Diana, thanks.

I gathered all the additional papers I was asked to bring in and took them to the tax office, this evening. Turned out we didn't need them, after all! Ah, well. I was able to organize a couple of files as a result. smile

The good news is: This year's taxes are all done and filed! Yay! A load off my mind!

Also, paid one of the bills that was coming due. Another item crossed off my list.

bless is NOT a mess, just like everyone has said, just busy and overwhelmed. Welcome to life as we know it and stop beating yourself up! Getting rid of the carpet was a big bonus for you, think of all the "stuff"(ugh) that went out the door with it. Now take your time, make your list of little things and take it one step at a time.

Glad you got your taxes done, SO and I drove to Flint over the weekend and met with my accountant and both of our are done and filed now as well.

Carol, as far as trash pickup goes, the drivers note if there is no trash being picked up at the old place. I had changed companies at my house and the original company tried to continue the billing process. When asked, they said there had been no pickups during the time they were billing me for, so I asked for and got an adjusted bill showing I didn't owe them for that....see if they do the same in your area.

Mary: I didn't miss my DM so much yesterday, as I missed my stepfather. It was the anniversary of his birthday, yesterday.

Also, I was doing my filing and he was my "filing buddy"! He used to help me set up my files and, in fact, one of the files I worked on yesterday HAD been started for me by him (his handwriting was on the front of the file). It was he who mentored me as to how files should be maintained (he'd write the date received on every piece of correspondence, the date/amt/check#, etc. on every bill statement, note dates & actions taken on the front of the file folders, etc., etc., etc.)

It seemed to me that filing was a good thing to do on his birthday, and I felt his presence near me all the time. There was a note he had written on the back of the file he had started for me and it was addressed to me - he had written his pet name for me and then, "Very, very good!" I took that as a message that he approved of my filing! laugh

BL: Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, I was feeling overwhelmed! Venting here helped, because I had all you ladies encouraging me. Now, the filing backlog has been cleared, the taxes are done, several other smaller tasks have been crossed off, and I am feeling much better, more able to cope! Thank you. smile
