Hi Had to leave early this morning for a photo organizing class at the library,and lunch with GFs afterwards. Busy day.
Marked off a couple of goals.
Cannot work the closet, the door opens awarkwardly to use. Still a good excuse to go thru both seasons.

i got the car inspected (2 trips), bought cigs about 3x, went to 2 reg dr's appt, made a trip to the reg grocery store and another to bj's and wrote checks for all the stuff crammed into the mailbox that i knew were bills. i also ran the dw about 2-3x and scooped the litterbox in time and metro always had food and water.

Mary You did great in keeping up.. Hoping you are feeling better now. I was worried when you didn't post.
I was able to get a few things crossed off. Have to have the car checked for the state today. Few other errands to do, as long as I am out.
Have a great day all.

Mary, sounds like you are keeping up with the important stuff. 75 e-mails a day seems like an awful lot of e-mails to me. I don't get half that number in a week, and that includes work-related e-mails! I'd feel overwhelmed if I had to read through that many e-mails in a day!

Just finished dinner. Picked up some herbs and a plant for the back porch. Didn't have the hanging begonia as she wants to wait until Moher's day to bring it over, will call me when she does. Picked up two tomato plants, dill, basil and chives for a starter. I plant in flower pots so that is my garden so far.

Mary....Listening to your body and just doing what it tells you to do is sometimes the best thing. When I feel blah or tired, I lie on the couch like a big ole potato and veg, nap, watch DVDs, read, and nothing else gets done. But...that's OK. I'm taking care of ME because nobody else is going to do that. If it turned into a month or something like that, then I would worry, but a day or two here and there is just fine. I'm on the opposite end as you as I suffer from panic disorder, but I know that I must take my downtime or the panic disorder gets out of control.
I've been feeling a bit "off" today. Partly because I was up until midnight finishing a book that was due back at the library today and then the cat woke me up at the crack of dawn because he wanted outside. Then, of course, I couldn't go back to sleep. I'm an 8-10 hour a night kind of gal. Not because I'm lazy, but because my body needs a lot of sleep. And, on top of that, my DM called to tell me that she had read R's dad's obituary in the newspaper. Not surprisingly, nobody from his family called to tell me. I didn't expect they would. Apparently, he died this past Sunday. I'm not feeling any sadness over his passing, just sadness about the whole sick situation with R's family and me. I'll get over it quickly though as there is nothing I can do to make them any different than how they are. It is actually a little bit of a relief because now I won't have to worry about running into him at the store any more. (I think it's my lack of compassion over it that has me kind of disturbed.)
I'm slowly making my way through my goals list for this month. I finished sewing a blouse for DD on Tuesday evening. She wore it yesterday. I'll try to upload the pictures later. Next up, I will be working on a nightgown for myself and more work on the T-shirt quilt.

I finished DHs labcoat for the workshop. He wanted it out of denim and it turned out great. I made a mistake but in the end it looks ok. I think I had that for an April goal and now it is done.
I am taking on another client at my part time job. It is temporary. Every other Sat from 7-2p. It will be the same Sat I work 5-8p for my other client. This will help us meet our goal of saving for the next 3 windows. I will still have every other weekend off which is what I need to maintain our own home.

Frugal You need an assistant to keep your schedules straight! Goodness that is a lot of work. Glad your labcoat turned out well for DH!
Carol: I did just as you described when I returned home from my vacation. Needed a vacation from my vacation. I too sleep 7-8 hours a night, if not I squeeze in a nap sometimes. Need all the beauty sleep I can get!!!!!! LOL
I can understand your feeling upset about your lack of compassion regarding Rs dad's passing, but when people are abusive to you, what else could one feel but relief. ((((HUGS))))

I've crossed a few things off my goals list. These items are all completed: - Finished designing the Johnny Appleseed lesson that will be taught to the 5th graders this week. - Balanced the checkbook and paid bills - Re-evaluated budget with new monthly expenses -Prepared chicken and ground beef for freezer - Made taco seasoning - Finished reading Beverly Lewis book - Made candy bouquet for my mom for Mother's Day - Redo lampshade - Completed all the paperwork to register DD for college courses in the Fall (She'll be a high school senior and taking two courses at the college.) Looking at the list it looks like a lot so how come I don't feel like I've accomplished very much? Oh, and I made DD a blouse and myself a nightgown. Just getting ready to cut out some fabric to start sewing myself a blouse. This is DD's blouse: The candy bouquet I made for DM: My completed lamp:

Carol You are amazingly talented! Love all your accomplishments on your projects! Lovely and cute.
You are use to rushing the past few months with packing and moving, so maybe that is why all that you did didn't seem like a lot, but I totally disagree with you, you are amazing.

