Sorry, I'm still having a problem creating the link back to Part 2.

Everyone is so busy and getting so much done, isn't it great!! I get so inspired reading all your posts!

I crossed a lot off my to do list yesterday. Got the tail light crazy glued so I can go for an inspection, managed to get it on my fingers too!

Dishes done, dog walked, downstairs vacuumed, put away all the coats finally in the attic. Got the laundry all put away, moved some things into the attic against my better judgement, but just wanted them out of sight.

Took apart and cleaned two fans, Laura helped me fold the big tarp I use to cover the mower, etc. in the winter. Got the umbrella on the deck.

Mary sent over dinner Sunday so Laura and I heated it up and ate. Then we walked over to Mary's and my other neighbor came over and we all sat outside. My stepson stopped by, haven't seen him in a long time, so I came home.

Today I need one of the boys to come over and help me get the a/c in the window, we are expecting a big heat wave tomorrow. (I should have asked stepson) That means I better finish up outside also, it will be too hot for yard work the next few days.

Busy couple of days and plans are changing as I type! Home today, getting things done around here. Then tonight we picking up DH from work and Dniece to celebrate her bday. Out for dinner, then frisbee golf! Fun, fun!

Tomorrow, the girls and I were planning to go to AR to meet some TX family members that are vacationing there. Well, I just got off the phone with my cousin and they're all planning to come here! They wanted to see a few things in my town and were going to come anyway! Yea, no 5 hours of driving tomorrow! Some of them I've never met, and others I haven't seen in almost 20 yrs! So excited! Now my DH might even get to meet them! That's what I really wanted! So neat how God works things out!

Hope you all have a great day! Cya!

I've had a busy day to day even though I still don't feel 100%.

Dad went out to the local town on his scooter, so I got the sitting room tided and all downstairs vaccumed.

This afternoon, I found how to do a booklet print on my printer so I can now print off my own filofax stuff from a certain recognised website, but I got creative on my Open Office and I've made up templates for everything I need. I just need to print it all off.

Using the booklet print I will also be able to print my own books then use my new bookbinding skills to make them into books. Oh I'm in for some fun this summer, as I do love to write a good story.

Been in the 90s here....be prepared. It is horrible...

Friend called and we cancelled shopping tomorrow. So glad, I wanted to cancel it myelf. LOL I agree God works in wonderful ways Wendy. The heat is very hard for me.

Wendy:
Very exciting about the family coming to visit! Have a wonderful time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The carpets are done. Need 6 hours to dry. Have the air on.
It is brutal outside! Staying in. Worked on three card items and am now back to beading. I need a break from all the crafting.
Wendy - Thanks for the info on chiggers. I read everything on the link and I am now itching lol. Very interesting though I am glad we don't have them.
Another busy day here. More work in the garden done, more laundry and I cleaned the downstairs toilet. I also had a cup of tea with one of my closest friends, and met my sister and nephew for lunch.
I am tired again tonight so I am off to bed night all!
Had a great time with Linda's DD! Out to eat, then played frisbee golf! Some nice guys even gave us a couple of real frisbees! (We just had some cheap ones we've gathered through the years. These were actual weighted ones! I actually had a chance with it!)
Diana: you be careful in the heat! So wise to stay inside!
Karen: I used to live in NY and never remember getting anything like chiggers or ticks. Can't stand either of them!
Well, I guess I should be heading to bed soon. My cousin didn't leave a message, so I have no idea what the plans are! Cya!
Wendy: Enjoy your time with your family!
Dianaro: Can you send a little heat this way? I would be glad to have it. Maybe we could split the difference and make it comfortable for both of us. Don't you wish we could make that work?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DD and I were working in the living room this evening. Changed out the long curtains for valances for summertime. Were in the process of washing the windows on the inside when she went to the bathroom to get more paper towels. Apparently when I changed the lightbulb in the hall light last week I didn't get the fixture back on tightly. As she was leaving the bathroom, it came crashing down to the floor. Shattered everywhere and scared us both. Unfortunately she also stepped on a piece of glass and cut the bottom of her toe. Luckily it is not a bad cut, could have been much worse. So got all the glass cleaned up (I hope). I need to finish the windows and get the couch back in place. Then vacuum the living room carpet.

Made a new Mexican casserole for dinner tonight. Since it feels like Fall outside a casserole seemed like a good idea. Very tasty!

DS was supposed to have a doubleheader baseball game tonight but it got canceled so trying to make productive use of my unexpected free time.

It was in the mid-90's here today...hot hot! Had a nice relaxing day...browsed pinterest for an hr after waking up, went back to sleep, walked the dogs, played with DS outside, more playing with ds and our neighbor and her ds (water play-fun!), went grocery shopping with MIL and hit 3 stores, including bread outlet. Bought stuff to make 3 or 4 planned dinners. Dinner with Il's...DH grilled hamburgers, corn, and we had baked beans. Went on a walk after dinner, more hanging out with neighbors and kids. Swept hardwood and kitchen floors earlier and got all the stuff in the porch put back in, ate lunch on the porch. Cleaned out one of our kitchen junk drawers and used little baskets that I had purchased for that reason several weeks ago. Cleaned up some of DS' room, outgrown clothes, etc. Still have a ways to go before we can transition him to big boy bed. Our new bed arrived and its comfy. They took away the old one. Finished washing, folding two loads of laundry.

Back to work tmorrow for three days and anticipate little to no productivity on the homefront for me over the next few days. Have a great night all!

Heat wave here as well... with air conditioning half working in the residences I work at, makes it all the more difficult for everyone, clients included!

Monday, 9h at work, 1hr nap, 6hrs of working on assignment, 5hrs sleep.
Tuesday, 8hrs at work, 1hr working with co-worker on assignment, 2hrs nap, 4hrs of working on assignment, 5hrs of sleep ahead if I fall asleep NOW!

Personal comment on recent events and behavior: darn procrastination!!!

I at least managed to get Thursday off instead of working the day shift. Which alleviates some of the stress, so I get the day to finish, review and print before delivering the final product at 6pm. Actually I switched and will be working Friday evening and because of this I will be working 7 days in a row. yay me. not.

DS woke me up at 6am so I have vacuumed the whole of the house, wiped surfaces, skirting boards,and I have rearranged the storage in the living room.

I have also done a load of laundry and put it on the line to dry in the sunshine.

