Darlene, now that it's popular to hang TVs on the wall, Kijjiji and CraigsList list many armoires for sale which are easily converted to 'office in a cabinet.' When you shut the doors your 'home office' just disappears. DH may need to tweak it a bit for your supplies and personal preferences for example, line the back with cork to use as a bulletin board for items with deadlines.
DH put our antique rolltop desk into use as his office in the dining room. The drawers hold supplies, a row of magazine holders on the lower shelf holds projects/paperwork and still looks attractive, the higher shelf limits how many books can be active. Desk space is perfect for his laptop and he uses the dining table as support having committed to clearing the table by the end of each day.
Each Sunday we eat dinner the the dining room so the lid rolls down and the top is again a server for platters etc. I believe we may as well make use of our space to suit our needs rather than have a dining room used only a half day Sunday!

I had help this weekend, in the form of a 3 month old puppy named Lily, belongs to SO's son. I was going through the entertainment reading book cabinet in the living room and stacked several books on the floor to either donate or toss. She made the decision for me, finding them to be a tasty snack while I was at work! So 6 large hardcover books are in the trash!
Planning on ROTM time tomorrow during the day.
Off to therapy, comp dr, then work> The wrist sprain is almost healed and I cannot wait to go back to the early morning shift so I can have a life again with SO.

Cyd: You always have such great suggestions and ideas! You are right, use what you have and adjust to the situation.
BL: Not laughing but Lily is a mini organizer I see! It helps to have others ideas and help!
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Actually did some babysteps in the basement yesterday! Gathered up some books for selling, and a few other things were put away. Hoping to do another one or two babysteps today.
Yes Dianaro, Lily is just that, but also a poop machine as well....think she may have had too much fiber as a result of her snacking while helping me organize!!
Office is not pretty right now but only because I just pulled out a bunch of things. I also have a new virus program to install so that is out as well. Don't always post on a lot of the other categories but do read and came up with a good idea.
The past several years, I have had a check divider that I got from the dollar store to hold assorted receipts by category.
In an effort to make things with SO easier to track now that he is living here and contributing to expenses, I have set up a categorized binder, showing expenses that he can view easily. In an effort to streamline even more, I am eliminating the check holder and adding empty page protectors behind each category for the receipts to go into. Since the binder is a recycled one from a no longer existing project, it's one less thing to deal with. And with me utilizing old page protectors another way(again from something in the past), I am condensing things on the desktop even more, going from two methods of storage to one! May be a simple thing, but this is my aha moment for the day!
I still have a big pile under the desk from past tax years to finalize and file, but that is going to be a 2 day project and the to do list is too big to start on that today, so the desk top and the new virus program are the priorities right now.
So going to give this about an hour of work, then color my hair, run errands and then spend late afternoon going to see SO's son in his first wrestling match of the season then out to dinner with SO and his folks. I am going to show them the final ring. I was given one by SO on 12-30, but it could not be sized without ruining the integrity of the ring so lots of looking and trying of another that, even though pretty, just wasn't me.... finally ended up with a 3 diamond princess cut beauty that I love. His folks haven't seen it yet and his mom keeps asking if we are going to set a date. Told her we are both over fifty, both out of marriages that lasted almost twenty years, are living together and sharing expenses and even she admitted to me, making each other obviously very happy......so what's the hurry right now?
BL: I love those AHA moments! Sometimes the simple things are exciting to come up with. Silly yes, but wonderful at the same time.
Sounds like you are doing so well. How is your wrist? Are you finished now?
~~~~~~~~~~~ Actually got to do some babysteps yesterday. Glad, I haven't been home most of today.

Today is my UFP day. Got the floors mopped and took the packages to the post office yesterday, so all I need to do is put out the glasses and coffee cups. Another gal is baking cupcakes and bringing them. Should she not come, I have cookies to serve.
Also spoke with DS1 and they are all joining me for dinner on Sat. Don't have to drive to them (love that) and can give them their little LOVE bag for Valentine's day. Going to order pizza for dinner. Have had a taste for it, so good excuse!
Room is doing much better, still things to move, but the plan have is working well, just need to continue on it.

Diana, sounds like you are getting ready for a fun weekend. I am hoping to get a few things done this weekend. It's a relatively free weekend, when I don't have to take DD to work, etc. I've all but given up trying to do project-related things on week day evenings. Yesterday, for example, I didn't get home until after 9:30 p.m.

There are a lot of amazing ladies here. Bless, you already push yourself hard, don't do any more. 930 at nite is time to just sit and relax, unwind so you can sleep well.
dianaro, what is upf??? Love that you will have a mellow weekend. Pizza is something I can eat all the time...next to sushi, one of my favorite foods!! As far as rotm goes, the baby steps do pay off though, don't they?
I did not finish the office as I realized my time was not as available as I thought. Finally saw hand dr on Wed, and he is happy with my progress, but still has me on restrictions for at least 2 more weeks. Means still working late in day shifts, next week even later, closing almost every day I work. Hating getting off at 915 to 1045 at nite, but keep reminding myself that at least I have a job. Therapy is starting to focus on the lifting and weight I have to deal with in cases of heavy books. Funny though, as the way they have me lifting, I am not only feeling it in my arm this morning, but in my thighs too!
I am giving the office fifteen this morning and have gotten some more of the papers corralled, logged and filed so even though a baby step, it is progress. Off the next 2 days and laundry was done after work last nite so Monday will be office/rotm day.
SO is taking his son to some event tonite so he will prpbably spend the nite and the day tomorrow. I may just pick up DB and make dinner for the four of us....maybe those steaks I am gonna buy tonite(whole new york loin-new york strip steaks at $2.99/lb.)
