the garden to play in, plus he runs around a lot in the house. Once it's cooled down tomorrow (hopefully) we can get back to the walks. We go predominantly on pavements/walkways so it burns their paws etc and they can get heatstroke of course. It was 30.5 here yesterday and 29 today - too hot for me. PS: Yes it is playing merry H**L with my back, but it should all be finished this week (not my bedroom ofcourse but the rest of it).

BBGum, I went back to bed this morning for an extra 2 hours, felt good. You did a lot!!
Fleur, I'm looking at plans to build an organizer too for the garage, but HD has some ready made plastic shelves that look a lot easier for me!
Karen, picnics are great fun!
Purdy, it's been very hot here also. I don't walk Finn then, or if anything a very short walk back and forth on the street. All paved here also, even on the trail. But the trail is wooded, so it's either steamy hot back there or tolerable.
I went to WW, then went to HD and bought a new area rug for the LR to put down in the fall. Looked at shelving for the garage.
Stopped at WalMart, picked up a few things.
Went to the storage locker and took two more boxes home. They are still in the truck, I will go through them when I get home from work. One is paint and paint supplies and the other has some H/H items. I'll make some tough decisions, I don't have room for anything here.
Came home and had to call the accountant again over Mom's tax returns, I think I got that straightened out.
Suddenly the house feels upside down again, and I have to run out this morning for an early job. I hate coming home to a mess!
DD is coming up tomorrow, so I have to do a quick PUPA. She is taking me to a laser therapy place to quit smoking!! I've been there before and was successful before. Prayers for success would be appreciated!
