I wouldn't think you'd want to put it on your work PC, I didn't realize that was a factor. Do you have a smartphone you can get all the email on?

TurnItUp, I'll be if you called DS's school and asked them to change your e-mail, they would. When I switched from on ISP to another last year, I did my best to notify every organization and website about the change, and most of them replied immediately that they had made it.

No smartphone but I do have an ipod touch and can access email on that. I find the screen on that small for reading alot and some emails where I need to cut and paste etc, I prefer to use a pc with mouse and keyboard.

I probably could call the school but I guess it's really not that big a deal to me right now. I think what I need to do is decide what email I want to use for what purposes and then start weeding thru to add or change my address with some people.

Hi all -

Here's another update on my progress with the e-mail clean-out project.

E-mails deleted: 2,220 (of 3,500 to start) so 63%

E-mails that were permanently saved from the total deleted: 161 (several are "love notes" from my Mom who died two years ago - just can't quite part with them yet......:-(

E-mails left to go: 1,800

I might go through about 300 tomorrow when I have some extra time, just to keep it moving along so I'm (hopefully) done by mid-December. The holidays are very busy so I want to be done by then. In that way, after the new year, I can focus on reading through the articles and websites I temporarily saved from the "trash bin". There are about 400 - yikes!! - but a lot of those are recipes and just information I e-mailed to myself that I need to transfer elsewhere. :-)

Hello -

Here is the 2nd-to-the-last update I will give on my progress with the e-mail clear-out project. I will post my final note on this project in a few weeks as that's when I plan to be finished!! :-)

E-mails reviewed so far: 3,200 (of 3,500 to start), so 91%

E-mails permanently deleted so far: 2,343, so 67%

E-mails permanently saved from the total: 175, so 5%

E-mails left to go: only 300!!!!!

My pool of e-mails that I pushed over from the "go through" pile to a folder "to review later" has grown to 682 e-mails. I will have to be ruthless in going through those quickly when the initial sort-through is done.

Note that ONLY 5% of all those zillions of e-mails, so far, have I deemed absolutely necessary to keep. And even some of those will eventually go! Amazing what we hang on to - wonder how that translates into tangible objects around the house!!

Jeannie, That's fantastic. I have been deleting, as well as unsubscribing to emails.

Hi -

Well, this is it - the LAST e-mail update on this project!!! I wonder if anyone is reading.........;-) I finished going through every single e-mail in my e-mail box (except those that pertain to my mom's estate) as of last Friday. I was a month ahead of schedule for completing this project - wahoo!! Here's the final tally:

Total e-mails reviewed: 3,500........100%!!!

E-mails permanently deleted: 2,663, so 76%

E-mails permanently saved from the total: 236, so 6.7%
(NOTE: several of these are going to be consolidated because they contain links to websites I use as a resource or have other information such as passwords which will go on my Easy Organizer. Plus, several will eventually be deleted after I complete a project they relate to next year. I will probably end up with fewer than 100 total saved e-mails, hopefully fewer.)

E-mails left to go through: ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My pool of e-mails that I pushed over from the "go through" pile to a folder "to review later" is now at 837 e-mails. Many of those will be deleted quickly as they also contain some resource websites, others have articles or links to websites I will ultimately skim or just delete. I want to go through them as quickly as possible but my drop-dead date is July 31, 2012. As of that date, anything that's left is getting permanently deleted.

Thanks to those who have followed along with me on this project and responded to my messages. It's been fun and I appreciate your support. If you embark on a similar project, remember to break it down into manageable pieces or it will become overwhelming quite quickly. Take care!!
