And 2 suitcases of belongings each were all we brought with us when we came to this country.

Several years later, when we drove cross country from Florida to California, all our worldly belongings were pared down again, until everything fitted into our mid-sized car. We had to do that, you see, because we didn't have the money to ship/truck furniture, etc.

12 years later, when I bought my house, I rented a truck to move our belongings, because I brought my furniture along, this time. It was cheaper than buying new furniture.

Since then, of course, I have aquired additional stuff, and what I have now will fill several trucks. laugh

But, I believe that, if I had to, I could pare down until everything fitted into my car, once again. I'd just have to dispose of all the major appliances, all the furniture, most of my books and china, some (if not most) of the sentimental items, etc.

Would I want to? No! laugh And therein lies the problem! laugh

Well the fact that you don't have to Bless is great! I know we all do what we have to when we have to! Necessity they say!

Beaglelady, Bless if only we could be that pared down again hey? Once you settle in one place you accumulate well I did. I am trying to look at it from the perspective, if I wanted to up and move to another country like my DA did last year what could I not bear to leave behind? It is helping to do it that way, and also to try and sell the tossed items before donating. Doing that paid for my holiday this year smile

Diana: You are right. I am very glad that I don't have to pare down to that extent. laugh

Karen, it is an interesting exercise to review our possessions with that question.

For me, at the very least, I'd want the bed spread my maternal grandmother crocheted for me, all the table covers my mother crocheted, the quilts I've made, the 2 dictionaries that list my great grandfather as one of the experts consulted in their preparation, the china dinner set that was my daughter's gift to me for my 50th b'day, family photographs...

They are all things that have a special meaning. smile

I'm so happy! I finally found an off-white shell and it was even on sale. I've really needed one and I've been looking for over a year. You wouldn't have thought it would be so hard to find. I even got a new robe and two nightgowns on sale cheap. Next week I will put some outfits together.

I hit the farmer's market and plan on doing some cooking. I need to use up some of my pasta and I saw this recipe. I would like to have some food really for to have on hand for when school starts.

I slwpt all day yesterday and last night. I didn't feel good but I'm ok today. Hopefully I will get something done.

Cindy

Well, hopefully everyone is getting progress made or completed in your ROTM. I will struggle with mine for a few more months I think. Debating if I made a mistake on moving my craft room downstairs or not. Hate when I second guess myself, maybe i can move some things up here, and keep storage down there? Have to think on this a little more and decide what to do and would be best. I love having things down there, BUT keep bringing things up here to work on!

Any suggestions?