Way to go everyone!
I don't think I am making much progress on my Goals list. Feeling kinda aggravated with the entire situation. I will re-evaluate/re-look at my list.

I love to see all the pictures. Carol, that is a neat idea for the lamp, and I can see it matches the ties on your drapes.
Karen, seeing the photos of your garden reminds me of all the UK gardening shows I used to watch! Good luck with your project.
Haven't established a goals list this month, but gardening is in there somewhere, even if it just means keeping stuff watered. I think my main goal is just to try to keep on top of things at the moment and continue to declutter, little by little, also try not to get eaten by too many black flies (conflicts with the gardening, unfortunately!)

Hey Bubblegum, you are picking on yourself! You started school, work full time (at odd hours and days) and you are upset you didn't do it all? My dear, we need to talk. You do wonders!
Mary: Glad to see you are holding down the fort,and reading all your emails, etc.
Karen: I was glad to learn DH helps you. The pavers look very heavy! It will be lovely when you finish!
Carol, As usual beautiful and talented and wonderful work!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Slowly marking off events, and today I am HOME and taking some DIANA time. Beena hectic few days, and need some down time.
i washed my sheets today as soon as i got up, then took my poncho to the dry cleaners. last night i thought i halucinated the stain on my summer jacket, but i saw it again when i was sitting in the car on the way up. it's on the inside. after i got home, i dusted the gbr and read a sect in my book, then fell asleep while listening to dool. i remade the bed, ran emptied the dw and did the dailies after i got up. i wanted to take a shower earlier and wash my hair, but didn't b/c of a storm. now i can't b/c of the runs. i don't know if i'll be able later as it has lasted quite a while. mary
Carol: The blouse, candy bouquet and lamp all look perfectly lovely!
Karen: That's a lot of hard work, digging up all that sod and soil! So what are you planning for the side garden after it is all dug up?
I've been working on the tidying the house goal: cleaned most of the house this weekend and will continue to tidy/clean/organize.
Karen: Lots of work! Good luck!
Mary: Glad you found the stain. Busy lady as usual.
Bless: Isn't it easier to keep it up when you do a big cleaning, and then follow the branches too?
Karen, sounds like a great plan! You will have a lovely backyard once all that is done.  Diana: Yes! Except, I tend to fall off the maintenance wagon from time to time!  And believe me, it doesn't take long for things to get messy at my house!
Mary, too bad you have to make so many shopping trips in one week. Could you combine your trips if you were to buy fewer packs of soda?
I am planning to work on my goal to update my wardrobe, this weekend! I need a white blouse, since I don't have one. Something relatively plain and simple, with short sleeves, that I can wear to the office or temple. The challenge will be to find something I like, which is suitable for the purpose, in my size and at a price I consider acceptable. :p I don't like clothes shopping - I have the hardest time finding something which fits me at a price I like!
I took one baby step in the search for a white blouse: went on-line and checked 3 stores. They didn't have much in terms of what I am looking for and it is hard for me to look at a picture and decide if I will like that style on me - everything looks lovely on the models, but I don't look anything like the models! I am going to have to go in person and look and try on.
Mary, I had to chuckle when you mentioned Mike's car. It struck a chord, because in my young days I had to break off an engagement. I didn't miss the guy but I still miss that ring that I gave back! (it wasn't hugely valuable but it was rather nice.)
I hope you find your white blouse, Bless. It can be hard work looking. The only time I enjoy clothes shopping is when I am not trying, just out somewhere and happen on a good sale and get lucky with something that I really can use.
I never made a goals list, but I think before the month is out, I would like to help DH get the screening mended in the gazebo panels so we can get the roof on and cheat the black flies and mosquitoes when we want to relax outdoors.
Also I want to complete the blanket and get it washed, so I can take it to the next Jabez Blanket meeting in June.
Plan to see local amateur show this month, and arrange a breakfast date with friends.
