This is a good one for me this week. Need to straighten out some cabinets I have been putting items into. Not bad, but could use a tweeking. As I am still confined to the sofa I can take one or two things out at a time and sort thru it that way.

Starting this on Friday for people who want to work on the branches over the weekend. Think of your home as a tree and each room is a branch of that tree.

First, break the house up into branches (manageable areas), which can be DEEP cleaned in a week's time.

For each branch, compile a list of all the tasks you'll need to do to get that room to SPARKLE! This includes cleaning, dusting and vacuuming the areas behind and under furniture, washing windows and curtains, etc.

Also, put together a Weekly Cleaning List to keep things looking good. Each week, finish your Weekly Cleaning THEN focus on doing some deep cleaning in this week's branch.

Cycle through the branches, one per week, to maintain a high level of cleanliness throughout the house.

Here's the schedule of Branches we'll be following:

Week 1: Entry/Living Room
Week 2: Dining Room/Laundry Room
Week 3: Bathrooms/Front Porch
Week 4: Kitchen/Back Porch
Week 5: Children’s Room/Guest Room + Closets for those rooms
Week 6: Family Room/Room of choice
Week 7: Master Bedroom/Master Closet
Week 8: All House Cleaning

Some sample "Choice" Rooms:
Office, Pantry, Craft Room, Garage, Attic, etc.

Make your master and individual branch lists work for YOU. The lists we share here are just our own examples; yours should be designed to suit your own home and situation.

If the branch you're working on needs decluttering, focus on that first. It's much easier to clean a room that doesn't have piles and boxes everywhere. Even if the whole house needs decluttering, this is a good way to focus on a room at a time on a regular schedule.

This isn't a competition. Just go at your own pace, as that will be exactly right for you. We are all here to support and encourage one another.

Start with a new branch each week. If you don't finish all the tasks on your branch list for the week, that's OK--you're already ahead of where you were before, and the unfinished tasks will still be there for you when you cycle back to this branch. If you finish early one week, you can go back to work on previous branches

Making this easy on myself as I haven't complete my tasks.
REPEAT...actual list goes like this...

room of choice is the second bedroom and catch all space:

Weed out 10 more files from first drawer
Weed out 10 files from second drawer
weed out stuff from third drawer
declutter top of chest of drawers
declutter table (this is my drop everthing and forget about it spot!)

If I get tired of decluttering I can always wash the window, it's on the side of the road and it get's dirty quickly.

Family room:
- Washed sofa covers
- Swept
- Started to dust

Still to do:

- Clear horizontal surfaces & dust
- Redo book cases
- Declutter/redo entertainment center
- Clean sliding glass door
- Wash window?

Almost finished with the previous branch - washed DD's bedding and vacuumed her room for her. She needs to dust her shelves.

Then, I cleaned most of the rest of the house! Dusted, swept and vacuumed the living room, dining room, hallway; vacuumed my bedroom, DD's bathroom floor and kitchen floor. Need to sweep/vacuum my bathroom floor and vacuum the 3rd room.

Still doing laundry - all the bed linen including quilts.

Yay, I've got my own cheering squad! Thanks, Diana. laugh

Productive a.m., so far. Woke up at 7:30, did 2 loads laundry (2nd load in the dryer), swept my bathroom again and polished the mirror, cleaned DD's bathroom, dusted my bedroom, cut fresh roses for the altar and mantle, emptied waste baskets, and cleared the surface of the family room table.

Then, I got hungry, so cooked milk rice for b'fast - just sitting down to eat (and post)

Plan to work my way around the family room, today.

Bless like you, today is geared at productivity.

2nd load for guest room bedding from DB's visit is in washer and first in dryer. Will also put away the extra comforter on there. with warm weather, it won't be needed. Also got one load done last nite. Have about 4 more loads to do though... frown

Room of choice is last weeks guest room. to do in there....
bedding (in progress)...dust, sweep and mop.....pack up all clothing donations now that I finally remembered to bring home boxes, get SO to put away his laundry that I am doing today(guest room in where his dresser and closet is)

The other room of choice is to continue on rotm, the office. With all the studying, testing and getting new real estate llicense and learning quirks of new systems I am using, it has gone by the wayside something awful and it shows. Planning on a good few hours in there today too.

Bless,
My grandmother use to make rice with milk and sugar when I was little in honor of St. Lucy's feastday! I loved it! Haven't thought about that in years. Nice memory for me. Maybe I misunderstood you, it may be a different product.

BL:
You are one busy lady, you and Bless are whirlwinds!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Going to straighten out and clean the main cabinet today.
Trying to tie up odds and ends while I am home. So Filing and
the cabinet will be a good start.
Didn't know I would get so involved with cleaning that cabinet!
Found UFPs and yarns, patterns, etc. So they are all organized and ALIKES are together. Know what is there. Put CDs away also.
Needlefelting items and wool all together too.
The other cabinets are fine (other than the photo one).
The pillow covers, and the blanket I keep on DH's chair, plus the runner from the coffee table and the cloth from the round table are all washed and drying on the clothes-line.
I used some teak oil on the ancient teak coffee table, and I cleaned the glass on the pictures.
Diana, the milk rice is rice cooked with milk. We don't sweeten it when cooking it, but it can be eaten with something sweet like sugar (DD's favorite way of eating it) or palm sugar (very similar to brown sugar).
Well, I wasn't quite able to finish this branch, this time around, so, I'll continue to work on it, next week, too.
I will be continuing in this branch with my spring/summer decorating. Bringing up my birdcages, and changing out the seasonal cross stitch pieces.
