We're halfway through the year almost and everyone is tossing away! Keep up the great work!

Wow! I didn't post a single thing on this thread for the month of May. It certainly wasn't because I didn't toss anything though. Life has a way of getting totally out of control every May due to end of the year school stuff for my job and for DD. I'll get back on track now (I hope).

Just read back through the previous posts and saw that question about why didn't I just let my ducks (the rubber ducks) go down stream. Well, to be quite honest with you, I never thought about it. It sure would have been easy enough to do though as there is a river right by our house.

Back to my most recent tossing - As was inevitably going to happen, my tossing has slowed down drastically. (Hey, a person can only toss so much stuff before there isn't anything left to toss. )

Two things bit the dust this past week, so to the dumpster they must go:
- George Foreman grill
- Vacuum cleaner

They both served us well for many years, but they were finally beyond repair. I will have to wait until fall to replace them though due to the EXTREME financial creativity that I must do in the summer each year. Luckily, I did save a little out of each check for the past few months so I have a bit saved to at least pay the rent.

More tossing....

Gave to DS for his "new" house -

- Laundry basket (I ended up with 4 of them so I figured I could spare one)
- spice rack (won't fit in my cabinet)
- 3 wire racks (also won't fit in my cabinets)

I cleaned, purged out the refrigerator. I tossed a total of 32 items, (well, I counted a few onions). Refrigerator is sparkling clean and everything out of date or close to is gone.

I missed the whole last month, but my tossing was just minimal, usual stuff, so I'm not counting last month.

Soooooo I decide I am going to wash the dark tan sheets in the guest room and grabbed the wrong bottle...they are speckled now from the bleach. So since I have 2 other sets for that bed, out goes that reminder of a brain dead day.

I also tossed a 2 inch stack of papers too and found some more manuals of things either long gone or gone to the ex....6 more items. Went through the "electronics" drawer in the office and found a couple cell phones to donate and 10 other items no longer needed-power cords, car cords, cables, etc. And 3 ink jet cartridges to the trash as well.

24 + 847 = 871

beaglelady...This afternoon I took an old sheet with a colorful print and made DD a new skirt maybe you could do that with your newly speckled sheets.

During work break, cleaned out a good chunk of paperwork out of my work bag. Paid online bill, wrote out ck and have to mail out, wrote emails, uploaded 2 photo albums and emailed out to friends. Out to dinner with extended family. Folded and put away clean towels. Made plans w. friend for weekend.

Tossing mostly recyclables over here - cans, bottles, papers, plastic containers, etc.

Did toss the old kitchen scrubbie - but replaced it with a new one, so it doesn't really count (not that I am keeping a count, any more).

It feels like I have tossed everything I can bear to part with and yet, there's still so much! I need to part with a few (lot) more...

mary-I have even more watches than that. I ones I tossed were some really cheap ones that were either free or cost less than the price of a new battery.

Today I tossed 16 books!!! We had decided to move a bookcase to a different room and so decided which books should make the cut. Nice way to get DH to look through his collection!

Waterlady...I hear you on the keeping of the empty spray bottles, only my problem is keeping spray bottles that don't spray. It's as if I think by some miracle if I put them on the shelf the next time I try them they will actually work. LOL

Therefore, I am happy to report that I did indeed toss:

One spray bottle that didn't spray (Hurray me!)

I also tossed a broken plate that I found in a box yesterday.

So....my new total is 1362 items tossed.

Mid-June progress:
14 canning jars and lids. I wasn't working on this, but I check the "wanted" category on Craigslist regularly and someone wanted them. I dug out what I could find and will contact the lady again if and when I find more.
130 Magazines and Catalogs to trash. Couldn't give these away.
1 T Shirt Bag of papers and old receipts from an old trunk. This freed up room to store some occasionally used electronics.
1 Over Toilet Shelf - Gave away by ad on Craigslist.

This makes 652 for the year and I have soooo much more to go but I am on a roll if life won't interrupt me again.

Californiagirl, I think I saved them for the sprayer tops, but like you, I hope they will spray next time around! LOL! What is it lately that the sprayers fail so quickly?

The only tossing I can report is the baby back ribs that SO slow roasted on the charcoal grill that got tossed into our bellies yesterday, with leftover today!

Lots of tossing here to report. This weekend my four year old son went through his books and toys and tossed like only a goner can Then I persuaded DH to sort through his clothes, and I have been tossing by selling items on ebay and donating.

130 items tossed so that is 952 items tossed this year!

When I went through a "thin" spell I felt wonderful and bought several outfits in smaller sizes. Well, those days are gone. Do I keep those clothes, that are still good and hardly worn, hoping to lose weight again, or do I toss them now, be more realistic, and give up?

Sigh... the only tossing I did today was to toss a few weeds out of my flower bed into the woods on my way to the mailbox.

Yesterday I tossed a few digital documents and emails into the digital trash bin. (Does that count?)

I actually got some real tossing and decluttering accomplished around here today! Ended up not being able to go to work due to a SWAT situation in the immediate neighborhood of the church I work at so I put the time to good use at home.

I did quite a bit of decluttering in my living room and tossed 6 stacking fabric boxes and a substantial amount of junk that was in them including old magazines (what was I thinking!). I didn't count but suffice it to say that the magazines that I dumped into recycle and the ones I put into a stack to take to my mother along with the other junk I tossed were a goodly number. I've given up counting as I lost count a long time ago!

My next plan is to go through my yarn to sort out what to take to my mom next month. She does so much more knitting than I do so I might as well let the yarn be put to good use. She makes sweaters for kids - I think it's a Guideposts charity project...might as well have the yarn go to a good cause!

I'm also donating 2 large bins full of fabric scraps to a sewing group to make lap quilts....I'll just be happy to see it used! I had good intentions with the scraps but we all know which road is paved with good intentions! LOL

That is the best excuse I have ever heard for not going into work lol I hope whatever they were there for got sorted out with the minimum of damage.

I have been tossing this week also books and ebay sales mostly. I will update my totals when all my auctions have ended.

I have decided if I do loose weight, I deserve new things, as styles change, and someone may need those things NOW! That is how clutter builds up IMHO!

Happiness: just shredded all of the paper documents from our refinance of our house. I had scanned about 8 that we might need and shredded over 100. :-)

BBG, I'm way behind also, but I know what is leaving here once I find a box.

Have 15 items for food pantry packed and ready to take to church on Sat. Will need help carrying them in...heavy, flour, sugar etc. I can pull up to the church, drop them off, and then park the car. I usually arrive early every week anyhow.

Lost track of my count, which is fine...this way every toss will be unique!
