Happy March 1st, everyone! I love the 1st of every month as it represents a new beginning! The whole rest of the month stretches out in front, with its promise of 30 or 31 days!

Let's pick our room or rooms for this month and get it organized!

I am going to pick the whole house as my March "ROTM"! Partly because I've company coming on Sat., and I want to give the public rooms, at least, a good cleaning. Partly because it will be my version of spring cleaning. But much of my focus will need to be in the 3rd bedroom, which is being used as office/crafts/guest/and, increasingly, storage room! shocked

Which room or rooms are you going to focus on this month?

I'm carrying on with the same room as February - my living room. I have 2 major goals - 1. clear out excess (aka "tossing") and 2. reorganize storage spaces to make better use of what I have available. Some of this project will extend into other areas as some items will be moved to other areas of my house.

I will continue with the office as I will be a gimp for the next 6 weeks, 3 weeks of a cast on my left arm followed by 3 weeks of therapy. Surgery went well and dr told me that it was a good thing we did it as it definitely would not have healed on its own as it was that bad(severe tendonitis in the left thumb).

I figure that since I can't do dishes(that really bums me out....NOT!!!), and any type of heavy lifting, I can work on papers and more organizing in the office...hopefully making some more progress in there. The past few days haven't been productive at all as I am just trying to figure out how to get myself dressed and have to go buy some pants for work that don't have zippers and buttons! Also had an allergic reaction to the meds so spent the past 2 days scratching.....but SO has been an absolute doll, dressing me at the hospital, doing dishes, cooking and running me around ....then scolding me for even trying to do anything.

Cyd, glad I could offer some direction. It really is a basic approach to dealing with it .....but I know SO, and he doesn't want to deal with paper at all. Had him go get gas for me and put on my dr card, and when asked for the receipt, he said he threw it away.....the difference between having to have records and living a life of cash !!He and I are a work in progress and compormise! we will get there as we are commmitted to each other!

For me today, the challenge is to shower, do the hair and get dressed with one hand....no work til monday, dr's orders!

Thank you Bless for starting the thead. I truly appreciate it.

What kind of cake are you making for DD? I know you decorate it, let us know what you are planning.

BL:
Sounds like you picked the right guy! Please take care of yourself. The sooner it heals the faster you will get back to your old ways with two hands! LOL

I am still in the basement, but not feeling overwhelmed. Was down there this morning getting ribbon and wrapping paper to wrap my DDILs birthday gift, and looked around, I think I am almost finished!!!!!!

I have some sorting of crafts to gather together to get into the garage sale for April this month, and go thru the books to see if I want to sell some more at half price books, only make one trip there, and discard any broken bins or topless ones, and that will be it! A good vacuuming and mopping and that is it!

Diana, you are quite welcome. It was my pleasure to do so. smile

I will be making a chocolate cake. There is no theme, as such, this year, but the girl is crazy about all things Japanese, so, I am thinking of decorating it to look like a Japanese fan. Shouldn't be too difficult.

I need to do a grocery run a bit later this a.m. and then, I'll start on the house cleaning.

I really need to get back on here on a regular bases. I want to do some major tossing this year. I was even excited things would let me but DF dropped the bomb last night he's planning on moving home and me finding them help. Now I'm a wreck.

Anyway if I can get some work done I plan on doing major tossing in my daughters/guest room. I have stuff to take and see if I can sale to a couple of people. Then I need to make DD decide if I have to keep them. I really want to unload that room.

I would like to start on the yard too. I'm making new pillows and a table cloth. I have some major painting that needs to be done too. Right now we are having temps that allow me to work outside during the week but not weekends so I haven't gotten much done.

Ok hopefully I can start on the bedroom this coming week. Tomorrow is doing to be dealing with my parents disowning. Hopefully I'll take my hurt and stuff out on the room.

Well all hell broke out this weekend with parents. They have decided to move home and take care of themselves. I tried to talk to them about it but they plan on taking me to court over it and really where they live now I can't force them to stay there.

I know some people will think bad about me but as far as I'm concern I'm only going to talk to them once a week. They almost killed me before they moved into this place and I can't get like that again. I know they think I'll buckle but I'm not. They also seem to think all these people are going to do and help them and they might once or twice but on going.

Anyway I'm going to work on my house. Today is spent doing errands and then I'm going to work on closet in guest room. There's stuff in there that needs trash and some other stuff I want DD to decide on. Since it's so hard for her to get down here to help me I'm going to take pictures of the things and then on our trip to the big mall I can asked her about them.

If I have time and energy I need to make a patter for the pillows and then I can get them cut out and also the bench cushion. That will help with getting them made and also cleaning up the sewing room.

Ok right now I'm going to post a question I need help with and hope the day gets better.

The day will get better Cindy. Sometimes, esp with family members, distance can be the best thing. I speak from experience with my sister....not a nice person and I find I actually pity her. But on Xmas morning I went over to pick up DB and give her a small gift I had picked up for her only to be cussed up one side and down the other, never mind this happened with me standing on the front porch as she won't allow me in her house. Just do what you can do and stand strong. You will get through it. I agree with using the energy to tackle a cleaning or organizing....when the day is over, you will step back and smile.

I didn't accomplish anything this weekend. I have learned that it takes a lot more energy to get ANYTHING done with your hand in a cast so I spent the weekend relearning the basics, like how to get in and out of my bra! Also spent the entire day Saturday at an area wrestling tournament that SO's was in. he won 2 and lost 2, but by the time we left, I was stiff from sitting on those wood bleachers.

He and his friend spent the weekend here working on a science project and since I am a gimp, I was job hunting online.

Cindy, I was just "lurking" on here and I was saddened to learn about what you are going through with your parents. I know only too well how they can stress you out, and I also know what it feels like to be disowned - you start to question your whole life!

It makes no sense for your parents to move back and "take care of themselves". They want independence at everyone else's expense and will sap the life out of anyone who supports them in this move. It is one thing to step in and help out in an emergency, quite another to be permanently on call for everything.

I hope things work out well for you. Be strong and don't worry about what other people think. Those that haven't a clue will think they know all the answers, those that understand will be right behind you, cheering you on.
