A friend recently asked if a messy desk is the sign of a busy mind, what is a clean desk a sign of?

My answer: A desk with the drawers crammed full of things!

Do you have any tips for turning a messy desk top into a neat one without just shoving stuff away?

I guess I'm wrong but I always believed a messy desk is a sign of a messy mind. Tasks half done, plans half made, ideas not carried out, projects left for someone else to figure out etc.

I'd rather work with someone who has taken 3 minutes at the end of their day to tidy their desk so that if I needed to step into that job in an emergency I could follow through and complete your work. When a project is completed shouldn't the file/material be archived? Following the principles of Feng Shui takes away stress and gives space for the next idea/task/project/contract.

Is it better explained by not washing clothes this week because they are dumped on chairs, in the bathrm, the bed, floor, shelf in closet etc? Some clean items that were rejected for one reason or another are now co mingled with dirty clothes. If you haul it all to the machine you've created Mount Washmore! You don't like the undies left in your bureau so it's time to buy more.

I worked for a man who practiced the sweep it into a box method of cleaning his desk. About twice a year, he would come in on the weekend & go through the box. Most everything would be tossed. I never understood why he didn't just deal with the paper on a daily basis.