It is only 9am now so the plans for the rest of the day are play with DS this am then take him to nursery, and I am off to school.

My granddad is coming for dinner so not a lot will get done when I get home apart from dinner and dishes. Just as well I will have run out of energy by then smile

WOOO HOOOO! Look at us go!!

Wendy, hope the chigger bites are getting under control!

Purdy, the books sound like fun.

Diana, with the heat the carpets should dry quickly. We are bracing for it today.

Karen, you are busy as usual and getting lots done, and school too!!

Jodi, it's amazing the temperature differences here.

Fleur, you pack in a lot for one day!

BBGum sounds like you could use a good night's sleep.

Well, I did a lot myself yesterday. Worked on the front porch, dusted the whole room and cleaned out the storage bench. Amazing the things I had in there and forgot I even had.

Planted some seeds outside, even though it is really late, did them anyway. Watered the flowers. Got the garbage out.

Washed the inside of the LR windows, got stepson to come by and put the a/c in the window.

Have a pile ready for the shelter, hope to go there today and get it out of here. Have another bag for the donation box (out of season clothes)

Walked Finn. Picked up the mail in town, faxed the new mortgage papers to the accountant to make sure I should accept it.

Took 2 20 minute breaks and started a new book on American history in the Civil War era. Quite interesting and a topic I hardly ever touch. I don't read much anymore so forcing myself to get back into it. Also did a little of the Sunday crossword puzzle.

Hung two things up on the wall (and got them off the floor!)
Returned dishes to my neighbor from Sunday’s dinner.

Got some work for tomorrow and a possible replacement unit sale. I have to figure out the savings for the customer today if they switch over.

Waterlady - yep it will be if I can figure it all out.

A bit of a rest day today, I've done my dailies and that's it. I don't feel like doing much.

