Figured it was time to start planning, didn't realize Father's day was next weekend already. My dad is long gone, and DH also, so nothing planned.

4th of July is coming up, and I am gathering up decorations (bought a wreath at the craft show) and am hoping to have some special guests here to help me celebrate. Don't have a lot of decorations for the 4th, but enough to give the house and outside a celebratory feeling.

What are you all planning?

Father's Day is uaually celebrated at DD#1's house with brats (DH's favorite) & burgers on the grill. DSon-IL is from Wisconsin, so he is a pro at grilling brats, & he is a really good sport about grilling in the heat.

My summer decor is a combo of Americana & nautical, so the red, white & blue works for the 4th of July. I do have some cute "firecrackers" that I bought at a craftshow.

My father is no longer with us but we will celebrate with DH. I don't know if I'm working that day or not so I have to wait to see when they get my new schedule up.

Here in Canada we will be celebrating Canada Day instead of the 4th of July. Canada Day is on Sunday, July 1st but will be celebrating on Monday, July 2nd. DH will have flags all over the garden, porch, van and shed. He loves to cover the place in flags. smile

I went and saw DF which of course caused problems. (Remember my DH died on Mother's Day so I can't to do it yet) I reminded her why.

We are celebrating the 30th. Family get together at my Aunts farm and we shot fireworks like New York City does. More we blow up the happier we are. Watermelons are really a blast!!!

Any way I will get better fireworks in Arkansas when I go. They are stronger than ours. I will have to watch how much I spend.

As far as decorations I'm not sure I'll have more than just the flag. If I decide to have some ladies over I will get them down otherwise no. One less than thing to worry about.

Cindy

Just wanted to wish my GONer friends south of the border a very happy 4th of July. I hope that the weather will be kind to you all, and that no one is suffering as a result of the recent heat and storms.

Our 4th of July will be spent inside. We have a heat advisory and it is not worth being out and about. We skipped the fireworks last night for the first time in 11 years. We face the sun in our favorite spot and get there about 3 hrs before to get a parking spot. It would have been too unbearable in the sun that long. There is a big city wide celebration in the next town and they expect 50K+. I hope everyone brings enough water to keep hydrated.

Bushlady:
Thank you. We hit 102 yesterday, and stayed inside. It was very hot!
