Thanks for your encouragement! In the basement, after emptying a rolling file cabinet drawer, I then, today, emptied out a bookshelf shelf that was stuffed with papers. We tossed and sorted and then I filed each paper in a hanging folder in the cabinet. That enabled stuff that was sitting out on a counter to go into the bookshelf!
Next up: another 4-drawer file cabinet down there needs clearing and ordering as there are stacks of papers everywhere. One drawer at a time!

I think sometimes I put things off, imagining that some task will take too long. Then it's a nice surprise when it doesn't!

Jo Great going on the paper clearing. I need to do that also, an I find it the opposite, thinking things won't take long and they do! LOL

Jo, you are doing really well! Breaking things down to baby steps (one shelf or one drawer at a time) helps.
For me, I find some tasks take longer than I anticipate and others take less time. It depends, I think, on just how thorough a job I want to do.

An update....that huge batch of chicken pot pie filling from last week yielded more than i care to count. I ended up with 2 loaf pans, a 13 by 9 pan and 3 pie tins. I fed ten from the big one with leftovers for lunch the next day. I have one in ther freezer for us, sent home pie tins with SO's parent and sister and her finace, and sent other loaf pan to SO's best friend. SO got 2 lunches, and I got one. Crazy good and everyone raved about it.
It has been a really hectic week. Got the clearance to back to the morning shift and started it this week. Going from going to bed late to now getting up at 3am has made it a rough week. The high side to it is that SO and I once again get to spend time together and that is great. The down side is sore hand that I am watching and trying to get used to the extreme physical of the morning shift.
I had to wait a week and a half for an available time to take the real estate test.....and I passed it. My friend teased me that I got done with it faster than she did. You are allowed 3.5 hrs to take the test and I finished in one hour and 8 minutes, 22 minutes faster than she did. I spent the past few days running around filling out papers for the new job, paying fees for the various things needing to be paid as well as working and working on things at home.
Looks like my new schedule is going to be Sunday and mondays off so that will also be good for the new job as well. My friend has already given me my first lead and I am hoping to write my first offer on when we go out on Monday. This has tremendous potential and I have set a goal for the first job to become part time(for benefits) by the beginning of the year.
ROTM as a result has not been happening. Some other things are moving along though. with my birthday coming up, SO asked what I wanted as a gift and i told him time and projects. As a result, the following have been done......The main bathroom cabinet doors now have the handles installed and in the process he repainted them as he thought they needed it. After installing the new microwave a few months ago, a new base platform of sorts needed to be made so it would be level in the cabinet...he did that today. A small shelf support where the stove used to be that had been covered up came loose and fell out. He is fixing and reinstaling that today as well.
With the rest of the day I will be cleaning out the interior of my car, going to the carwash, and clearing away some of the mess in the office and installing new forms etc that my friend gave me to have on hand for the new biz. With it being 85 today, outdoors activities with DB won't be happening as he cannot handle the heat(heart patient)...instead it will be indoor time watching some new movies, The Grey and Joyful Noise.
Bless, I agree. You can never really pinpoint how long something is going to take. I am amazed at how much work I have done here the past few weeks and just how little progress shows.
At least bills are paid, irs is done, house is in okay shape, real estate class and test are done, freezer/pantry is restocked, and am working on getting up to speed with the new second job. the house will be there when we are ready for it....right Dianaro??

Thank you sooo much. Just starting a new chapter and am hoping it goes as well as it feels. Sitting here in the office and rolling my eyes.
Did manage to do dinner yesterday and breakfast. There are lots of leftover veggies for the next several days so just need to deal with the entree part...and tonite is reheating Sunday dinner.
Got car washed and this morning just finished vacuuming, and wiping down EVERY SINGLE SURFACE inside it, including windows, so it is looking good. You don't think about how dirty it gets, but it took 4 wipes on the steering wheel alone and I know I could have gotten more, just not enough time.
Meeting my client from 10 to 3 today and hoping to get something happening for her. Will do some laundry tonite then early to bed to tackle the day job. Forgot how hard I was working with all the lifting of cases and rearranging and believe me, I feel it by the end of the day....but for now it is a job. I will do as they want and be the drone. Tired of trying to make suggestions to help only to be told to "just do your job and don't worry about it", only to see them use my suggestion two or three days later. I will now become a clock puncher and get out at the end of the shift.
Did watch those movies over the weekend and both were really good, totally different, but both enjoyable.

BL Hate when people do that when you have suggestions, but look at it this way, if they use it, it was a good one. What goes around comes around I say, and pretty soon you won't have to put up with any of it.

It's hard to work in the basement as it's colder and darker. It will be nice this summer to work there, but things need to be started now. It's also "away" from the family and I prefer to be upstairs. What do other people do to make working at a task location like that more pleasan? Music? I'm tempted to haul it all upstairs to work and then haul it all back down to put away.

Jo I've done it both ways. Paper to sort thru I take upstairs, some items cannot be brought up, so then I sort down stairs in the basement. Agree with you totally about trying to make it more pleasant....could you set a timer and just do a babystep or two, working downstairs? This from a 2 yr. veteran of th ROTM in the basement. Have only one section left to do, but it is the most involved, books and craft items!
I know whatever you decide will work out for you.
