Well, I continue working on the items that were on my dresser that are now on my bed. Gradually it is getting more whittled down to groups and identified as to where they should go.

Kimberley, after reading your post, I moved some stuff off the single bed at the end of our bedroom and put it in another room to sort out. You are so right about the bedroom needing to be a peaceful place. I need to pare down the stuff on the dresser, too. I am wishing now that when we bought our bedroom furniture, we had chosen one with a plain mirror, not one with little shelves either side. Tastes change over the years, and I like plainer furniture now.

Thanks Bushlady. Great job on moving the stuff off the bed.
I wanted to clarify, I forgot the candle and the perfume bottle on my vanity when I said only books!

Good advice Kimberly. And remember, if things in your bedroom are not how you wish them to be, working one piece of furniture at a time is the right way to get it under control.

Glad you clarified, Kimberly about the candle and perfume bottle. I have now on my dresser top, my jewelry box, pics of DH and I, and some candles. I have a bookcase in my room for my books and some photo albums. Part of my room has a vanity that is open to the bedroom somewhat and then a walk in closet. Then the shower/toilet room is after that. The shower and floor is gutted so this is bothersome.

Thanks Lea, I was thinking something along those lines. I have cardboard magazines holders I wanted to repurpose and cover up but you gave me good options. Definitely had a better handle on things when I separated my papers into categories. I need to go shopping! Other than that I’ve been good with no dishes, keeping pens in a pot, got a small basket for cd’s and games. I also have a plant and a box of tissus. I got a waste basket for the lower shelf beside the printer, it's covered in fabric making it less 'office supply'; I think it was meant to house magazines. Everything neat and tidy. Ditto on the clutter free bedroom
