Haaaa so envious of your garden Karen and of your LAST college assignment!!! I have a planter box and on the second assignment... None the less I'm being productive, have worked today, gave back a borrowed book to DGF, came home to read and work on said assignment, cooked supper, ETEed, watched a few taped shows (love to zoom through the commercials...) and now going to get a gelato with a friend! We have a 'Broadway cheesecake' store about halfway between our homes! Still have to drive 15minutes though but it's so good! Wanted to clean up the place some more but we only live once on this earth, making the best of it today. It's pretty hot here too

Bubblegum - I start all over again in September, as I have decided to do the next level. So I will make the most of the break :)The planter box sounds a lot less work than a garden I envy you that I am now busy trying to find a paid position in a school. Money has been very tight these past few years living on one income, but I wouldn't change the time I have had with DS. That being said I am so ready to go back to a two income house! Lazy day here so nothing to report enjoy your Sunday all!

What a day yesterday was!
I woke up realizing this is the first Saturday of my life that was mine alone! No more responsibilities other than my own! Free to do whatever I want. A nice feeling!!!
The girl who bought mom's was at the house waiting for a furniture delivery. I was so afraid of that "moment" when they finally move in,(how was I going to react?) but I managed to just say a prayer for Mom and ask her to bless them in their new home.
The girl's name is Mary, (like mine) she saw me outside loading the truck and came running over to say hello. She said her vacuum was the first thing in the house, she is afraid of spiders. LOL.
I stopped at a garage sale on the way out of town, and by chance, the woman running the sale offered me her son to help deliver my equipment for a small fee, which I took him up on immediately. Got the job delivered in a few minutes, PTL! Didn't have to lift a thing! And, his brother is available to help in the future! PTL!
It was really hot and humid here. Next door, the guy came to cut the grass and I asked him to do my front yard and, for another small fee, got that done and gives me another week to get my mower going. Wish I could afford him on a regular basis.
Laura came home from work, I went to the fence to say hello and at my feet was the biggest black snake I have ever seen. I let out a scream and the darn thing went down the fence into the garage! Mary heard me and said she isn't afraid of snakes, (spiders no, snakes, ok, LOL) but by the time she came over he was hiding in the garage. I went back to "her" house and went over the important things like the shutoffs, breaker box, etc.
Came back and my dear neighbor Cathy next door came over to see if I was ok now that the people are moving in. How sweet was that!! Mary and her husband had left. Laura was here and told her the snake story.
Then Cathy saw the lilies moving and here comes the snake again, he climbed up the dogs kennel and then the outside of the garage, and was over 8 ft long. I called the cops, they wouldn't help despite my pleading and begging (LOL) and was surprised to learn my 2 male neighbors are scared of snakes too. LOL. Finally Cathy's son took matters over and sorry (?) to say, the snake is gone.
We then all had a glass of wine to calm down.
I've been meaning to spray the other yard because the brush is getting high there, now it's on the "priority" list. I definitely need to finish clearing out the garage and now I am going to use EXTREME caution when I go in there. Like the cop told me on the phone, "you live in the country", and I told him, "But, I live in the village part, LOL"
Hope to get a lot done this morning, and later Laura and I will BBQ something for dinner. I'm planning on doing some grilled bananas for dessert with honey and rum, or maybe just chocolate chips on top, YUM.
Have a great holiday weekend, all!

Mary, Animal Control in your community can likely help or at least offer information on coping with snakes. This is mating season for snakes so you might watch for eggs in the garage. They like to feed on small rodents like chipmunks, squirrels, mice and bird eggs so you might take down any bird feeders for the short term. I recall mothballs are a repellant but that might be dangerous to Finn. Relatives in Australia insist having a couple of cats keep snakes away. Can you borrow a cat short term? They said Snake Repellant products don't work on their snakes.
I look forward to your Mod views...

