WOOHOO Frugal!!!! Good news indeed!

In working on setting up the kitchen today, I'm finding that I am having to think outside of my usual ideas on where I want things in the kitchen. I have LOADS of cabinets, but some of them are just not the right size for my things (ie, pots and pans will not fit in the cabinets near the stove). So....I'm having to release my strict idea that they HAVE to be next to the stove. They fit beautifully in the cabinets under the long counter across the kitchen so that is their new home.

I also have a floor to ceiling built-in pantry cabinet that is pretty large, but the cabinets are DEEP and tall, and I'm short. SO....it is going to be much easier for me to use other cabinets for pantry items. The "pantry" cabinet is right next to where my office is, which used to be the dining area, so it will actually be better used as a place to put office supplies and such.

Last night, my DS was here and I had him take the folding doors off the laundry closet which sits right behind my desk/office area. The doors were just in my way when I did laundry. I couldn't get the dryer door all the way open without a struggle. Also, I wanted to pull the washer and dryer out so that I can really clean back there and with the doors on I just couldn't do that. I had him put the doors under my bed for "out of sight" storage, and I plan to put a curtain up to hide the laundry area, but make it more easily accessible for me. Plus, I think it will just be more homey and soft looking with a curtain.

Looking around it doesn't appear that I've even made a dent in getting things organized, but I'm making progress and fitting it in during breaks from working throughout the day.

I have to share what I just did...Every day I find there are more and more things that I am capable of that I either never knew about or didn't think that I could do on my own. I just finished leveling my refrigerator. This may seem like a very simple and mundane task to some, but until last night, I didn't even know that it was possible. I thought you had to stick a paper towel under one of the sides to keep it from wobbling. But, I got out my trusty flowered-handle screwdriver, popped off the front cover and leveled that puppy just like I knew what I was doing. HURRAY for me!

Well done Carol!

Definitely an Amen Frugal!

Goals are going well.
I am off to a memorial meal later as it is a year since my nan passed. The charm bracelet is complete so I will be able to show DC and DN it and they in turn will show me their tattoos that they have had done to remember nan.
Exercise has been a little sporadic, but the healthy eating has improved.
I have started another assignment today. It does not have to be in for three weeks, but I thought I would strike while the iron is hot.
I dropped a lot of donations off and I am listing some more items on ebay. The house is getting emptier and the branches are helping me to stay on top of it.
I want to clean the whole house this weekend before I go away. I love coming home from a break to a clean house, so it is worth the work beforehand.

WooHoo Frugal!

Way to go Carol. Slow and steady wins the race- remember you really are having a new beginning and can make your new home exactly what you want it to be.

Hope the memorial meal goes well Karen. Sounds like you have been very productive. I agree about the clean house and coming back from a trip.

Spring Break is at the end of the month so I need to get my plans made which is on my March Goals list (so that's on my to-do list for this weekend).

Progress is being made in the kitchen. I have emptied all of the boxes for that room, and I can actually start to see the tops of the counters and walk in there now. I was hoping to have it all done today, but it looks like that's not going to happen as I have some other things that I need to tackle.

When my DS came over the other night, he said that this place reminded him of the show "Hoarders". Oh My! But, he's right. At the moment, it does look similar to the places on that show. The big exception is all of my cabinets are empty so my things have a place to go. I just have to get the time to put them there. My parents want to come over and see our new home as well, but right now I'd be afraid for them to come here for fear they would fall over something.

Tomorrow I will be gone all day with DD at her music festival/competition. But, Sunday, I plan to be home all day. I have some things to catch up on for work, but I also plan to do some major "unpacking" as well.