Thanks for all the compliments on my projects! Sad to say I haven't been able to do any creating this week. BOOHOO! But, it's just too busy with things at work and DD's schedule right now. After I finish my final quarter of compiling work samples, it should quiet down just a tad. Enough to do a little project or two anyway. They make me happy! I haven't done much in regards to crossing things off my goals list this week due to the busy-ness, but I did want to pop in here to share the good news that I just got in the mail. DD has health insurance starting next Thursday! With the explanation that my income is only 10 months instead of the 12 months that the chart is based on, she qualified for Healthy Families. She will have health/dental/vision covered for $24/mo. YIPPEE!!! Of course, it only lasts until she turns 18, which will be in 14 short months, but at least until then, she's all set.
the hamburger soup was great! i ate 2 bowls. i finished reading my 75 juno email, then made 4 entries on this month's budget and totaled up last month. i made a grocery list for bj's and another for food lion, then went thru all of my b/day cards and made a list of who i need to buy for, for next yr and put 2 in the mail. i went to sleep really late. thu morning i woke at 10am. i listened to an audio on here, then bought dt caf fr coke at bj's. came home, unloaded and watched dool. next i went back to bj's to grocery shop and got three big boxes full of food. came home and got everything put away, then went to food lion. there i got three big bags of food. came home and put everything away. next went to the base. i got 4 cartons of cigs. came home and put them away. finally went up and got my hair done. after i got home i ran/unloaded/reloaded the dw twice, entered the amounts in the budget, dusted the dr, read 1 sect of my book, made a salad, restocked the frig w pepsi, took the carrots out of the bag and put them into 2 containers, took the sticker off the tomatoes. fri midnight, i ate my salad, balanced 3 months of the ck book, paid my condo fees thru the end of the yr and went to bed exhausted fri morning, i woke at 10am. i listened to a show on here, then took myself to my favorite coffee shop for a sub. came home and dusted lr while listening to dool, changed a light bulb, did the dailies, took a bath and shaved, cut the tags off my dry cleaning, and straightened the junk drawer. all before 6pm. mary
Mary, that seems like a lot of soda to me! I like soda, but I don't drink it on a regular basis. As a result, I rarely ever buy soda, unless there is a party. Sounds like you did a lot over the past couple of days!
Mary...I totally understand the soda thing. I don't drink soda at all any longer because of health issues, but I used to. Now I drink water only and due to garbage in our town's water system, the tap water is undrinkable. So, I have to buy water and I, too, like to get it all overwith in one or two trips when it is on sale. DD and I cleaned the house this morning. She's pretty good about getting the dishes done regularly, but she hates to take out the trash (which is one of her chores). It was overflowing so bad that I told her if it ever gets like that again I was going to put it in the middle of her bed.  She's a great girl, but neither of my kiddos like taking out the trash. At nearly 27, DS STILL hates to take out the trash and it's his OWN trash. Anyway, we got the whole little place cleaned, all our errands ran, and I'm on my last load of laundry. DD has a benefit concert tonight that we'll be leaving for in a little while. We're supposed to help set up and then I'm supposed to take care of the raffle ticket sales (Not looking forward to doing that). But....shhhhh....don't tell....I think I get to stay home ALL day tomorrow, and I'm going to actually take some time for myself. I have a TON of work to do for my job so it will only be for a little while, but I'm planning to lay on the couch and watch a movie with DD and do a little sewing, maybe some reading. So looking forward to summer break. Hate not having the income, but LOVE having time to do some fun things and just "be".
at 6pm i went to the dry cleaners. picked up my poncho and tried to drop off my summer raincoat, but they can't do that, so home again and got a skirt to drop off. then i came home, ate some cereal, cut off the tag, hung up the poncho and raincoat and cut a page of an old calendar into note paper. i was finished w everything at 730 and then read aol, the forum and my personal juno. i went ahead and put all the mail that came in the last 2 days into folder, then had a bowl of chicken corn chowder. i restocked the napkins and sweetener and wiped out the bowl then started reading email. read 31 aol and 60 juno, then ate some cheeze its and yoghurt and went to bed at 2am. slept til 2pm. got up and listened to a show, ran the vac in the lr and dr, read a sect of my book and went to taco bell for a burrito supreme. home again. did budget work, fed metro his moist food for sat and did the dailies. then took a bath and clipped my toenails. decided to get the clothes in the wash and got on here by 710pm. mary