I bet you will run out of energy by then Karen. How lovely you are entertaining your granddad for dinner.

~~~~~~~~~~
I honestly enjoyed working on cards,and then sitting on my bed watching tv all night while the carpeting dried! Not the least bit guilty....what could I do? hehehehehe!
Today the day is different. Will take one room at a time and start to put things back in place and clean off table tops and knickknacks as I go. The window washing man called late yesterday and is coming this morning to do the windows! YEA!
I am adjusting to not doing things (not liking it,but) adjusting.
Have a great day, will BBL.
Way to go everyone!
I really want to have my classroom ready to rock and roll today **packed and cleaned (with just two or three small last minute things to do tomorrow).
I can't believe how quickly time is flying by.
I moved up my leaving date by a week due to unforeseen circumstances so now I have 4 days. Lucky we are off from school Friday because my house is a disaster and must be cleaned from top to bottom before leaving and I still need to pack. Don't ask!
I am making great progress in the classroom today but as you can see I am taking it slow. One piece at a time and trying not to stress.
I am running on pure adrenaline at this point and foresee a couple long nights ahead of me.
Hello! I really need to get back here on a regular basis. You ladies are my driving force of motivation and accountability. Since I haven't been around in awhile, my house definitely reflects it!!
Hmmm, productivity for the day - took kiddos to swim lessons. smile
Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a longer list to share.
Fleur - Regarding your post on the previous thread, I always liked to entertain and my husband and I had friends at our house almost every weekend up until about 10 years ago. I still can't believe I've let this get so out of control and it seemed to happen so fast. I am so tired of panicking when the doorbell rings, panicking when DH suggests having someone over, tired of being embarrassed about the condition of my furnishings, tired of spending so much time looking for stuff. It is really ridiculous. I want my life back! You can do it!!
Fleur:
Quote:
Texasgirl...sounds like you have a good mindset in getting rid of stuff you don't love. Wish it would rub off on me!
I began clearing the entertainment center tonight. There was a ridiculous amount of electronics there and we were really only using using the TV and DVD player. Everything is pulled out and in boxes. DH and I will decide what to do with that stuff over the weekend. I am bringing furniture from Mom's house to replace the entertainment center. It will accommodate the big LCD TV and will look less cluttered.
My BIL agreed to help me move the furniture Friday afternoon, so I scheduled 1/2 day of vacation. My goal is to get all that set up before I go to bed Friday night. It's not much, but it gets me one step closer to my goal.
TexasGirl, I got rid of my EC after Christmas and I gained so much room in my small LR, I am still surprised. Babysteps!! You are doing great! Keep us posted on your progress. I think we have all been in your shoes, I know I have. I've been here on GON for 8 years and I'm still tossing stuff all the time.
Diana, did you "watch" the carpets dry, ROFL! Glad you rested.
Tinytina, sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Take a deep breath!
Mapster, glad you are back with us.
Well, the weatherman was right, we are having a heat wave for sure. I'm so glad I got the a/c in. It was so humid here and the temps hit nearly 100.
I managed to go to the shelter and get the big bag off the front porch. Also returned some curtains to a friend that I borrowed to stage mom's. More stuff out of here!
Got gas and came home. I read some more of my book on the deck until it got too hot out. By 4:00 I went into "lockdown" as I call it when I have to shut all the doors and windows to turn on the a/c.
Laura and I decided to make pizza on the grill for dinner, it came out really good and was perfect dinner for a hot night. We did eat outside, despite the heat.
I have two jobs mid-day and I sold that customer a new system too. YAY! Then, I think I should tackle the office while it's cool in the house.
Actually WL, I did watch the carpets dry!
Got the guest room put back together, and started the craft room also yesterday. Just a few more additions to the craft room, and I should be set for the UFP group tomorrow.
Have a card class today. Making a sampler. Love changing those out each month. Don't know what we will be doing this month.
Always a good surprise.
Looking like rain (which we need) Fortunately most of my windows are covered with an overhang so if it should rain, it won't ruin the great job the guy did.
Gathering up a few more books to sell to half price books.
Babysteps.
mapster:
GOOD to see you again. You will do fine just keep working those babysteps!
This morning I recieved a new multi storey magazine wrack/newspaper stand and have spent the whole time trying to put it together. Little screws have been lost, a bold screw wont go down far enough and it's complete mayhem. It does look great. I'm hoping to put all the stuff by my chair in/on it and thus take up less space on the arms.
The Filofax is working very well so far but it is early days. I never buy them new but get them from Ebay.
Started to work out what to get everyone for Christmas and then I can have lots of time to get them before the stress of December.
Tina: Hope you got everything done in your classroom.
Waterlady: I'm happy trouble even imagining 100 degree heat! It has at least been sunny here the last couple of days but rain is expected for the weekend....of course!
Texasgirl: It can happen so fast! I still have moments I hope no one will just drop by. Life can get so busy and it's like we are using the house as a drop zone between activities and at times that is pretty much what it looks like! It just takes consistent effort.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Still getting used to a summer schedule and this is not an ordinary summer. DH got laid off from work in April. He has been on standby but he is starting to seriously look for other work. He has been doing a part time job (three days a week) so right now the schedule is different each week.

This year since he is not managing the All Star team there is a lot less paperwork and general stuff that we are not in charge of so I have not been attending the three hour practices each evening. That means DD and I have been home and I have been trying to be productive.

Took DD in to get her eyes checked yesterday and she needs glasses. Already ordered one pair but she wanted to shop online for frames and so we did a bit of that last night. Although one of our opticians sent home a couple more frames for her to try and she really loves one of them. So will get those made up for her today as her back-up pair. We had loads of fun uploading her pic and "trying on" frames!

Today I have a management meeting for work and a few errands to run. Need to make a grocery list and will do that shopping tomorrow. Will be gone all weekend for baseball and DD will be spending time with Grandma so need to get everything organized and ready over the next two evenings.

Purdy, the rack sounds interesting.

Jodi, I know the "drop zone" look! Often see it here, too!

OK, I got up at 4:30 this morning, couldn't sleep. Got the kitchen done, watered the flowers, etc. before 8 am. Cleaned off the kitchen counter papers, filed them.

Took a shower, washed my hair and from 10 until 11:15 waited for the UPS guy to make my delivery (usual delivery time)that I need for today at 1:00.

My supplier calls and decided to drive the stuff here instead of shipping, so I am still sitting and waiting!! (does save me lots of money) Except, I have to be at the customers before his refrigerator gets delivered today at 1:00 to hook up the water!! And the part is on the truck! UGGH. I also had to cancel my other appointment.

Sorry for venting, but I've wasted 3 hours already.

Waterlady: what got me interested in history was family tree research. As soon as I learned of an ancestor who fought in the Civil War, or was connected to any interesting time or place in history, that gave me the desire to learn more about those times and places!

Today I managed to do a few things. It didn't seem like much until I listed them:

