It makes me look back to when I went away to college and the fact that everything I owned and was important to me fit inside a full sized 9 passenger station wagon..... we will never get it down to where we were when we were just starting out,
When my parents and I left our country of birth, we disposed of all our possessions, the contents of 2 houses, except for what would fit into 6 large suitcases (2 suitcases each).
And 2 suitcases of belongings each were all we brought with us when we came to this country.
Several years later, when we drove cross country from Florida to California, all our worldly belongings were pared down again, until everything fitted into our mid-sized car. We had to do that, you see, because we didn't have the money to ship/truck furniture, etc.
12 years later, when I bought my house, I rented a truck to move our belongings, because I brought my furniture along, this time. It was cheaper than buying new furniture.
Since then, of course, I have aquired additional stuff, and what I have now will fill several trucks.

But, I believe that, if I had to, I could pare down until everything fitted into my car, once again. I'd just have to dispose of all the major appliances, all the furniture, most of my books and china, some (if not most) of the sentimental items, etc.
Would I want to? No!

And therein lies the problem!
