I sat down last night with my graph paper and scissors and made a to-scale mock-up of the "office" area and the furniture that I wanted to put in there. I tried every which way I could configure it, and it just wasn't going to fit. I have ended up eliminating one of the tables (not quite sure what I'll do with it yet). I've decided that I'm going to put the pseudo filing cabinet (aka blanket chest) behind the couch in the living room. It's only about 5 feet away from my desk anyway so I "think" I can walk that far to get my files when I need them.

It's a nice looking piece of furniture anyway and exactly matches the other wood pieces that I have in the living room so it will look like it was meant to be that way.
So, after all that furniture moving (on paper!), early this afternoon I had DD help me move the office pieces around to where I had them placed on the graph paper. And, guess what? It works great! So much easier than moving the actual furniture over and over again until I get it right. Now, I've got the big pieces placed properly in the office area just need to get everything loaded until the shelves.
Forgot to add that I have also eliminated my desktop computer. I just DO not have room for it any more. When time and money allows, I will buy an inexpensive laptop for my personal use. I should be able to find one that will suit my needs pretty reasonably priced. It certainly does not have to have all the bells and whistles. My work laptop has that.
Next, I will have DD help me move the couch into position and get the other big pieces in the living room set up. Then, I'll tackle the boxes.