House: did laundry; bought a few groceries; (a big deal as it's an hour's drive both ways to buy anything or go anywhere from home!)

Self: washed hair; walked the treadmill for the first time since Christmas (Significant, as had a long recovery from a foot injury). Saw my accupressure-ist for my shoulder, too. (It helped!)

Hobbies: I wrote up and sent out a newsletter; (It takes me a long time to compose anything.); ordered some scrapping supplies I couldn't resist that were on sale.

Spiritual, Friends: Attended Bible study/potluck. A nice combination!

Wasn't able to go to work today (SWAT activity in the immediate neighborhood of the church I work at) so I put my time to good use at home.

I got laundry washed, dried, folded and put away/hung up. Did the dailies and then tackled the living room. I did some decluttering and tossing and it looks so much better! Still have a little bit left to work away at but it's so much better. I also got my kitchen straightened up, counters cleaned, put a new table covering on the table (I use my quilts as table covers), washed, dried and folded & put away the other one. Then dh and I took the motor home in to have a fogged up window repaired. It will likely have to be replaced but better that than not be able to see out that window when driving.

Dinner was steaks cooked on the grill with some roasted asparagus and broccoli and a green salad. Yum! Now it's just a relaxing evening for the 2 of us. I like those nights! It's probably back to work tomorrow...by the time the SWAT teams found the suspect it was close to 3 and I decided to just wait and go in tomorrow morning and not worry today. Busy weekend coming up too but I'm learning to pace myself so I don't get too out of breath. It's getting better but I still have to be careful. Slow and steady!

Yesterday I did some gardening in between the rain showers and met my dad and aunt for a late lunch. I then began to pack for our long weekend in Wales.

I woke in the night to the noise of heavy rain and when I got up this morning it has continued to rain. Typical! It was sunny Monday to Weds while I was in school. Oh well a bit of rain or even a lot of rain will not stop us having fun on our holiday we are used to it smile

I will be back Monday evening so I will catch up with you all then. Have a great weekend all!

So, I was able to be a little productive. Last night I wasn't sleepy, so I rearranged some furniture in the living room, which entailed vacuuming all those hidden corners after furniture was moved.

Then today, I emptied one box that was still not unpacked from our move. Put some stuff in donation box, put the rest away.

Then, I tackled a huge stack of papers. Shredded, trashed, or recycle bin for most. I have a few left to file now, but the stack is so tiny now, compared to what it was.

Tossed some meat and veggies in the crockpot this morning for supper this evening and took the kiddos to swim lessons. We were supposed to go directly from one pool to another to attend a pool party, but as we were leaving lessons, DS wiped out on the concrete and skinned his knee pretty bad so we just came home instead.

Oh, I also switched out loads of laundry, but that is pretty much an everyday occurrence around here, so I don't even count it as productivity, really. It's like breathing. LOL Productivity is when it actually gets put away instead of folded in a stack on a dresser or couch somewhere! (That didn't happen. smile )

Waterlady: It works brilliantly and is from Ebay as always for me. It is basically a narrow book case with two magazine wracks on the back. I've put my knitting on the bottom shelf (later that will be for my handbag/purse ), the next shelf for creative stuff/pc discs and the top shelf is going to be for drinks, or my current read. At the bottom back magazine shelf I've put my purchase and account ledgers I use daily/weekly and on the next one up dictionaries and my filofax. It sits next to my chair and makes the arms completely clear of stuff.

Today I've gone a little bit potty and did the following:

1. Washed a carpet.
2. Trimmed the dead heads from roses, cut the top of a small tree and dug up a weed.
4. Filled up the pond.
5. Typed up and printed the month to a page for 2013, it took me a while to get them right back to back. You have to put January then March with February and April on the back, so when you cut them into A5 you have the right months on the reverse.
I'm now cooking lunch and having a rest.

Jo, I do like history, but my favorite reading is murder mystery fiction. Mom and I used to swap all the time. So this is a big change!

Looks like everyone took full advantage of yesterday and got lots done.

Well after all the confusion yesterday of waiting here for the truck, it turns out someone forgot to tell me the truck was sitting in NJ waiting for me to meet him. He had to leave, so I had to drive North to his next stop and I finally got my part at 3:00. Five hours of waiting, UGH! It was ok, the refrigerator delivery was late anyway.

Came home and blocked the stairway opening to keep the house cooler. Laura came over later with dinner and we were able to sit outside. New neighbor came over with her daughter and we all hung out on the deck. Finn is in awe, he loves "little people", he is never around them, and his breed is famous for being great with children.

Have one job today (yesterday's cancellation), then have to pick up money from another job I did a few weeks ago. (yippee!)

Severe T-storms coming this afternoon, hope I get home first. I am terrified of thunder when I am alone!

Whew, one day you will look back at this time and wonder how you did it all, but you do it! It really is the best time, believe it or not.

So sorry about DH's job. These times are hard. It has been awhile hasn't it?

Don't forget to breathe, and take a few minutes for yourself each day, those babysteps can wait 20 minutes!

Good going with "trying on glasses on line" So great to do that!

Well the weather is much cooler compared to the past few days.
Feel more human!

Finally went for a run on my own this morning. DH hasn't been able to run with me. He's either been too tired, or our evenings have been filled. Had to do something as I've been gaining weight again.

Yesterday I started to change out DD#2's head/footboard. The old one was really showing it's age. DMIL had one from a workhouse that was much sturdier, so we replaced it. Did have to make a quick trip into town though, the bolts weren't quite long enough. Bad thing was that I forgot to buy bed risers! (Dh is getting some on his way home from work)

I was going to just drill new holes and raise the frame to where we needed it, but the mattress would have been 4 inches taller than the footboard. Not good.

Today, I'm going to get back to sewing. I really must get DD's quilt and curtains done! DD#1's bday is in Sept and she's been hinting about updating her room. She will turn 13, so it might just be in order. Will have to talk with DH about that.

Hope you all have a great day! Cya~!

Dianaro: Thank you. We have been riding a roller coaster with DH's job for at least the last 5 years if not longer. This was not necessarily a surprise and was planned for financially. Still tough, especially for him. But I know there is a plan and everything will work out! In the meantime, his schedule is more flexible for baseball season. Have to look at the bright side!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am trying to remember what I accomplished last night, LOL! I think I mostly puttered since no major accomplishment comes to mind.
I am work early this morning and will get off around 4:00 to meet DH and the kids. We are participating in an Amazing Race style adventure this summer and we need to complete our second hike. Hoping the weather holds! Have several errands to run at lunchtime.
Thanks for the great support and encouragement! I was feeling a little overwhelmed last night, but oh, my goodness! I have had a very productive day. With BIL's assistance, I got all but two pieces of furniture that I have planned for. I got three of the pieces cleaned up and set up in the living room to replace the the very cluttered entertainment center. The new furniture has so much storage that I was able to get all of our electronics in it with room left over and none of it shows. I was also able to get the good TV from the bedroom to the living room and it fit perfectly. If it had been an inch wider it wouldn't have worked. I took pictures and sent to my sister and niece.
