I took an envelope out of the drawer with all the cards, leaflets and goodness knows what, that I was clearing out the other night. I intended to get rid of the contents, but for the second time I haven't done so yet, as they are sympathy cards for DM's death in 2008. But I guess I will weed them out to a couple and get rid of the rest. Silly how these things take time!
It's halfway through January and I still have a lot of January goals I would like to accomplish, but at least the Christmas stuff is finally away.
I got the outside stuff put away this afternoon, and managed to drop one of the baubles on the little outside trees. I was surprised to find that it was glass. Somehow since it was a cheap one I had thought it was plastic.
I think the lights outside will stay longer even though they are coloured. We are out in the woods so it doesn't really matter and they are cheerful.

Took another look at "that" drawer and this time I tossed all but 3 of the sympathy cards for DM, then found a small batch from DFIL's death, showed them to DH and he said "keep them". So he also has that need to hang on still. Got rid of a few more items but I still have a lot that I can't detach from yet. I also have a keepsake box on a shelf in my bedroom closet, so I should amalgamate some of this stuff if I am going to hang onto it.
It is not easy to work in the computer room as DH is usually in there working and he doesn't appreciate me rattling around organising things. I must make a point of working there when he is elsewhere, perhaps leaving other jobs in order to get in there.

The photos sound heavenly. I have just sorted through all the photos at my grandparents house, and like you discovered many that bought back lovely memories and some I had never seen
Thanks Karen-Now the goal is to put the CD into the CD player part, and then see if I remember how to load it onto my photo album. This was taught to me by my a young college gal, I took notes, but this gives me anxiety to do it. I could call her if I have problems. So that is my goal is to JDI...ha,ha.
If all works well, then I can share it with my siblings...SIMPLE, right?!

Today's goal: Finish compiling work records to go in tomorrow's mail. I've finished 21 and have 7 to go. I always breath a sigh of relief when they are finished. This coming weekend DD has decided to go visit her dad for a day or so. I'm going to use that time to purge some more things and get to packing up what we won't need between now and the move. I contacted the Property Manager this morning and told her that we for sure want the condo we looked at Friday. She then told me that she just had a larger unit become available where we used to live that includes a garage, but the rent is $200 more. Since the whole point of our moving is to get back on track financially (and I just happened to be listening to Dave Ramsey right before I called her ), I declined that one. We will move to the smaller one instead, and make due with less space. DD is actually finally excited about it and onboard with the fact that we're moving. (She's been kind of reluctant because she does not like change and this will be the 4th move in 5 years for us.) All weekend long, she has been saying, "I really like that place. It's really cute." I'm so happy because there aren't much things worse than a teenage girl with an attitude. Just kidding - she's a great girl! Timer is about to go off signaling the end of my 15 minute break so it's back to work for me....

Carol So glad you decided to take the condo! WHOOOO HOOOOOO You being so talented, I know that you will come up with great ideas to decorate.
Bushlady, That is what I do with special cards in a large fancy box. I also have the cards from the grandkids in a binder.
Karalin You can do it, a little refresher.

Carol, I'm sure you and your DD are really looking forward to the condo, and you were so wise to turn down the bigger unit. Bigger isn't always best, and with your GONer skills you will be able to make a little palace of the smaller one.
I went back to "that drawer" and decided to toss a lot more paperwork and also got into the filing cabinet that I use and tossed some stuff that belonged to "my former life" - things I used to do at one time. It's all babysteps but little by little things will get straight. I have stuff to organise, like old letters, that will need time to read, so I am concentrating right now on dealing with stuff in the house that will show some impact on actual space and therefore encourage mel The time consuming stuff can wait for now.