i got on here at 715pm sat. i took a quick 5 min break to put my clothes in the dryer and another break at 9pm for some cereal, then finished up reading my 75 email for the day by midnight. at midnight, i ate some hamburger soup, then i painted my toe nails while listening to 3 episodes of an online show and then listened to an hr 1/2 audio download while eating some crackers and yoghurt and went to bed about 530am. i woke at 11am on sun. i listened to an hr and 20 min download, then ran the vac in the gbr, read a sect of my book and went to subway for lunch in the pouring rain. when i got home i had to pickup all the things on my over the door storage in the coat closet b/c it had fallen down. i put away the clothes i washed yest after drying them, ran and emptied the dw and ate some cereal after my daily routine. i restocked the bottled water in the frig and gave metro his moist food for sun. next i watched 2 episodes of 60 min, took a bath and ate some hamburger soup. and just got on here after 10pm. mary
I did indeed enjoy my time off on the sofa! Although it didn't last all day. LOL I watched a movie with DD, fell asleep in the middle of it, and woke up to see the ending. She said that I didn't miss much...teeheehee
And, now, the start of another busy week. Here are just a few highlights: - Finish work records and get in the mail (today or tomorrow) - Prepare for DFs surprise birthday party to be this Sunday (I'll be doing decorations and activities.) - 8th grade graduation (Thurs) - I'm on the decorating committee. - Teach 3 classes - Prepare 5 powerpoints for my summer dinosaur camp.
I'm sure there are a hundred other things, but I can't remember them right now.
i took a break for some corn flakes at 11. by 215am i had read my 75 email for tue and the forum and aol. then at 3 i took a break for some canned soup and after that i listened to 4 audio downloads. i put vinegar thru the coffee maker and ran/emptied the dw and took a bath. i went to bed at 715am, after downing 2 snickers bars. i woke at 10am. i listened to a tape, then left to go to community mental health to take them my earnings statement. when i got back it was time for dool. after it ended, i went to hq to buy a new dw. that took an hr. it poured as soon as i got home along w thunder and lightening. when it passed i went to bj's to buy gas. i was supposed to pick up my dry cleaning at 6pm but at 545 i fell asleep and slept just long enough for the dry cleaner to be closed. i had my first food since 7am... corn flakes again! i was so hungry that i didn't even want to wait for the microwave. then i got on here. mary
Finished the last of my work records yesterday afternoon and put them in the mail today. Always a big sigh of relief when I'm done with those each quarter. Now I don't have to do them again until October. Ahhhhh!!!!!!
Today, I went to look at the room where we will have DF's birthday party on Sunday so I could figure out decorations. I just looked through the windows. That was all I really needed to do anyway. I am going to go very frugal with the decorating, but it will still be festive. I think since it's at a BBQ place I will get some of those red/white checkered plastic tables cloths. They have them at the dollar store in town right now. I would like to cut them maybe into thirds and use them as runners down the tables. I don't want to cover the whole table because they are made of beautiful varnished wood, but I do want something colorful on them. And since it's Memorial Day weekend, there are red, white and blue decorations at the dollar store too so I'll pick up something that will work as well as some balloons. Oh, and we're going to play Pin the Tail on the Donkey. My DF never had a kiddie birthday party growing up during the depression so I'm pulling out the classic party game for him.
Next up on the work front is making my 5 presentations for my dinosaur camp and then graduation on Thursday.
Busy, busy time of year for me and then, after next Wednesday (our last day of school for the kids) it will be quiet.
last night, i took a break for some bean soup at 10pm. it took until 1 am to finish my 75 for wed and then i fell asleep while listening to a show on here. i woke to the door bell at noon. my clog cannon had come. i'll let you know how it works when i get around to taking it out of the box. then i relistened to the show that i ended up sleeping thru last night and after that i watched dool. while i watched, i stripped the bed and got it remade w my summer sheets while i washed the winter ones. as soon as the show ended, i made a salad for 630pm and then fixed a grilled cheese and ate that. i ran/emptied the dw, folded and put away the winter sheets, cleaned my earrings restocked the dt caf fr coke, did the dailies, pd a bill, looked at 2 sets of coupons and took a shower and washed my hair. i've had this awful feeling all day that i'm forgetting something mary