I posted the replaced entertainment center on Craigslist, but I don't have much faith that I will be able to get rid of it, even though it is really cute. I don't want it to stay around here past the weekend. It is taking up too much space.
I have been working steady since about 2:00 this afternoon (it is 9pm now and we haven't eaten supper, so I should probably quit for a while but it's difficult when I am so motivated. Also, I have a piece of furniture still sitting outside.
Thanks again for the support! You are all so inspirational!
Wendy: It is a contest sponsored by our local hospital. Every two weeks they e-mail you a hike with instructions on where to find a hidden box at the end. You do the hike, find the box and take a picture of your team at the box to prove you were all there. In each box are clues to a mental challenge. At the conclusion of 6 or 7 hikes you will try to use all the clues you have gathered to figure out the mental challenge. That should lead you to the location of the final hike.
There are prizes for the top 10 teams to finish the entire challenge. Everyone gets the first 6-7 hikes at the same time. The race will come in when it's time to solve the mental puzzle.
We finished hike #2 tonight and now have four pieces of the clue to the final puzzle. It was a rainy evening but we decided just to go for it. In the woods it wasn't too bad at all. We got a little wet on the summit of the hike but it was a great adventure and we enjoyed ourselves. Sometimes in the Northwest, you have to hike in the rain!
We are not really expecting to win any of the prizes, although that would be neat. It is more just a fun family thing to do and we are fans of the Amazing Race on TV.
Back home now and preparing for an early morning departure for baseball. Riding down with one of the other baseball families so that will be enjoyable.
Texas Girl, bet it feels great to change the furnishings, etc.
Jodi, don't you also do geocaching? Sounds like fun with the family.
Tina, whew! You did a lot!
Bless, too hot here for gardening.
Wendy, good luck on the sewing.
Diana, what does UFP stand for?
I got a lot done yesterday, I picked up the money, went to two big box stores, made a return in one, then bought a new screen door in the other. Now I have to get help trimming it so I can hang it. Maybe Laura's BF will help me. Got the dog biscuits at BJ's.
Went to see a new customer for yearly service and hopefully, I will sell them an additional system they are interested in.
Tried two lawnmower places looking for a stupid seal, unfortunately I had to order it online. $2 part and $10 shipping.
Went to the bank and the post office. Came home in time for the thunderstorms that were brief and little rain. It did cool off a lot! BBQ'd some chicken and had some leftover sides.
It's beautiful out this morning, so will probably work in the yard.
WL asked the question I was thinking. It sounds like such fun, and what adventures for all of you.
WL:
UFP stands for Un Finished Projects! We all have tons of them, and work on things, have a show and tell, and eat and gabb!
We meet the 2nd and 4th Friday each month from 1-4 here at my house....ever in the area, park on the driveway and come on in!
You certainly did get a lot done!
Great going everyone.
I did one of those mini hurricanes this morning:
1. Pruned more roses.
2. Pruned blackberry bush and pulled up some bined weed.
3. Got it all in the recyclling bin etc.
4. Fed the fish.
5. Typed up and printed off four forms for the filofax.
6. Printed off and updated the photos in my dog emergency id forms.
7. Downloaded a lot of freebee books to read.
8. Did the dog grooming, training and teeth brushing.
9. Cooked breakfast and lunch, about to do dinner.
Waterlady: I've been hearing about how hot it is over there on the news! We are still relatively mild with temps in the 70s and 80s. Our hot weather will come later, in Aug. & Sept.
Yesterday, I picked up the cat's medications and gave him the pills; stripped DD's beds (2 twin beds, one of which tucks under the other, but was pulled out because 2 friends slept over, this week) and washed all her sheets and quilts (2 loads) and remade the beds; prepared dinner & did the dishes; watched a travel program on TV and read.
Today, so far, I have taken DD to gymnastics and back, worked on some office documents, and made myself breakfast. Plans for the rest of the day include taking DD to campus to pick up her pay check, going to the ethnic grocery store, taking DD shopping for clothes, laundering my bedding, and going through that bag of papers I didn't do yesterday.
Waterlady and Dianaro: Yep, still geocache too! We found our 700th geocache last month and working toward 800. Found one last night while doing the Amazing Race hike.
Well, baseball delayed today due to non-stop rain! So went to breakfast at DM's and then back home. Working on re-activating a cell phone for DH and did a load of laundry. Just finished lunch and will be heading out soon.
The landscaper has been here cleaning up the area, and looks wonderful, but didn't go downstairs in case they would need me for something, so instead, I made some cards,
did my weekly laundry (last batch in the dryer),and worked on some crocheting. Not able to leave for church today either, will do it tomorrow.
Anyhow, happy with the ETEing and laundry getting done. Might
work in the branch work pantry today (Its in the laundry room).
Very relaxing and lazy day here...slept in until 8:30 (on work days I usually get up at 5:15), did a little bit of nothing around the house, finally washed up my dirty crocs, went to the mall for kids event that DS wanted nothing to do with. Ended up at the mall playground for a while. Picked up a grill thing, sunglasses for DS, and socks for me at the dollar store. Long nap for everyone (except DS who protested!) Made asian lettuce wraps for dinner, washed all dishes, and wiped down the majority of kitchen countertops. Played outside for the last 1 1/2 hrs, ate our homemade yogurt popsicles (yum) and giving DS a bath now. May watch a netflix movie later.
Have fun all!
Managed to get everything vital done today before leaving, had some great friends that helped and we got most of their stuff moved into my old place before I left.
I flew to the nearest city and ran a couple errands.
Have an early flight tomorrow.
Another productive day! I got a big entertainment center out of the house. I worked in the front bedroom, the room with too many purposes. I was able to get one more piece of furniture in place. It looks nice and had enough storage space to accommodate all the toys my niece plays with when she comes over so that freed up one big mess! I found a boot box full of receipts and owners manuals. I don't have any idea why I was keeping all those receipts but I can tell you that I ate fried chicken for lunch May 23, 2006. smile I just made one pass through the box because I am working on the big bulky items first. I made room for the final piece of furniture for that room. I picked it up tonight so I will try to get it in the house and set up sometime in the next few days. It is funny that I am actually adding furniture but the room already looks less cluttered. Even DH commented that it looks nice. He usually doesn't comment. I need to start on the closet next. It has served as storage for DHs business supplies, computer parts, software, etc. Much of it is out of date and needs to be thrown out. I hope he will agree!!
Purdy, send the energy bottle this way please!!
Bless, it was HOT here, but this morning it's a beautiful 52 degrees, will warm up later.
Tinytina, have a safe trip!
Fleur, that's a relaxing day?? Sounds pretty busy to me!
TexasGirl- You go girl!! So funny about the chicken, I had a good laugh, I saved receipts like that too!
Diana, would love to surprise you someday and pull up!! LOL
Well, yesterday got messed up for me. I had a list of things to do and my new neighbor asked me to watch her little girl for an hour. When I got home, I lost all steam.
It was a gorgeous day, I walked Finn, cleaned the DR fan so I could put it in the window. Laura came home and we hung out for a while on the deck. They filmed a movie here last summer and there was a free screening on the lake last night, I didn't go but Laura did.
