To decide what to do with a certain piece of paper my mother, my unsentimental, "don't hold on to things" mother, had kept.

It is a small, approx. 4" x 6", piece of paper. After nearly 56 years, it is now a bit discolored and yellow. On it, there are a few lines drawn in blue ink.

At the bottom of the piece of paper, my mother has written: "Scribbled by Bless, with her father's pen, seated on father's desk" and dated. I had been a few months old. Apparently, my first masterpiece! She had preserved it in my baby book.

To keep, or not to keep. That is the question.

From a totally unsentimental person I too say KEEP! I donated all of DS's baby clothes save one, but his drawings and doodles I chose the best and kept 2 - 3 for each year in a scrapbook. To me they are precious as they show his developing skills.

Reading that back I had the thought maybe I am not that unsentimental, but for me it has to be exceptional to keep. AND that scrap of paper definitely sounds like a keeper.

You have to ask?????

This is definitely a keeper!! Mat it....frame it and put it on the wall.....no clutter that way....DD will love that from you down the road.....and hey, if your unsentimental mother thought enough to treasure it, who are you to question it!!

I say keep too!
Could you make a scrapbook page style composition with a photograph of you and your father? And or mother? And hang it? Lots of old style papers and embellishments to go with the discolored paper and probably old photos... I do not doubt that your lines are exquisite but the writing is what makes it all the more cherishable, makes a statement about you being very much loved by both parents IMHO.

I would keep it in a frame on my desk at home or at work.