Mary, I know that feeling, just push it aside. It can't have been that important or you would eventually find out as I did that you had run out of bread or something similar. (I discovered half a loaf of day old bread bought for croutons in the freezer and that saved me from going all the way to town. It is good enough for toasting).
I'm fascinated, and slightly envious, by how long you manage to sleep at times. If I ever slept for 10 or 12 hours I would think I had died and gone to heaven, LOL!
Well, I got the blanket done, and I got us tickets for the local musical, and we have an outing planned with a group of friends, so that is my mini goal list taken care of!
i realized 2 things i forgot.... some noncritical budget work and i WAS going to go ahead and move the coke out of the way for delivery of my new dw tomorrow.
i took a break last night around 11pm for a cup o' noodles and finished up reading my 75 email for thu at 1am. then i listened to a webinar and read the last of my downloads. i ran 'disc clean up' while listening to 2 motivational tapes and picked out an outfit and restocked the toilet paper in addition to knitting while i listened. i ate 2 snickers bars and went to bed at 345am. i woke at 7am and listened to another motivational tape, then took a bath and shaved. i dusted the mbr, read 1 sect of my book, did the dailies inc restocking the reg coke, then read juno for 30 min before leaving for my dr appt. it was a good thing we left early b/c we took the wrong exit and then when we were almost there we missed the turn. traffic was horrible. i was still on time tho and even had time to use the rest room. when i got home i made up for not smoking for over 2hrs by chain smoking for about 3 hrs. every hr i would let the ash tray cool for 10 min before i dumped it and during twenty of those min i read more juno email. the last 10 min break that i took i ate another cup o noodles. that was at about 5pm and was the 1st thing i ate since getting up. i then finished up my 75 email for fri and went just outside to get my pool pass. that took 20 min as there was a long line. mary
Dianaro....You're so right, so much has happened in my life in this past year. I need to keep reminding myself of that so that I will realize that it's OK to cut myself some slack here and there.
I have begun work on my 5 Dinosaur Camp PPT's. I'm about halfway through all 5 of them. They're due to be turned in for approval next Wednesday.
8th grade graduation this afternoon went very well. Lots of hands made light work. It was very well organized, 3 students spoke, and a fabulous keynote speaker as well. We even had cake and punch refreshments and a photographer to take each graduates portrait. The only thing I didn't like about it was that I had to work with the group of teachers from the city on it. We all work great together as a team, but they are what I refer to as the "pretty people". Not because they necessarily ARE pretty, but because they THINK they are pretty with their fancy cars and fancy clothes and hair and makeup. I just always come away from a function with that crew feeling a little bit like a hick from the sticks. It's OK. I'll get over it, and I only have to get together with this particular group once or twice a year so it's tolerable.
I just finished giving DD a Life 101 lesson. I've been trying to work as many of those in as I possibly can since R's death because 1. You never know - I could be next. 2. She's going to be 18 in 14 months and needs to know how to take care of things so she doesn't HAVE to depend on someone else to do them unless she WANTS to. I want her to be able to be self-sufficient.
So, her latest Life 101 lesson was clearing a clogged bathtub drain. I have done it many, many times before very simply, but this tub had a different kind of plug than I had encountered before so I went to my trusty ole computer and Googled the thing. Five minutes later, we had it apart, drain cleared and put back together good as new. Next time it happens, I'll have her do it herself to make sure she's got it.
All my family is arriving at different times tomorrow and all staying in different places and then laying low until Sunday so that the party will be a surprise for our Dad. So, after working tomorrow, the next thing on my agenda will be putting together the party decorations.