Today I just re-did my "want to do" list. Have a recipe to make, but need two tomatoes, there is supposed to be a new produce place in town I might try.
Waterlady - flings bottle your way!
I got a fare bit done today:
1. I walked the dog as it was raining and Dad doesn't like to go out on his scooter in the wet.
2. Trimmed more roses and got rid of some more bind weed.
3. Fed the fish.
4. Did the usual meals.
5. Got the rubbish, recycling and accounts done.
6. Looked up the spelling rules on line and printed off the maths time tables up to 30 x.
7. Half the ironing done.
Yesterday afternoon, as planned, I took DD to campus to pick up her pay check, went to the ethnic grocery store and indulged in several "tastes of home" comfort food items, took DD shopping for clothes (she bought 17 items for $114 total!), and came home and took a long nap (not planned, but much needed after all that clothes shopping!) Afterwards, I laundered my bedding, replaced 3 broken slats in the family room vertical blinds (and washed the blinds), cooked dinner and ran the dishwasher. Then, stayed up late, reading!
Enjoying the day...took the dogs out for a long walk. DH and I got some stuff done around the house (gardening for DH and I got the stuff off the kitchen floor (from our patio redo), moved to appropriate places, swept and mopped the kitchen floor. Two loads of laundry in the process. Packed up to go to the sprayground and had a blast with DS. Got him a shower and lunch after coming home, wiped down kitchen table.
DH went to help out his brother for the afternoon...have a few hours to get stuff done (if I don't take a nap!).
Working on cleaning/decluttering the master bedroom and making progress. Found our video battery charger that I lost in March...woohoo!
Sunday was a good day. I picked up my niece, age 7, and we stayed busy eating, buying paint and new bathroom fixtures, getting pedicures and manicures, then she got to meet one of my friends. The three of us spent this beautiful evening sitting on the tailgate of my pickup at our property out in the country watching the sun go down. It doesn't get much better than that, especially when I did it without feeling guilty that I wasn't doing something at the house.
The contractor will get back to work on my bathroom tomorrow after taking a week off. Getting that room completed will relieve some stress and I am just really excited to have something new!
Everyone have a great week!
Half way through the day and feel I've got a lot done on my todo list which is huggggggggggggggge:
1. Changed the beds, and cleaned my room up.
2. Pile all the paperwork to be sorted into a huge tote. I'm sure it breeds in the night.
3. Did a card for one of my Drs who is retireing soon.
4. Tested the smoke alarms.
5. Went through my English flash cards and began to do some for maths time tables.
I've got loads to do this afternoon but I will see how I'm going and have a long rest if I'm not up to it.
So I had the carpeting cleaned, rooms all put back together and cleaned, the windows washed on both sides, cleaned screens also,
yard completely weeded and brought back to order! WHOOOOO HOOOOOOO This gal is happy dancing away!
Purdy, I hear you on the papers breeding in the night. I think they breed every time I turn my back!
Was a beautiful day again yesterday. I barely got anything done. Sat on the deck and did a lot of the Sunday Crossword puzzle.
Got the tomatoes in town and made a new pasta salad. Picked up two things at the hardware store and got a few items at the super drug store. Sometimes their prices are much lower than the supermarket and I had some "extra bucks" to make it even cheaper. I love a bargain!
Laura made dinner and I shared the pasta salad. Honestly I don't know what I did all day, but I know I took it easy!
Made a mediocre new recipe last night, but a nice new summer dessert (ambrosia). Watched warhorse. This morning, took the dogs for long walk, vacuumed and cleaned out the car, packed up my bike and brought it to the store to get the tires pumped up, met friend and her lo for playdate and lunch, made pool plans with her for tmorrow, back for no nap for DS. Two loads of laundry in progress. Going to farmers market in a bit and back home for some playtime!
Got a lot of sewing done today!! Started on the quilt!!! Pinned top, batting and bottom together. Then started sewing "in the ditches" to connect them. I'm just about finished with sewing all the ditches! Then I just need to figure out how I'm going to finish the edges and I'll be done!!
Then I have three more curtain panels and refiguring some twin sheets I bought to make curtains for her closet! I can see being finished before next week the way I'm going!
It really helped that both girls got right on their chores, so that freed me to sew! I hope they see the fruit of it!
Well, DH is home and I need to throw supper together. Cya!
Everybody is so busy! Great job!
I didn't post over the weekend, but I did get a good bit accomplished. I sorted through the kids' playroom/dressing room and decluttered in there. I finally got all the toys and stuffed animals out of boxes, rubbermaid totes and the laundry basket and put them away. They'd been sitting in there for almost a month since we rearranged rooms. While I was doing all of that, DH had taken the kids to SeaWorld for a few hours, so I had quiet time while I worked. Bonus! I also found lots of "little bits and pieces" of stuff that was just...trash, so that is where it went. Tons of papers to recycling. I think my kids produce paper in their spare time, maybe? I haven't found their secret mill yet, but man oh man, where else would it come from? smile
I finally got all the clothes put away too, now that I could cross the "terrain" without fear of breaking an ankle. LOL I'm not sure how many loads of laundry I did, but it was quite a few...and put away, which counts as productivity for me. Wash, dry, fold doesn't count, but put away does! Decluttering and organizing rooms also = vacuuming and dusting as I go along.
Today we did school this morning, then took the kids to swim lessons this afternoon. When I got home, I cleaned up dishes that didn't get finished yesterday, then made up a batch of bread dough to make chicken caesar stuffed bread rolls for lunch tomorrow. My (Grandma's) dough recipe is HUGE, so I also made up a pan of cinnamon rolls for breakfast tomorrow and put some dough away in the fridge to have flap jacks for breakfast this weekend (fried dough, like elephant ears, but smaller). While I was making all that, I threw a Costco pizza in the oven for supper because the other stuff wouldn't be ready in time. I cooked up the chicken and mixed up the filling mixture and made the rolls. Now they are cooling so I can put them away for the night. This was a trial run - if these work out nicely, I will make a large batch of them to have in the freezer on hand for quick and easy lunches or suppers.
Maybe we need to rename this month's thread June Energizer Month, everyone is doing so much!!
I got a call yesterday morning the delivery truck was coming up this way, so I had to meet it in NJ again. I stopped at Home Depot and bought some flowers and a shrub on the way home. Got gas real cheap.
Laura came over when I got back and we sat outside a bit until we got a sudden storm.
Made a bunch of phone calls for work, walked the dog a short walk , ate leftovers for dinner. Got the kitchen cleaned up.
Today is garbage day, I'll be cleaning out the refrigerator this morning before I leave for work. I have one job here in town and it shouldn't take me long.
Dianaro - I took a rest and looked at a few things on Ebay. I just don't seem to have any energy in the afternoons.
Waterlady - I agree on breeding paper, I just don't know where it comes from.
I have got the sitting room dusted, tided and vacuumed and the front room floor done as well. I then put on lunch and went to tackle more paperwork in the bedroom.
I remembered to stop five minutes before I wanted to, so I could clear up. I used to do this when I was very small and unbelievably minimalistic, infact my bedroom was the tidest in the house. Looking at my current bedroom you wouldn't think it was the same person living there. LOL!
