Thinking of you Ann, as you deal with this new phase in your long marriage. You are obviously looking on it as a challenge and not a chore. Glad that your DH is home and progressing well.

Today is new bed day - Yaaaaaay! After 25 years we finally tackled the problem of the difficulty getting a queen size base up the staircase, and we ordered a split base and a mattress that would flex slightly. The guys took the old bed away and installed the new one under DH's watch, while I was out.

JDI
Dailies,
Strip old bed, vacuum underneath, launder mattress pad - done
Counselling appointment - done
Mail two letters - done
Make up new bed
either rest or snowshoe, not sure which as my head has been muzzy most of the day so far.
Pick up mail
See what I can get up to this evening.
Try out new bed!!

Thankyou Bushlady, It really is a challenge but if they didnt come along to make life interesting one could get very tired of knitting and thinking about past tests. I couldnt volunteer to do much for others (my health) so my husband project is a life lesson. Got to remember the ME focus and above all not to sound like a martyr. (by the way I do not tell DH he is a project) or a work project. He just laps up the benefits and continues to do well. We are a funny old couple.
Today more laundry.
Make grocery list based on newer recipes.
Work on my papers . to get my sense of organization back. I will toss so much.
cook for today with some plans for future meals.
try to exercise Charlie.
this morning DH is at his own Dr, Very pleased with himself he did his own blood sugar test. the results were good. The military life of so many years trained him well . He has all of his meds lined up like little soldiers. I dont mean to sound condescending I have taken advantage of his strenghts throughout our lives. Now back to the practcalities my drier calls. Thank you Bless for starting up the new threads. You are a wonderful friend!

Ann:
TYG that your DH is back home. Good to hear. You have been taking care of him for 52 years so this is just another added feature on your journey. I like that he takes his pills and helps you that way. Do you have him keep a record or work out a system so he knows what he has taken?

Gypsy has 3 pills to take each day, and the doctor added an antibiotic, so I mark the calendar with what I have taken of my meds and hers also. I make little circles or a check mark for another med and then a X for another med. Works for me! I seem to forget when I do things every day whether or not I took the pill, etc., so that was the system I came up with for myself!

Darlene:
Ditto from me also about being there for your mom. You will never regret it, and she is much more interesting than cleaning!

Well, TYG my friend is doing great! Another of my felting friends came over and I was able to take care of a few things before I went back to bring dinner. We all had dinner together last night. She could use some prayers if you can.

Also another friend lost his mom, and it happened I was at the same hospital when he was there with his brother. I didn't recognize him at first (wrong glasses on) and when I heard his voice I knew it was him. We joked about thinking we were our DOUBLES, in life, and then he told me about his mom. His wife is one of the ladies I go to lunch each month. Was glad I could express my condolences as I knew I wouldn't be home for a few days.

Good to be back and rambling. LOL

Thanks ladies for the confirmation that spending time with my Mom is a good choice. I do agree that house work can and will wait. I try to do enough to keep my home running smoothly. But I also want to fully enjoy and appreciate whatever time I have left with my mother.

For today -
- more sewing on my quilt (I got quite a bit done yesterday)
- more tossing and reorganizing in my living room (baby steps)
- bake buns (I'm thinking of doing multiple batches as a stock up)
- other tasks?

Finished up a prayer shawl for my friend. I wanted to finish it before I left, but was too busy helping her. I also worked on my christmas cards.

The house is in good shape. I am thinking about moving some larger cooking pots back out to the laundryroom, and/or in the garage when it is warmer. It takes some time to decide what to do as things change in the house. If I can avoid stairs I do. We are now getting snow!

We were in the 60s yesterday!!!!!!!! Good old midwest!

Usedto be messy, you may occasionally get messy again. BUT as the others have said. You still have your wonderful mom. I looked after my mom until she had to go (she was 94) and while recognizing how lucky we were to have that time. I miss her and still talk to her everyday. You will have NO regrets and I know that you are not questioning that but live each moment with her. Let her talk and laugh with you. I do wish you both all the best. Isnt it nice that you can come here and know we are all on side with you .

Happy Party Bless. Just look at your post and what you do.
Today jdi,
I can see the bottom of my laundry hamper.
A small grocery shopping today.
Copy out some makeover recipes.
Some buisiness on the computer I must deal with.
Walk Charlie.
Take your meds Gypsy! Charlie has a schedule too Diane sounds like yours. Ann 39
