Bless, there is no way I would be able to fit in 2 hours of driving as well! But I do have days when I get out of the house, too.

Darlene, what a relief for you to be able to fix the sewing machine yourself, I'm sure you would have felt lost if it had had to go for repair.

We had a great meal out with a group of friends yesterday.

Today:
Two loads of laundry washed and hung on line - done
Sweep front porch - done
Put screens* in some upstairs windows - done
Clean patio window - done
Clean kitchen window over sink
Go for mail
Fetch in laundry and fold
Go with DH to local lecture and possibly pick up a couple of things on the way.

* A number of years ago I realised that I needed to label the screens because the windows are several different sizes, so I took an indelible marker and wrote on the hidden part of the top frame "master bedroom", "back bedroom" and so on. Now it is easy to take them straight to the correct room.

Bless, I was forgetting you did 2 hours each way. DH thinks it is a big deal to drive to the city, which takes about that long. I don't think either of us would like to do it every day, but it's all in the mind, isn't it? What we think is difficult becomes a big deal.

We picked up burger and fries on our way back from the early lecture yesterday and ate while watching a DVD! I think we will save the other one for tomorrow as watching a movie means I don't get round to other things in the evening, like sewing.

JDI:
Dailies
Another load of laundry plus some hand laundry
Grocery shopping
Fold yesterday's laundry
Ironing
Move rose bush with DH
Guys coming to fix 2 windows no longer sealed
Put back drapes and screens
Ironing and/or e-mails

Bushlady (and others), when I do need to take my sewing machine in for a tune up, I like to make an appointment so that I can drop it off in the morning and pick up the same afternoon. The places respect that knowing that I'm coming from a distance.

Update from yesterday -
- puppy training (ongoing) including obedience class this evening
- sewing (baby steps)
- PUPA (ongoing baby steps)
- sweep floor (puppy feet and my feet seem to bring in a lot of dirt!)

In addition, I cut the lawn yesterday. That's a big job because I have a larger than usual yard!

For today -
- puppy training (ongoing)
- sewing (baby steps)
- PUPA (ongoing baby steps)
- take paper to the recycling collection place
- other tasks?

Bushlady: You are right - it is all in the mind. smile I don't mind the driving - the hour each way with DD in the car with me is part of our "together" time (although, increasingly, she's so tired, she sleeps during that time! laugh ) The hour each way when I am in the car by myself, is part of my "ME" time - often, it is the only time in the day when I am alone by myself (and I am someone who likes being by myself). I say my devotions, listen to my radio station (when DD is in the car with me, we listen to the stations she likes), day-dream, menu plan, plan my day, talk to myself, sing out loud, and generally enjoy myself. laugh

JDIs for today:

- A.M. dailies (devotions, feed cats, warm up/pack lunches, etc.) - DONE
- Note to gardener - DONE
- Put gas to car - DONE
- Drop DD off on campus - DONE
- Myself to the office - DONE
- Photocopy document
- Bank
- Farmers' market
- Home/check mail
- Laundry
- Start dinner
- P/U DD
- Home and dinner/dishes/pack lunches
- Paperwork/Pay bills/file
- P.M. routine (feed cats, p.m. devotions, bless the house)

The weather is dull most of the time so I finally caught up with the kitchen windows over the sink. Now I just need to get to the outsides!

Meanwhile, DH has just cut down another tree, which will make a huge difference to our winter sunshine. He needs the wood for posts for a woodshed expansion anyway. I never dreamed 42 years ago that I was marrying a closet lumberjack! : ) He has been doing this for years, mostly in our woodlot for forest management and for firewood.

That is too funny, a closet lumberjack! Thanks for the laugh, and lucky you, we pay a fortune to have trees cut down here!

Time to close out May! Super job on JDIs GONers!
