January will be eat out of the freezer month for us. Lots in there to use! Had a chat with DD again about not wasting food. She tends to put leftovers in the fridge and forget about them. We all need to be better about that.

Food prices will continue to rise this year. Heard that chocolate is supposed to skyrocket soon, just like we already saw peanut butter do recently. We all need to make those grocery $$ go as far as possible which still eating a healthy, nutritious and yet, delicious diet. If it doesn't taste great, what's the point?

Our first plan is to make a freezer inventory. The freezer is full. DH just went to the big grocery store and did a stockup so we will be good on those items for 2 months.

Since I live in a remote location for the next 6 months, I will be planning a detailed shopping list for Tuesday's trip into the city. I need to buy as much groceries as possible to bring with me to help with the costs and just availability etc. It is a real challenge to try to plan for approx. 3 months (should get down to the city again at the end of March or so).

Tina, When I was 19, I lived on the Navajo Reservation on NE Arizona and taught school. The closest grocery store was in Colorado and I didn't have a car! I remember well the planning we had to do before we traveled every payday to pick stuff up.

Definitely need to eat out of the freezer and pantry for a few months. Also will donate some food for the local food pantry, but cannot contribute perishables.

Without thinking about what is on hand I should be able to thin out the fridge.

Last night we had chicken vegetable stir fry over rice. For dessert we finished up the rest of the blueberries, raspberries and I added both red and green grapes. I used up a little bit of whipped cream to everyone's bowl of berries. In addition, I used up some oyster sauce that was in the fridge.

For brunch yesterday I used up a loaf of french bread for french toast. I made a raspberry sauce to use in place of syrup. We also had turkey sausages with it.

For lunch DH is eating up the rest of a casserole and a lettuce salad.

Went grocery shopping yesterday and bought bread rolls, pita bread, milk, cold cuts, 2 pork chops, fruit (apples, oranges, grapes, avocado, papaya), snacks (raw almonds, roasted soy beans, sesame crackers), bottled water, and soda. Also bought some cat food, but that doesn't come from the grocery budget.

Today is National Spaghetti Day. Works for me! We have pasta at least once a week anyway.
Went to Costco yesterday and picked up some stuff to get us through January, including canola oil to make salad dressings. Too much sodium and chemicals in store bought. So easy to make and bottle your own!

Sounds good to me Kimberly. Guess I am making something with chicken breasts with spaghetti.
