Have you used Pinterest? How can it help your organizing business?

Kind of surprised to see zero opinions on this. I did pin my first picture today of an organizing idea and within 10 minutes, I had five comments. People must be looking for ideas.

I don't know that you'll get clients from it. I think people are looking for free ideas and very few of them will be local. It's fantastic for getting ideas yourself though!

Good point about them not being local. So if an organizer also has a book for sale or organizing products, they can expand their market for that perhaps.

What about finding ideas to use?

I've gotten some great ideas on it, especially from other organizers.

What did you search for to find them? By catagory, such as kitchens, or by the word organizer or by the name of the organizer person?

I follow a lot of organizers on Twitter so I tend to get to their Pinterest pages that way.

Here's a question for you organizers out there. Have you found that clients are bringing up stuff that they saw on Pinterest? On a recent listserv conversation, a PO was looking for ideas for a client but they had to be "unique". The client was specific that she didn't want something that she could find herself on a google search. Are we going to be running up against this with the rise of Pinterest? Are clients going to think, well, I can just go on Pinterest for ideas why would I need to hire a PO?

Okay I've neglected this post too! Sorry folks!

Pinterest is a huge opportunity for organizers. Yes, people are looking for free ideas and information. Yes, people may do projects themselves. However, the pictures on Pinterest drive traffic back to the photo's original site. So if you post some great, unique content, you can drive a lot of people back to your site.

I've been posting my blog entries via Pinterest and my traffic has dramatically increased. Make sure you read Pinterest's rules and regulations before posting and make sure you own the rights to the picture or photo you are posting.
