i still have 3 folders that i haven't touched (altho i AM reading all the current stuff) tog these add up to about 1500, but the folder i'm currently working on is now below 800 (it started out at 1400)
i'm working on reading 75 email 6 days/week, but some days i get another 60 in so that means that i only c/u 15 for that day

haven't posted in a while. i'm still reading 75 email/day. i still have the 3 untouched files, but the 1 i WAS working when i last posted has gone from almost 800 to less than 450. most of my catghing up in on the weekends as i read all the new email 1st and most week days thats 50-60. weekends i usually get another 30 - 40. these little bits of extra reading done every day have really added up.
in addition, i read/listened to all my downloads.
i listened to 1 or 2 downloads/day when i didn't have a webinar to listen to and next thing i knew i was done

I am actually doing better about purging my emails and clearing the inbox. Next step, going through the folders and purging them as well.

I purge fairly regularly but it is surprising how I suddenly find either the in or the sent box way too full! Can you imagine if all these e-mails we get and send were snail mail?

i would pity the letter carrier. we have become a nation of frequent, quick note writers.

Jo, Why not set up an address just for you so you're not dealing with other people's actions? It only takes about 3 minutes to set up a gmail address and it's free.
Or if you want to keep the one address, you might have to go in and move all of his stuff to a folder and organize it on a regular basis. One of the biggest issues with organization is dealing with other people and what they will or will not do.

i had a setback in my mental illness and consequently a setback on getting c/u on email. i stopped reading any of it for about 10 days.
the folder i was working on quickly went from 450 to over 610. i've just now gotten it down to 420 and hopefully i'll stick w my original goal of 75/day, reading all of thenew things and about 20 - 30 of the old ea day

I think I need a new address to use for the stuff I don't want to read everyday (junk mail isn't quite the right word, but emails from companies etc). I wonder if I can link it to my other account or if I have to go through and input my new email address into every account?
I really just want to simplify my main email inbox--so if I have extra time I can read certain things but if I don't get to it, its less of a big deal.

Tina, the best thing I did was to set up a hotmail account as well as my regular account. I use that e-mail address for anything I don't want to clutter up my regular inbox, which comes automatically onto the computer. Also it is a non-identifying account which can be useful sometimes.
All my Facebook notifications go to that hotmail account, and at one time I had a "friend" who continually played FB games and I got notified every time! (I later defriended as she had a huge number of friends anyway and was in no way close to me. In fact I keep the number down to 6 or 7 because I'm not keen on FB).
I check on the hotmail account regularly and delete where necessary, but it is not a big deal.
