Mary, our church still has Christmas decorations! I love the idea of stretching the Christmas season for the 12 days or more. I only took my tree down on Friday and I've still got a Christmas cloth on a little round table and table runner on a coffee table, and I only remembered to take down the Christmas cards yesterday evening!
I can't even start to think about next Christmas!!

Good for you, Bless!
I have outside decorations to fetch in, and still those cloths to move. The box of received Christmas cards will probably sit around until Easter, waiting for DH to get around to reading the messages in them! The enclosed letters are stored separately in a felt bag that is hanging on the back of a kitchen stool.

Good for you Bless. I would love to keep up a tree for the entire year. Maybe a little one?
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Working on the first project for next christmas gifts. May alternate between two of them.
Blessmymess--I still have a wreath outside, but hanging on the side of the entryway, not on the door. It is a fake one with wood cut outs that a relative made for me. My tree is in the box, but ready for DH to force it in the box! LOL! Diana, I would love to keep a little tree up as well.  Bushlady-I like the idea of the felt bag for the letters that come w/ the Christmas Cards. Right now all cards, pics, and letters are sitting on my piano. So that is something I need to take care of. I didn't send out any cards this year and didn't get very many either. I think due to the economy, the day Christmas was on and the ability to share info on social networks.
I love the idea of leaving a small tree up if you have the room. You could decorate it with each holiday and season. Valentines, Easter, 24th of May, Little surfers or picnic things for the summer. It would be fun.
You could watch the craft and dollar stores for things you could us for decorations. If you didn't find anything you could cut pictures out of magazines and mount them on cardboard or Bristol board and hang them. The possibilities are endless.
This post is from Dancer the cat:
I LOVE having a tree in the middle of the family room! From the moment it was set up, I staked my claim by lying underneath the branches! The soft tree skirt at the base is a further invitation for me to take my naps there!
Too bad it's not a real tree sitting in a bowl of water from which I could take a drink, like my predecessors used to.
But, I do not let the fact that it is an artificial tree prevent me from munching on the fake pine needles. I know my humans are afraid that the whole tree will topple when I tug on the needles to get them free of the tree, but that's not my problem.
I miss the old arm chair which used to be kept next to the tree. I was able to stand on the arm of that chair, lean against the tree with my front paws on one of the branches and reach the upper pine needles. How was I supposed to know that the branch would break under my weight? What kind of a flimsy tree won't hold a the weight of a 15 lb. cat?
I love the boxes and bags that are kept under the tree, with their tissue paper (I LOVE to tear them to bits) and the ribbons and bows that are fun to play with (although I do not eat them the way one of my predecessors used to).
But most of all, I love the shiny glass balls that hang from the branches! I love to bat at them and get them off the tree and then, chase them around the floor! I just don't understand why the humans shout "NO" at me when I do that! Why are they hung on my tree if not for me to play with them?
I think a year-round tree is a great idea! Can it be made out of lettuce or broccoli leaves? Because I LOVE to eat lettuce and broccoli leaves! >^^<
To Dancer the cat from Gabby the cat:
I so agree that a tree should be kept up all year long. I loved napping on the red velvet tree skirt, & it was also a wonderful place to hide things. The fake needles were great for munching. I tried napping in the place where the tree stood, but it wasn't nearly as comfortable.
I enjoy the ribbons as well, but I do tend to eat them, much to my humans distress. One of my humans is still trying to untangle the roll of ribbon I played with last year.