Waterlady, hope you won't get any more unwelcome visitors! Glad your neighbor's son could help.
My productivity during the work week, this past week, had been minimal.
But yesterday, I did the grocery shopping, and some laundry (sofa covers).
Today, I am continuing with laundry - bed linen. Plan to do some dusting and sweeping/vacuuming, too.

Waterlady, now you can add, big old snake to your list of critter visitors!! So nice to see how the neighborhood seems nice (minus down the road...) I came home from work more than tired. I slept from 4:00 until 5:30. Made up for not having a garden by making one at work, let's see if we can eat any vegetables before they get uprooted or stomped on... We also cleaned up the shed with its many boxes and extra stuff, wish I could count it on my tossing list!!! Still it was nice to see some of them participate and enjoy it. I made supper for me and DS then cleaned up while he was playing his game with the 'computer big screen' aka the 42' flat screen tv. It gave me an excuse to not sit down and do some work. Next day off is probably Thursday or Friday, have to keep up with house cleaning. Laundry, clean sheets on the bed, dishes done plus I've sanitized the bathroom top to bottom. I really have to make an eye doctor appointment, when I'm tired I can hardly read without getting a headache. So very minimal work on assignment done today. Will be heading to bed early, need to do more tomorrow evening after work shift, it's due Saturday. I had a conversation with a co-worker about our battle to lose weight and I'm back at my heaviest. All of my summer clothes are strangling me at the waist and I'm not about to go and buy bigger stuff. Yet I'm always hungry?? She said I had some unresolved stuff to deal with. Well I'm doing it every 3 weeks when meeting with the psychologist! I think I mainly have too much on my proverbial plate and fight my nervousness with stuffing my face. So it being the last few days of the month I made a plan to attack my May goals and make all of my important phone calls, tomorrow upon returning home. I'm hoping it will help alleviate some tension and give me rest from these never ending cravings for a while!!!

I cleaned practically the entire house today! Living room: dusted, swept, and vacuumed (the sweeping wasn't enough; fine, gritty dust); vacuumed the sofas, too, under the cushions, etc. Dining room: dusted, swept and vacuumed Hallway: dusted, swept, vacuumed. Kitchen: floor swept and vacuumed; counters and stove top wiped Family room: swept; started dusting but didn't finish DD's bedroom: vacuumed, bed linen washed and bed remade my bedroom: vacuumed, bed linen washed and bed remade 3rd bedroom: vacuumed my bathroom: sink & toilet scrubbed; floor swept and mopped; bathmats in the wash as I type DD's bathroom: floor and bathmats vacuumed
Plus, I cooked dinner and did the dishes. Now, I am tired.
Tomorrow, I will mop the kitchen, finish DD's bathroom and dust my bedroom and the family room. Oh, and I must put water to the garden, too.

Cyd, Animal Control here is an hour away, and it's not free. Thanks for the info on the mating season, now, tell me what do snake eggs look like? ROFL!!
Everyone is busy, busy!!
All the neighbors were out yesterday doing yard work, we all seem to have a snake story, so I am really on the lookout now for more. Eeeeks!
I got the rest of the front yard done yesterday. I weed whacked the outside of the front fence, looks so nice this morning! My purple irises are blooming away, they are so pretty! Then I did the back yard also. I didn't do the brush killer as the forecast was for storms that never came. Darn!
Visited the new people, they had more questions on the house. Me and Finn did our "show dog" walk again. He's getting a hot spot, the vet gave me a trick to catch it early, so he got another treatment. He is sooooo good when I tell him "mommy do".
I just took out the summer clothes and got part of them put away. Still can't find my capri pants which I prefer. (I have horribly skinny legs)
Made a new chicken recipe for dinner, our bbq plans changed to this afternoon, hope the weather holds out. Cleaned the stovetop real good and the counters on that side of the kitchen.
This morning have to get supplies for my big install tomorrow. Would also like to get some flowers and start planting, I'm so late this year!
