Maureen, sorry you are having a run of sad losses. <<<<HUGS>>>>

Yesterday afternoon we were at a neighbours' for drinks. I felt reluctant to go out in the cold, being tired, but enjoyed it very much. DH came back with a headache and was really cold with our walk in the freezing weather, so he went to bed early and I joined him with a book. But after putting the light out at 9.30 pm, neither of us could sleep and we got up for a hot drink and watched an old episode of "Last of the Summer Wine" on my laptop! Got to sleep late, woke up late of course!

Phoned DSF in the morning.
Ran some errands, got some grocery shopping, including items for a mushroom lasagna for a potluck tomorrow evening at a friend's house. Not sure if we'll make it to midnight! : )

Finally got the boxes of toys put away, and did one load of laundry. DH and I watched one of the videos I fetched from the library.

SAT: Fold laundry and put away
Another load of laundry
Change bed and launder sheets
Some light housework and tidying.
Make lasagna and take it with us (I don't really like transporting food but...)

Maureen, sending (((((((((hugs)))))))))))) to you. You've certainly had your share of losses recently.

Yesterday I ended up going to visit Mom. I didn't leave until 11 am which allowed the highway crews time to get the highway cleared. The driving lanes were clear of ice for the most part; just wet. It looked like the passing lanes still had icy patches but I never tested them. I was soooooooo thankful that I had spent the $$$ on good quality snow tires that are supposed to be better at maintaining traction in winter conditions. I also made sure I drove home while it was still daylight.

Mom is at least willing to try the new night gown. Hopefully she'll remember it when it came time to get ready for bed! I think her mind may be a bit fuzzier than it was which means that she may have had another small stroke. I'm fully expecting that more strokes will happen. Her vascular system shows signs of being brittle. I'm not overly concerned about it. She's had a wonderful long life and if this is her time to leave us, so be it. God is God and we're leaving Him in control.

My JDIs for today -
- quick kitchen ETE this morning (put away clean dishes and start refilling d/w)
- bake raisin bran muffins
- attend funeral this afternoon; help with clean-up following the lunch. One of the "older" men from my church passed away a few days before Christmas. I'm certain the funeral will be a celebration of his life. I feel sorry for his widow but she has a strong support system in her family, the church and various other friends.
- other tasks depending on need, time and energy levels
