Never got back on here, due to a little bit of vertigo yesterday. UFP was cancelled due to the snow coming, and of course he had the driveway plowed by 11. We meet at 1~ As it was feeling a little waukey, it worked out well. Took the meds and today feel much better. TYG!

Have a luncheon date with a friend and then a little look and see at some shops.

Diana, glad to hear that you are feeling better, but you take it easy and rest! (((HUGS)))

I am planning to get some major work done in my ROTM, later today. After that, I need to work on the whole house for the rest of this week, to get the place ready for a party, next Sat.

I felt better yesterday except looking up at things in the store or down, so came home and took another pill. After dinner I found myself asleep the entire evening! Guess between the pill and being tired I needed it. Glad to hear you rested too.

Diana: Take it easy today, too, and rest! That's a Royal Command from the Good Queen Bless! laugh

Oops, forgot to say: DD tidied the family room last night. So, I've only to vacuum the sofa covers (dark grey cat and white sofa covers!) and sweep the floor!

Cyd, have opted for the KISS principal....Keep It Simple Stupid.

When I was incorporated in my biz in GA, I made full size check book log page showing, date, type(of payment-debit,credit, web-for how I paid it), to whom, for what, deposit, amount paid, then at the far right was for the balance.

SO pays me a set amount from his pay each week for bills. I use that with my money to pay all of our joint bills. We both also have individual bills-spending, gas, auto, medical, etc. Remember that he has only lived here since October so not everything is together.

I set up dividers--one is titled home and on that page I log in all the bills that are paid, mortgage, gas, electric, etc. The next category is food, and I detail grocery, dining out etc. The next category is SO for expenses he has showing what bills he owes, including a couple of loan payments and I note when and how much is paid and keep track of balances on those. I also log in the money on a separate sheet in that category that he gives me for expenses so he can see it with a glance. I have another category for my stuff. I have another section titled misc for anything else.

It is really more of a divided journal showing expenses but also dividing it between mine, his and ours. He had lots of issues with his ex as he would give her his check to pay for everything, she assured him it was paid, then things would get turned off and that was also how he lost his house too. (she hid bills and fielded calls then took out loans to pay for what she spent and forged his name on those losns)She was a piece of work and even though he doesn't admit it, there are trust issues in that area. This is a way that he can see where everything is going. I told him that even though he said he trusts me, we both had issues with our ex's and I want everything out on the table...no issues as I know money is one of the biggest problems a couple can have.

The good part is that I have a joint file drawer for everything and any details can be found in there easily....even though he never wants to deal with paper, its there if needed. on the desk top is a 2 baset file with a stacker file holder on that. I use the basket as an inbox, then sort into folders above titled to pay now,, mine, SO and soem other things that are in process, like my tax stuff. As those items get paid and pulled, then they get logged. Yes it is a little time consiming, but so far it is the simplest way to get his attention. He won't generally look at it, so every couple of weeks, I pull things out and take ten minutes with him to update it.

hope that helps

MY ROTM is going slow. The freezing weekend weather at work standing at the open door took the wind out of me. Came home Saturday nite and had a half glass of wine while SO and I made dinner then was ready for bed. Didn't do any ROTM last night as I took me time and watched the oscars for the first time inmany years....what a treat Billy Crystal is!

Giving 30 minutes before work to bills and papers. Will do likewise tomorrow morning assuming that I am having surgery tomorrow afternoon and know I won't feel like much afterward. Still waiting for insurance to give approval even though we have it scheduled(workman comp.....so slow and fussy....aarrgghh)

We had a double posting, so I deleted it BL! Great system and easy to follow, but still more work, totally do understand why though.

Had a wonderful time at the party at DS2s house. My DDIL is so talented and does things so well. Had a red carpet when you came in (plastic), a clip board with voting ballots to mark before the show, individual tables with food themes for some of the nominated movies, and stars hanging from the ceiling. So cute. If one won the category and was the only one, you were able to pick a prize, and if more than one picked the same winner, you received raffle tickets and were able to pick your prize if you had the winning raffle ticket. It was really fun and we had a great time.

Obviously I did nothing but prepare as a Goddess would for my grand entrance on the Red carpet, so no time for frivilous things as cleaning, etc!

don't know how i double posted as it only showed once for me, so thanks for fixing.

your awards show sounds like lots of fun, and knowing you, i am sure you were a dream on the red carpet!

I spent every spare minute on phone Monday and finally got surgery approval at 445pm, My how they do drag it out. And then they wanted me in by 10 instead of 1230, so SO's sister#1(not the ex roomie) drove me and she left when he got there from work(he had to work til 930). Surgery went well & was home by 3. Funny what you think you feel when you are completely numb. Weird too when your arm is numb and won't do anything and you end up hitting yourself as it flops around! Also funny when you realize all the things you can't do with one hand...like zipping your pants, tying your shoe, or taking off a bra, or opening those little butter packets at the restaurant! SO was very helpful, but was a giggling fool at my frustration of limits.

No major pain at all....just planning a shower and figuring out how to get ready for dr visit as a one handed gimp! Doing a small bit of paperwork filing but thats it for today. And with the freezing rain we are getting and a 45 min drive, I will double my drive time allowance today

BL, many thanks for taking time to write out your terrific, easy to follow and understand system. I hope I can engage DH's interest in all things financial. He needs to learn to manage finances.

Everyone did well to accomplish what they did in their ROTM in Feb. Time to close this thread. The March ROTM is up and running! See you all there.
