Hartbe: That does sound like a nice device! I don't think I could justify getting one (not sure where I would get one actually) when this is (hopefully) a temporary situation. Should be walking in the "boot" cast w/out crutches in a couple months, I think.
On crutches w/no putting any weight on right foot for at least 2 weeks; then after doc appt. when he takes off the bandages & stitches (at that 2 week appt., I think; in one week, he will change the bandage--NO SHOWER, EITHER, FOR 2 WEEKS!) maybe I can wear the "boot" type of cast which will allow me to at least put a little bit of weight on right foot so I'm not so unsteady on the crutches.
Will have to figure out how to wash my hair while leaning over the sink on one leg; maybe put a chair under right knee to help steady me. I dare not try to get into our tub as it is really deep. I'd fall in head first. Maybe use a step ladder to try to get in while not getting right foot wet at all...
Right now just doing sponge baths until I get a little more steady & in less pain so can take less pain medication & have my wits fully about me (as much as possible for me as I am kind of "witless" in my usual state, unfortunately)...
But, wonderful sunny day so going to take my cup of tea outside & prop up my foot & let my husband wait on me when he gets home from tennis! Rest my swollen knees from crawling & take my mind off my dilemmas of washing my hair & bathing!
While stuck at home & basically unable to stand or walk I'm going to try to get some paperwork accomplished so maybe get more balance in my "To Do" list as it seems to always be lopsided on doing paperwork (balancing checkbook, filing stuff in notebooks, filing doc forms for insurance, etc.). AND the never-ending email purge!
Have something fun tomorrow. Daughter moved into a brand new condo a few weeks ago & is having a housewarming party tomorrow night (Saturday). Of course, we won't be going (out of state), but our son is flying in from San Francisco to attend & my husband & I decided we wanted to send a very large original art painting from our home here as a housewarming gift (surprise) as it is too large for our retirement home & we love the painting & want it to "stay in the family" as it is probably our most "important" & valuable & fantastic piece of art. It will fit perfectly in her new place.
So my husband had the art gallery owner here where we purchased it about 7 years ago come & wrap it securely & had it sent to a gallery in the town where our daughter lives & the gallery people there have agreed to deliver it to our daughter's place tomorrow morning between 9:00-10:00 & hang it professionally for her (don't want a slammed door or something to make it fall off the wall!!!!).
Our son is "in on it" so we are having him scope out possible spots to hang it just in case our daughter needs help in making a decision. I've just told our daughter that she needs to be home during that specified time for a surprise delivery. She said my husband & I need to be home so we can be be on Skype w/her to witness it! I just get excited about giving surprise gifts!
I also sent Easter "boxes" (rather than baskets) to the "kids" (daughter is 34 & son is 31 or thereabouts; I can't believe I have children that old so I'd have to get out my calculator to make sure!! I actually even put my age down incorrectly on one of the doc forms I filled out for this last surgery!! Yikes!); plus son-in-law (34) containing some gourmet chocolates, gift cards for iTunes, Barnes & Nobles & Starbucks...
Happy Easter weekend for the Christian GONers!--Suzy

Relationship with Partner-We have been spending a lot of time together since I have been on PTO since the 3rd.
Relationship with Friends- Saw neighbors Barbie and Dan in the back yard today. Got to chat with both for a few minutes. Talked to G this week. M&J are with her family for Easter so we are having it at home this year.
Career – I worked 15 hours this week and took the rest as PTO. Too much going on to mention. My part time job is going well. I went to a Dementia Specialist training class Weds. I paid for it myself and took PTO from work. My boss at the home care provider sent my check back stating they would pay for the class. That was unexpected.
Community or Charitable Service –BB is still declining. We are enjoying the days when she can communicate and recognize us. I am disconnecting her phone this month and will be discussing a possible move to a nursing home for her. I have an annual care conference for client JB on Mon. I plan to visit client LM since he is in the same nursing home. I will call client MH Sunday to wish her Happy Easter. Health - Doing okay. I am getting good sleep and more exercise.
Home Management or Personal Environment- Keeping up with laundry and cleaning. I painted the guest room and guest bath this week. DH and I painted the master bath and the ceiling in the master bedroom today. I bought a new shower curtain and will donate the old one.
Financial Management- Our windows should be installed next week. We are replacing the windows in the guest room, guest bath and master bath. We have enough saved to pay for it and are starting to save for 3 more window replacements next year.
Time Management- Doing well. Need to write my list for Sun, Mon and Wed. Lots of things to do.
Pets- Murf goes to doggy daycare one half day a week. He got a puppy cut at the groomer’s on Weds. Fri night he got sick and was shaking for an hour. We are watching him closely.

Suzy What a great idea for your DDs housewarming. Hoping you are feeling better this week.
~~~~~~~~~~~ Family/Friends: Spent a few evenings out last week with DS2, wife was out of town. Went to DBs home for Easter with DS1 and his family Spoke with both my girls on Easter, so family spoke was full!
Was home a few days and was able to get some projets completed this week also. Felt good to wander thru the house all day! LOL
Finances are doing okay.
Pets are fine. Due to have their yearly shots this month and next.
House still decorated for Easter. Will remove items next week.
Not too much new to report.
Since my daughter's housewarming party (big success due to the painting we gave her, of course!), she has given another "party"--dessert & drinks for women lawyers' group in her area who meet once a month for dinner at different restaurants & the restaurant happened to be across the street from her new condo so she invited them all over for dessert/coffee/after dinner drinks.
Then next week a bunch of law professors are coming into town for meetings & she is holding a reception at her condo. Good for her jumping in w/both feet into entertaining now that she has a nice place! Before she had been renting an apartment that was more appropriate for a law student, not a law prof!
She & her husband do have a nice condo in Seattle (where her husband practices) so she spends the summers (& they alternate weekends visiting each other--one hour flight) in Seattle w/her husband as well as travels to visit us & friends. Modern marriage of 2-career couple who don't have children!
I get my stitches out tomorrow. I hope that helps decrease my pain & increase my mobility. We leave on 4/20 for a trip to AZ (have to use a wheel chair in airport) & return on 4/29.
Haven't cooked a meal since surgery as I can't stand w/out pain & fold laundry while sitting on the bed! Getting better on crutches, but am exhausted by 5:00-6:00 p.m. Have only left the house for surgery & doc appts. in the last 2 weeks, except 2 nights ago I managed to go out to dinner, but didn't go to restaurant we originally planned to to go as that one was more of a "dining", dress-up affair & I didn't feel up to it so we went to a more cafe type of place where we would have a quicker meal.
So, off to bed, as have to go to doc in the morning which means a shower & that is an ordeal in itself! Have to cover up the cast so as to not get it wet & not put weight on right foot so kind of lean on wall of shower while shampooing hair! Shaving the other leg hasn't happened; long pants will be the wardrobe!--Suzy
Suzy You are a trooper! I see that the task of showering is a huge job! Sounds like DD takes after her mom with the entertaining!
