Hi my name is Jennifer aka mother christmas. I am new to this forum and trying to get my house organized. Just before Christmas time started I put my house on a diet.
Any suggestions on what I should look at on this forum?

Hi Jennifer, welcome!
I like the concept of putting the house on a diet!
Is there a particular room or area that is bothering you the most? If so, then, I suggest you start there first and begin by decluttering.
Take a look around the forums and see which threads interest you. Since you are "Mother Christmas", you might like our Holiday thread, where we post about organizing for the holidays. Right now, we are very much into Christmas!
Do feel free to post on any of the forums and threads. Looking forward to hearing from you again.

Thank you Blessmymess.
No there is no particular room that is bothering me they all are!
I have decided that I am not doing any decluttering again until after Christmas is over, then I will focus again on getting stuff out of here that is no longer used.

Hello and welcome Mother Christmas! Yes, sometimes we take on more then we can realistically accomplish during the holidays. So have you started tackling the house yet (before and after pictures might help to show your progress).

Welcome Jennifer [Mother Christmas] to this great site where we're all somewhere on the road to getting more organized. As you start the process of putting away all the holiday stuff you can work on the 'diet' process. What was not used and enjoyed? Anything broken or too frustrating needs to go. Anything that can be re-gifted can be passed on asap. If you are prepared to donate start the box labelled DONATE. Should you enjoy/find worth the time and effort...start your yard sale box.
It helps to set practical target dates like January 8, 2012 for all holiday paraphernalia packed up, put away and excess gone. It's important to give yourself a reward for tasks done. A wonderful hot chocolate, a manicure/gossip session with a friend, reading your fav. magazine or watching TV, bubble bath and home spa session etc.
My favorite site is Branches focusing on one particular room 20 minutes, twice a day for an entire week. The rest of the place gets minimal attention but every the time I do the rotation each room is easier to maintain. All the research says...any habit is easy to establish after 28 days of conscious repetition.
I look forward to reading your posts and cheering your accomplishments

You should post about any of your organizing or decluttering activities. You mentioned you were planning to do some decluttering after the holidays. You might want to post what you have done so far in the productivity thread, or post a list of what you have decluttered in the Toss 2012 thread.
If you are working on one particular room, you might want to join in on the Room of the Month thread. If you want to post your "to do" list, join us on the Just Do It (JDI) thread. If you want to post your goals, there's a thread for that, too.
For the most part, these are on-going threads where we discuss a certain topic as it pertains to us and our journey towards being more organized.
Jump in on any of the threads, introduce yourself and say what you are working on, and you are sure to be welcomed by the group. Looking forward to seeing your posts.

Hi, I am Joy, (abundance1956), and I am back after a few years of working full time, and having no time to call my own. I have just cut back my our-of-house-work hours to 3-4 days a week, as psych. RN, and now am seeking to get back to my "organized self"....
Glad to be back. Looking forward to joining in. Sorry to be gone so long! Joy

Abundance! Welcome back! How lovely to hear from you again. Having sufficient time is something I, too, struggle with! Looking forward to having you post again.

Hi and welcome back to the forum Abundance. Its good to "see" you again. Work really does complicate the whole getting organized thing- thats for sure. Is there a particular project, issue, or room that you would like to tackle?
Enjoy exploring the forum and figuring out where to join in.
Welcome back!