Thursday I had to go into Montreal to drop off my school work and attend a one hour scheduled meeting for the next big assignment and I couldn’t make it in time! It usually takes me about 35 minutes with minimal traffic, since it was at 6:00 I thought leaving an hour ahead would be sufficient. Didn’t turn out that way! It was the hottest day in the heat wave and last day of most colleges, it turned out a massive clog on the freeway. Car was almost over heating, air conditioning gave out and I started to doubt I would have enough gas. I got scared I’d be stranded in this mess. I do not like to drive in the city!
Since I estimated my arrival at 15min before the end of the meeting I decided to turn around and get out of this mess. Well I ended up in another mess, 45 minutes getting to the next exit and finally gasing up. Two hour trip to gas up the car is what I ended up doing Thursday evening instead of delivering my school work. Most of my evening was shot so I took what usable time I had left and got a second key for DGF, she needed it to come and use the washing machine, hers is dead and was in a bind... I also got my new glasses, boy this isn’t fun, don’t like it one bit.
I worked on proof reading and redoing some parts of my assignment Friday morning, called the lady at school and got a meeting with her at 1:00, got there on time and she explained to me the next assignment as well as gave me the needed paperwork. I also took co-worker’s (also in the same program) papers because he had difficulties as well. Got into more traffic! Being Friday seemed everyone finished working at lunch time! Sheesh!!! Arrived a little late into work, thanking higher powers for working air conditioning... Love summer, not in traffic though.
Was working Saturday morning so very little sleep, had a good day, crashed on the sofa and napped for an hour then rented movies for the rest of the evening, ate frozen leftovers and that was it. Slept a good 7 hours without interruptions, yay! Got back to work at 6:30 again, another not so bad day, only got hit once and most of the kids where happy and cooperative smirk.
Monday was a little more difficult, worked the day shift again but had a headache most of the day, had a good chat with a loved co-worker I rarely see anymore, opposite working shifts and she took it easy this summer with only 3 working shifts per week. Lucky her if she can afford it. I got home, took another nap, this weather is tiring me out! I cooked supper and washed the sitting dishes in the sink from the weekend, then watched another movie before going to bed. After working so hard all last week on school assignment I really felt I needed this down time. What a luxury to have organizing skills, I can still do nothing for two days and be on top of things! I knew I had some time Tuesday to take care of stuff and it wouldn’t be overwhelming.
This morning I slept in as long as I could. Got up after hearing the recycling trucks on their weekly route, and remembered I didn’t get mine in the big bins last night (okay so my skills still need fine tuning!). Too late now, so I brought the bins on the side of the road back where they belong and emptied mine in. Usually the son’s property owner living beneath my place does it. I watered the outside plants then I had breakfast out on the patio. Sky was covering up so I came back in to do some much needed house work.
Finally got around to replacing those burnt out bulbs in the entry light fixture, also did some budgeting and filing this morning. That takes care of branch 1.
I dusted the living room furniture as well as my bedroom furniture with endust.
I cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom, top to bottom: appliances, countertops, door fronts and sanitary. That takes care of the weekly cleaning.
I had done some clothes washing last week, so put that away.
Now posting and then a bite to eat before getting ready for work again. I need to get in early as I have some work on the computer to take care of which I can never do when I’m taking care of the kids!
It must be an Energizer Month! For me it's kinda a "Just do it and get it done with already" month! I'm tired of saying that I'm going to do something and just want to be able to say IT'S DONE!!
This morning I wanted to do something for DH. He's been extremely tired lately. Working overtime, the heat, and dealing with Epstein Barr Virus is really doing it's toll on him. EBV is a virus that makes him extremely tired, kinda like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. He's on meds, but they're not quite doing it yet. The Dr. explained that this isn't a scenario where you can prescribe an antibiotic and get over it in a few days or even weeks. We're fighting this for the long haul. Please pray for him as he doesn't have a lot of energy to do a lot, but wants to push himself. Getting him to slow down isn't easy.
Last night DH wanted to mow the lawn, but was too tired. So this morning, I pushed mowed the parts around the house for about an hour. Then I watered all the plants and weeded around the back side of the house while chatting with Linda on the phone.
I just showered and now am readying to do my next project. DD's quilt. Would be so happy to have that completed today. So that's my goal.
Cya later!
Wendy, glad that you can be there for your DH as he deals with changes in his health. Taking it easy is a very hard thing for men to do.
Beautiful day here and the perfect temperature. Took dogs out for walk, had DH help me make phone calls r/t transfer of insurance, made pancakes for DS, paid a bill, mailed out a few more things, long bike ride with the family.
Found my paper shredder a few ago (after losing it for many months). Decided to tackle the huge bag of paperwork with DS who had fun helping. 1/2 way done and 1/2 to go. Fun to do it in the porch.
Going to get some stuff done, then headed out for a pool playdate and dinner. Back to work tmorrow for the rest of the week.
Yesterday, I watered the garden and indoor plants, took the car in for an oil change, took DD to the bank, did grocery shopping, went shopping with DD for clothes and shoes for her, and cleaned the kitchen.
Today, called the tax preparer re. IRS letter. Still need to pay bills, do paperwork & filing, take DD to return something she bought, and clean the bathrooms.
WOW! You have all been busy while I have been away. I had a lovely long weekend break and we only had a few hours of rain over the three days smile
We walked on the beach, built sandcastles and flew a kite as well as swimming and relaxing lovely!
We got back yesterday afternoon and I started the laundry immediately. Two loads later and we are done.
Today I have been painting the neighbors fence (what can I say I am a nice person wink ) and DH has cut all the hedges in our front garden.
We then went to the in laws and visited with them all afternoon. On our return home I packaged all my ebay sales then went and posted them. We have just had dinner and are now relaxing. Night all!
Well, my DH seems to enjoy the chicken bread bakes I made. He took one with him for lunch and I got a text a little while ago that they are sooooooo awesome I should make them everyday for every meal. A co-worker tried some as well and "went crazy" over it, too. The ones I made are quite big, so maybe I can make some mini ones for DH's shop some day. smile
No productivity to report yet, except a shower this morning. We're going to do some school (studying the Olympics), swim lessons, then I have a training meeting this afternoon/evening, so other than supper and dishes, I probably won't accomplish much in the way of housework, except maybe finishing up some laundry.
After damp-mopping much of the basement floor I dived back into my heritage album and sorted many photos into categories. At least now when I go down to work on it, I have an idea where to start. I'm dragging out the little personal items owned by my dad to photograph and add to his album.
Other areas: Planning vacation trip, keeping up with the housework and laundry, building friendships.
Called the dentist to arrange appointments for DDs and me. Also created a handout for the kids we'll be teaching at church on Wednesday. Emailed it to church secretary so she can make copies for us.
Finished making the trim that goes around the edge of the quilt. Started sewing two sides of it. Had to take a break...tummy was making some noise. Now I'm thinking that besides snacking on some yummy strawberries, I need to start dinner. French bread pizza is sounding pretty good right now!
Not sure how much I'll get to work on it tonight as DH and I have a meeting we need to go to.