Carol: You do very very well. Hey those ladies aren't from OC or Beverly Hills are they! I think that is why they feel a "need" to over do! Cannot believe the importance of looking good in their lives! I know it is a show, but it is over the top! LOL
Just keep being YOU.
Good luck with the party, please wish your dad a happy birthday from me.
Carol, I think certain cities propagate that kind of mentality. When we were in Europe we saw a lot of the platform soles and 6 inch heels, and the overdone clothes and makeup. It is so good to be back in the sticks where people dress nicely but not OTT. As for fancy cars, we love them for rentals - a real treat to have satellite radio and all the other bells and whistles - but we own ancient cars that are very solid and fixable. Enjoy your Dad's party, hope he has a wonderful time. Your decorating plans sound great. Simplicity and flair seem to be your gift!
Mary, my reactions to your post were to laugh because one half of me was wanting to "tutt, tutt" at your chain smoking and the other half was cheering you on because you seem to be such a free spirit! (I shall be praying for your health, though).
I think I am going to add a late goal, to finish a dress alteration project that has been lurking in the closet for a few years since I first took it apart.
Diana, it was a blanket for the Jabez Blanket Ministry. Someone else had knitted 40 squares and I crocheted around them, 3 rows, one variegated, one white, the last row being black which makes the colours "pop". Then I sewed them together, arranging the 4 centre colours carefully, and finally crocheted around the whole blanket in black.
We are going to see an amateur musical this evening, "Chicago".
Mary, you must be glad to have your new DW. We got ours replaced last year. They are much quieter than they used to be.
the blanket sounds lovely!
i worked on here steadily from 7pm fri night til 315am sat morning. i took a break for corn flakes at 9 and a break for a salad at 1am. at 330am i unloaded the dw, then put away the new owners manuel for the dw and purged my whole box of manuels. threw away A LOT!. next i put away the yellow cloth napkin which i have been meaning to do since 4/6. i ate some chips and went to bed around 5am. i was up again at 1120am. i ran the vac in the mbr, read a sect of my book and took a bath, then went to the base for cigs and kmart for some socks and underwear. i got the underwear b/c i thought i only had 1 new unworn pair, but when i went to put away the new ones i found 5 unworn pairs. i guess the only thing i might need now is knee socks. i put the socks in the top of my closet and entered the amounts on my budget, then i ate some cereal and did the dailies. i gave metro his moist food for sat. i took a nap for an hr then ate a turkey and swiss sandwich. i decided i would only read what just came in and then call it a night. it only took 45 min to read everything. mary
Mary, your unusual schedule seems to work very well for you. I bet Metro just works around it beautifully since he always gets fed and his "poo-box" cleaned!
Haven't got to that sewing alteration yet, but I'm not going to let it worry me. I figure I will get it done when I'm good and ready.
after i posted, i made a grocery list. i still have tons of food in the house b/c i've been eating out so much. next i ate some hm bean soup w ham, then i put my clog cannon tog and tried it on my sink. i think i need to take out the quarter sized plunger in the sink for it to work. i was hoping not to have to do that. oh well..... i couldn't sleep, so i went to work getting the bottom of my garment bag cleaned out. there were no clothes in it just papers, slippers and skeins of yarn. i got my closet all arranged how i want and counted almost everything in my wardrobe. i DID NOT count the sweaters or the suits as there are so many of them.... 2 drawers full of sweaters and a garment bag full of suits. i'm almost done getting rid of 3 for 1! i worked on myknitting for 45 min while listening to a tape and went to bed about 6am. sun i woke at 4pm. i went to wendy's for a baked potato, but they were out of them, so i had a single w cheese. came home and scrubbed the dr frig, chandelier and stove, then did the dailies. i gave metro his moist food, watched 60 min, cut the dry cleaners tags off 2 jackets and got 1 ready to wear, then tackled my backed up sink. what i thought would take 2 hrs, took all of 5 min. i decided to check the other sink also and then read 2 sect of my book. checked and found 2 more things that still had the cleaning tags on. removed those, then took a bath, emptied the dw and restocked the pepsi and water bottles. i ate my cup o noodles, then knitted 6 rows while i watched the 1st hr of 'die hard w avengeance'