Fleur, So glad you're enjoying the day with the family as well as the weather. Bonus that you're getting stuff done too!
Bless, Great going on your list!
Karen, so glad you had a great time!! You're such a good neighbor.
Pam, sounds like those chicken bread bakes could be something you could sell to DH's coworkers to make a little money. Just a thought!
Jo, Your albums sound neat!
Keep up all the great work everyone!
Just checking in and catching up on all that everyone has been doing.
I am basically in baseball survival mode, LOL! It has been the bare minimum that needs to be done around the house. Last night while the boys were at practice DD and I went to my DM's to celebrate her birthday with her. Tonight DS's team had a scrimmage against the 11/12 All Star team and tomorrow night they will have a scrimmage against the 9/10 team. They won tonight so that should give them some confidence heading into the tournament this weekend.
I am just keeping the family fed and in clean clothes and trying to keep the house from looking like a total pit! Need to start planning food for the 4th of July and doing some planning for our vacation the first week of August. Going to a new place and I would like to research some fun things to do while there.
The energy is still going strong!
Mapster, the food sounds great!
Bless, how many miles a week do you put on your car!! LOL!
Wendy, great going, hope DH feels better.
Karen, glad you enjoyed your vacation.
Jo, going through photos is so tedious work for me, good for you!
Jodi, as long as we maintain, we are doing something, right?
Fleur, I love to be able to do paper work outside, makes it a little less like work, doesn't it? And you have that lovely porch too.
Diana, still plugging along as usual, good GON'er you are!
Purdy, remember babysteps!
Bubblegum, I hate driving in the city as well, especially with my old vehicle. Always afraid I'll burn out the clutch in traffic and/or overheat.
Yesterday it was so chilly here I closed all the windows and forced myself in the shower to wash my hair. Put on a long sleeve shirt and jacket! Walked the dog a long walk, did some phone calls for work, got all the garbage out.
Spent way too much time trying to get my printer to "accept" a new cartridge change, finally got it to work. Faxed some things to my brother re: the estate. Did some filing.
New neighbor asked if I could keep her company for a bit while a new contractor came to give her an estimate, he was a no-show. (what else is new here?) A phone call later and he re-scheduled for today and I offered to come back. It feels so strange to be in mom's house all the time again.
Have a quick job this morning and have to run to the bank first to cover a check, I forgot to go yesterday and hope it doesn't bounce. Yikes.
Productivity today includes, laundry, PUPA all over, making a grocery list for tomorrow morning and going for a walk early, glad I did because it's raining now. Took a shower after my walk Got my bills in order, get paid at midnight so will do that first thing tomorrow then get to the grocery store and the pharmacy.
Last evening before bed I did something I haven't done in a while... I started a new book! Still don't love the glasses but so happy I can read easily again. Aside from eating lunch in a bit I'm off to cuddle up on the couch and read again.
Day 6 of 7 at work and yesterday was a difficult one, new girl is to arrive today; kids were reacting all over the place, hope it goes well. That is probably why I need to fill up on calmness and silence before heading for work...
Already ran this morning and the girls biked with me. Kinda motivating to have them with me. Ate, devotions, showered, chatted with Linda, now checking on some things here before getting back to sewing. Really want to finish the quilt today. That's my goal!
Girls are doing better at getting their chores done first thing. I think they're figuring out that it's better to get them done and have the rest of the day to themselves that to wait. Also, DD#2 has been enjoying listening to Adventures in Odyssey and watching the hummingbirds out the window while doing the dishes.
DD#1 has already folded some laundry. Just needs to put things away.
Well, I have a few more things to do on here before I hit the sewing trail. Cya!
laugh Between 325 to 400 miles, when DD has classes, depending on if she has to work on the weekends. laugh
Not too productive yesterday - made some phone calls, paid bills, cooked dinner, etc.
Today's plans include going to the post office and the bank, watering the garden, and doing some house cleaning.
Dianaro - That is very true, probably because we have more money to spend smile
Waterlady - Yes I must remember that. I find it very frustrating that I just don't seem to get the organising thing yet. I usually pick things up very quickly.
Today I got the dailies done, then tackled some more paperwork. I then typed up the remainder of the documents I needed for the Filofax and the Household file.
Thanks Wendy and Waterlady !
I finished painting the neighbors fence today, laid a few more paving slabs and put the tarpaulin down for the area I want to have decking on.
I went to watch my friends little boy while she went to see the doctor, and when I returned DH had put 10 more paving stones down for me. I am very pleased especially as I know how much he hates gardening in any form.
This afternoon I was in school and ds was in nursery and after that we all sat in the garden talking to the neighbors. A productive and fulfilling day night all!
Did more album work today, only a few pages each day. I pulled two handfuls of weeds. (90 degrees outside). Cooked a big lunch so I won't have to cook supper tonight. Oh, and exercised 30 min instead of 25.
There is great satisfaction from rescuing old photos, letters, and all from acid-producing papers and glues, and preserving them in a safe album. Bringing together pieces of someone's life, their letters, postcards, photos, and forming a timeline gives insight to who they were. These little items separately, would likely be tossed. It also allows for tossing many note scraps and organizing piles of papers that clutter the basement.
mmm- French bread pizza!!!
WOW Bless that is a lot of miles each week!!!!!!
Got the shredding done and out in the trash for pickup,
got the trash gathered from around the house.
Did a babystep downstairs and had a lovely luncheon on a lovely patio surrounded by trees, and flowers.
Wendy:
Love when that clicks with the kids about work being done first!
Bubblegum:
Glad to hear you are taking some YOU time.
Purdy:
You have been doing well with your organizing.
Got some shredding done and put into the trash for putting out tonight. Did my babystep in downstairs and the pantry. Found some baking things to donate.
It is going to be 100+ tomorrow, staying in the day. No knittin or crocheting. Will get out in t het of the day, not good for breathing.
Took a few more baby steps with sewing. (Had a nice chat on the phone that took longer than expected. Then my BIL showed up for a quick visit. He's a cop and checks on us when he's in the area)
Got two sides of the quilt bound and just need two more. Will probably be out tomorrow, so no sewing. Will probably do that on Friday. Still would be nice to have it done by the weekend.
Please pray for DH. He's pretty sure he has to work all weekend and he's extremely exhausted. Wish the dr was back from his trip, cuz I'd be asking what we could do for DH. He's got the get some relief somehow. He's exhausted all the time.
Gotta get ready for church. Cya!
Dianaro - Thanks. It just doesn't look an awful lot differently.
Today I got the front room tided and cleaned up. I want to get some of the ironing done this afternoon.
The temperature is up to 26 degrees today, so not exactly housework weather.
Our resident Robin in the shed, is back again. I suspect they have a second brood, as they built up the nest again last week. The bird looks so very skinny, I will have to look up what I can put out for them. I know you can use meal worms, but I wonder if raw mince would be as good!
The robins here are foraging for worms, but the ground is soooo hard, they are having problems finding them.
Got another shelf in the pantry done, and then pulled out some donation food for donating. Way too much for one person to use!
Did a babystep in the basement yesterday also.
